  • its anti english.. irish republic independence :)

  • I just don't hear the folk punk in this.

  • Don't sink my boat here. I'm smuggling verbal guilitines. ;-)

  • Archeology belongs in a museum. That's all I'm saying.

  • @kevinahollingsworth

Archeology is a science and you are a twat.

  • The Royals are scroungers living on the state in houses too big for their needs. I'm not in favour of beheading but they should be put on a sink hole estate and be left to rot. They are archeological throwbacks and the country can't afford them.

  • @kevinahollingsworth You on the dole and do you live in a sink hole ?

  • Great song, horrible video. Neat concept but they are victims of that late 80's artsy style.

  • @Beefy5039 Says who?At the last poll, well above 50%Of British people would scrp the monarchy, and its about time this medieval anachronism was scrapped.

  • dem flags.

  • Yeah thankfully " English anti-royalists " are few & far between

  • Its ironic to be praising both Thomas Paine and Bonaparte considering he described him as the 'completest charlatan that ever existed.' Nevertheless, a great song.

  • for many years I found this song & about 2 years ago, someone in an Italian forum told me to search this video on you tube & finally after 22 years (!) I found it!!!

I remembered just the central text of the song & a little piece of the video on the ship,I saw it on a chart on Music channel tv maybe with moderator Ray Cookes or Nino Firetto, too!!!

    How many years ago...!!!

  • Monarchist and proud.

  • great song, great band.

    Everyone should see them.

They are easily the most under rated band I have seen in twenty years

  • The video is kind of 1985 meets 1815, isn't it?

  • Why are there no other songs from 'waiting for Bonaparte' on youtube?! It's very depressing.

  • Love this song.

  • saw this video in the 80s and have been a fan ever since

  • Anyone know what those semaphore signals spell out?

  • EH?! Are they not one of the best bands of the 80`s/ 90`s? Went to see them loads back then and didnt get all your college shit!

  • OBVIOUSLY REFERRING TO THE ILLUMINATI BLOOD LINE, AND FUTURE GLOBAL BANKING DOMINATION

  • Hoist the mizzen mast and I wish I had a pint right to toast these great musicians! I love all things nautical and 18th-19th Century nautical.

  • half welsh post punk band

  • I LOVE this song - takes me back to being 14. Simply awesome! Thanks for the video.

  • @Annezbabe

Hi, I have some Scots roots also, respect to your opinion but i shall have to disagree. We'll never achieve political maturity until we abolish the monarchy and achieve the right to elect our own head of state. Tom Payne was a renowned republican thinker, profoundly influencing the Americans as well as the French Revolutions.

  • @Annezbabe It's about mutineers during the Napoleonic war, rebelling against the corruption and autocracy of the monarchist oligarchy. The reference to Payne is a reference to the English radical tradition, which strongly opposed the monarchy and supported egalitarian republican democracy.

Don't try and twist it into a Hun anthem.

  • @Traitorfish At Sptihead and Nore

  • @Traitorfish And Paine sought refuge and was accepted by the Colonies...and forged the foundations of the USA. From personal loss to humanitarian gain. Brilliant.

  • @Annezbabe lol the song is the total opposite of what you think, typical moronic rangers fan comment.

    hail hail.

  • @Annezbabe You're obviously a wind up merchant, either that or you're a fcuking idiot.

  • i never stop listening to this one

  • still love listening to them, hope they're still flying the jacobean flag

  • Remember carrying my sister back ,over my shoulder from one of their gigs about 25 years ago... good days.Ghosts of Cable Street should be taught at school. Respect

  • Good old left wing boys from back in the day

  • Paul Simmonds is a true British Bard

  • this should be the national anthem

  • One of the most under rated bands in Britain. Their songs are brilliant

  • The unofficial anthem of English anti-royalists - red is the colour of a new republic!

  • @devonwierd Also the colour of communism.
