Democrats Led Effort To Honor The Sacrifices Of Our 9/11 Heroes

Thanks to Senator Schumer, Senator Gillibrand, former Senator Clinton, Majority Leader Harry Reid, Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives, The Honorable Nancy Pelosi, House Majority Leader Stenny Hoyer, President Barack Obama, and the entire Democratic caucus who passed this bill over the objections of Minority Leader Mitch McConnell and the far-right members of the House and the Senate.

Thank God this finally got done. As good as it feels, though, I have to say that it still doesn't feel like the America we should be living in. When it takes YEARS to take care of our heroes, it's not quite America. When an entire political party pulls out all the stops to prevent doing the right thing, it's not quite America.

Mr. Schumer was very kind to Republicans in his speech, but let there be no doubt...history will show that the Democratic Party is the one that most stood for honor.
