We actually do have an identity - we are Tamils. And we don't try to be Bollywood.. We share ideas and gain more knowledge in the media industry. Sometimes the Indian media industry will take Tamil films and remake it into their own movie just by simply placing different actors and actresses and dubbing the language. Us Tamils don't always copy from the Indian cinemas. And because of this, it's actually a cultural exchange. =)

No - we are just alike in many ways compared to Bollywood, we are pretty international and all, but our music is different in some ways, most of the time it's cultural clashings and exchanges of ideas on how to portray our music. Tamils have Ghana and North Indians have Bhangra.

Tamils are also different in terms of how we dance in our movies too. But you would only find out if you have ever seen recent Tamil movies =)
