@thevigilanteatheist ... Again, what's your point? I.M. Pei designed the Rock 'n Roll hall of fame by creating a glass pyramid. Beautiful, I've been there. However, it's a replica and not the real thing.
@thevigilanteatheist Well, this is not an accurate statement. There's a lot of work that has gone and is going into preserving this incredible structure. Naturally, it doesn't look like it did thousands of years ago, yet it still stands in all its glory.
Respect to Greece ppl!!! Respect!!!!!!! Idiots British ppl u have no idea.... from our history... U have no idea from "home"... someone said that our marbles are more safe in ur home... idiots. What u have its ours and have been stolen... Wake up!!!
The reason why we Greeks dont follow orders is because we make up our own rules as we go along. We take care of our Ethics as long as we are left alone and not with all these illegal immigrants ruining our originality. Without sounding racist, leave us Greeks alone and we can do wonders.
I really don't think immigrants, illegal or not, can ruin any one's or any country's originality. In fact, I believe immigration, within the proper boundaries and laws, can help to enhance originality.
Greece...a magnificent country to visit, maybe not to live, though. I find many modern Greeks "poor excuses" of their glorious ancestors. Unfortunately, it seems to be a fact.
At the risk of this post being a flamer post, I'm going to ask you to argue your point in a logical manner. Otherwise, I'll delete your post and ban you.
So, what makes you say they're "poor excuses" when the constant threat from Turkey is always met with decisiveness, courage, and lots of balls.
The approach towards the "enemy" is not the only criteria to judge a nation. Yes, the Greeks have been very brave in the past, when they fought for their independence against the Turks and the Nazi's and people of Europe respected them. Remembering the glorious past is good, but we shall ask ourselves (I am also Greek): what has our country done today to move forward and become a better place?
This may not be the appropriate place to ask, but have the riots in Greece long since subsided? I would love to visit Greece in the near future. I am approaching college very soon, and am currently in my last semester of highschool. I dream of studying abroad in Greece, and would like to act out on that possibility hopefully somewhere in the foreseeable future. Is it safe to visit Greece right now?
I asked some relatives of mine who live there permanently and they said that they've stopped for now. However, this doesn't mean they many not continue in the future so unfortunately you'll have to keep an eye out on the news or maybe even the State Department
I just got back from Greece having spent 10 days visiting Athens, Santorini, Nafplios and Delphi. The country and people are incredibly hospitable. Most all signs are bilingual Greek/English and the transportation system in Athens is very good. I'd recommend a trip- though it's April now and I'm sure will get more and more tourists in the days to come.
I dream of going to Greece one day. I love it's vast history and it's culture. I would love to see all the beautiful treasures of ancient Greece. I was born in Ireland, where there is also a vast and rich history, but I moved to Australia 2 years ago and there is nothing of the sort!! There is nothing historical that defines Australia, apart from the Aboriginal tribes and even that is scarce after what Europeans did.
I can't wait to move back to Ireland and also to visit Greece!!
Well, let's apply that to the US Civil war. The South instigated it by wanting to secede from the Union. Therefore, America wanted to split apart. No, not really. The "South" wanted to secede and separate NOT America.
That's fine. I'm just saying that if you generalize the whole thing, it appears as if "all" of Europe was behind it which it wasn't. Anyway, enjoy Australia. I hear the beaches are just amazing.
Greece is breathtakingly beautiful! And so was the music in this video! ;] How could you ever leave a place like this? haha Thanks so much for posting.
Also, forgive me if I am wrong, but is the lovely instrument in the background being played the mandolin? It has a beautiful trill to its chords. I really like it. ^^ Hard to find music like this on youtube lol

Perhaps I'm not the best one to reply to this because 3/4 of my life have been spent in the U.S.
I know from much of my family that's living in Greece that things for them at least are tolerable.
There's no such thing as an ideal system but Greece is improving a lot since I was there--late 70s early 80s.

Thanks for commenting. Do you mean after what the English did and not the Europeans? After all, it was a penal colony from the English

I was just saying that England is a part of Europe, that's all :) I know it was the English who did it. I didn't want to start some sort of debate :S
