@McSquizzy722 who cares? the book cured people. oprah, being the "woman of change", just contradicted her main goal here. i don't know why people always need to find the cold truth behind everything. if people didn't obsess over his jail time and his criminal records, the book would be held in high critical acclaim still, with many people using the content as a means for escape. however, oprah made him look like a fool, and those people who sought salvation. horrible woman.
James Frey either has a great imagination or he fails to remember the exact details as a result of intoxication and so substitutes with something more interesting . It's a great read either way.
I would argue that politics and the world and finance are equally fictitious in terms of the validity of the facts they present. And nowhere near as interesting. James Frey for head of the IMF.
I'd like to write a memoir. But like many ex-addicts, I know I have problems with the truth and can barely keep my life story separate from stories I've told about myself. This dude learned the hard way that it is a mistake to sell your story to thousands of people under false pretenses. I hope he's doing OK, and I sure learned a lot from his mistakes. It sucks to get caught in a lie, and it really get sucks to get caught in a lie on Oprah.
I feel so sorry for james, oprah is an idiot to invite him to attack him infront of basically all people in america, it doesnt matter if she thought that he was informed that he was going to get ambushed, its still a really bad thing to do of oprah, just cause ur sitting in your chair looking fat and everyone loves you doesnt give you the right to humiliate james like that infront of america. Even if his book was a lie in some cases it helped alot of ppl and thats all that matters, thx james!
wait wait wait i'm confused is harry potter based on true events? o and i'm only here because they mentioned this in it's always sunny in Philadelphia
It's not about whether it was a good book or not. He profited by lying about the truth. It's like your son steals a bike and you defend him adamantly, then you later find out that he actually did steal it. It would break your heart, and this is how Oprah felt.
lie or not its a good book. and i find it disgusting that oprah is confronting and making him feel so uncomfortable like that. for god sakes he wrote a whole book.
Why was my comment removed? I asked a simple question. What is the difference between two men that lied, tricked people, and profited from their hoaxes? Why there is two totally opposite reactions to the same problem. Why is Oprah hunting down James Frey, but totally ignores Herman Rosenblat?
@Driesketeer Path of light? LOL! I hope this sarcasm...
Oprah knows very well what this bum did. When the whole thing came to be known, she just wrote a little statement on her site that she was "disappointed". Rosenblat is a jew and we all know we can't EVER talk or question anything concerning the holocaust, even when someone spews flagrant lies . Oprah will never touch this...
bottom line is that Oprah is and..we all are human beings. Not ONE of is better, more than, or less than the other. If Oprah was ready she'd interview me.
Bottom line, don't piss off Oprah. Don't make her look like a fool and get experts to trash her because she will hold your feet to the fire and she has the power to do that. Although she is a spiritually progressive person, she most certainly still has a part of her that wants payback, or at least justification, and maybe some little part that got slammed down as a kid and has a knee jerk reaction to fight back as an adult. Hope she has learned enough about herself and humanity to recognize it.
this was all somewhat pointless. did it matter if some aspects were not true? more to the point does it actually matter? it was a good book.

@100ProcentNasze
Yes, Herman Rosenblat should be trialed by Oprah and be brought back to the path of light!
Maybe Oprah will read more books and find out about it. For now, it is enough to know Rosenblat lives in fear for that event..
