It seems easier to strum at point since ukulele is more of a wrist flick rather than an arm movement if the makes any sense. although on good finger picking songs its all about the whole XD

@Tinzie215 Its called the sweet spot or something I do it also when I play its just kind of a sound thing like you can play behind the hole and it has a thicker sound kinda like a banjo but also its easier to chunk at the area around the neck and thats where you hit the uke to get that certain noise.

I recently got a ukulele for christmas. Congrats on the progress with the uke is such little time. I'm jealous! Here's a tip from the vocalist side of me, don't raise your chin to reach the notes. It stresses the vocal chords and changes your tone. I know because I have that issue too. :P

mmm. the only thing i can say is you have to practice. i could sing and play the uke at the same time because of the guitar. just try whatever is comfortable.

haha. it can take anywhere from a day or so to a couple of weeks. i just kept practicing before.

You could try a different gauge of strings; try going lighter. If you live near a music store, any employee there should be able to help you out with that. As for singing and playing simultaneously, just keep practicing. It's different for everyone because it really depends on how much effort you put into it. And trust me, when you're first able to do so, it will have been worth all of those countless hours :-) Hope all is going well so far, and never give up!
