  • Who freakin hand-coats their inside corners? They did invent corner finishing angle heads years ago!

  • I stopped using sand paper years ago because it will take off the DW paper and roll it up, creating a bigger problem. Sanding screen takes off the topcoat better than paper, doesn't plug up and best of all doesn't get into the paper.

  • this was not the skim coat, the skim coat is rolled on with very thin mud , the butt joints should be spread out(busted out) at least 24 inches wide and finished with a 24 inch knife

  • @dwightdouglasgray you dont have to roll the mud on for it to be considered a skim coat. I run the joints like normal and then just wipe it all off. Fills up any pock marks or scratches and leave the joint feeling like it has already been sanded. Turns out great. Rolling is faster but not necessarily the fastest or cleanest

  • it's not right that there is no mud on the butt joints.

  • I like to tape over each row of nails as if it were a joint. That way, if there's a lamp near the wall, you see a slight wave pattern every 16" rather than a flat 4x8' plane framed in ridges. The effect looks more like plaster and less like Sheetrock. You get a similar effect if you use thinker mud on the nails, but it's harder to do that without leaving a few imperfections.

  • @lrd9999 Um ... I meant "thicker mud on the nails". Wish YouTube allowed comment corrections.

  • i actually dont do any sanding at all..ive done so much drywall at this point that i rarely sand, and it comes out great. its all about not going heavy with it..keep it light! BTW all the trade work in i see here in arizona done by illegals is absolute crap. sure they can do every trade..so can a monkey! its where quantity and quality come together u have a good trade partner. I do granite counters by trade and lemme tell u. cheap illegal labor is not the way to go!Unless ur doing blockwork.lol

  • Thanks for making this video and sharing your tips and info.

    Have a nice Holiday season,,Rob

  • I think i spend too much time on trying to make my joints look perfect.. I have added a 12x12 on the back of my house and last night i spent an hour putting up one sheet of drywall, i test fitted it 20 times and shaved down the cut edge to get it perfect.,i am thinking i really dont have to do this being that i still have to tape and mud the gap/edge/seam in the next step anyways, right? Then again it is MY house and i am in No hurry so i can take as long as i want/need to finish the job.haha

  • @irich62 your just another white boy hating on the mexican....lol...were to good at every trade!!! illegal yes! best at the trades of course!

  • @osorio215 I don't know dude I have seen the work many do out here In utah and damn it sucks. Maybe it's the ones out here in Utah I don't know.

  • this guy know what he is talkin about - that's something new in this instructors videos

  • wow, you make that look so easy. Lol.. I suck at drywalling. My kitchen is taking for ever.. Mostly the sanding because it makes such a mess. I should have done this reno before we moved in. lol

  • its called a polish a skim is after the polish.id run circles around u buddy

  • Wow, taking advice from someone who has probably not done any taping before. The guy doing the work hasn't even touched the butt joints on the ceiling, why is that overlooked. Finishing sanding requires P150 or P220. If you have to use 100 grit then your work sucks, PERIOD!!!

  • your joking right, im not a pro mud man but my mudding is so perfect a never sand. have you ever been to a lumber yard or big box store whe the stuff is sold? sandpaper is not even located near this stuff wonder why? because it sould not be needed or used

my final coat is glass smooth and can actually shine a bit.

  • @datzfast "you're not a pro mudder but my mudding is so perfect a never sand?" Ok sure you don't, that's why you probably take forever to finish a project if you spend that much time on your joints. As for the paper, it's an aluminum oxide paper (the colour is blue) and you can get it at any Drywall supply stores, not at the Home Depot, they don't carry it because nobody knows what it is, except for a PRO, bro.

  • cough bull shit. am i fast no, all my projects are private the last one a solo 5,300 square foot house 3 stories solo.

now if im so wrong the people who visit the local big box stores will know it. im sorry i have have never seen a drywall supply store just lumber yards and lowes home depots and all the mom and pops but never a drywall store. People just check out what is on the self buy the dry wall and mud, see , no sand paper.

  • @DrStrangelove3D i get mines at lowes

  • @datzfast omg!! your my hero!!!

  • @datzfast thats bull any good spakler knows u have to do some light sanding to make the job come out right. its called prep work!!!!!

  • @alowhit not in my house

  • @alowhit you have absolutly no clue chief. a good taper will have very little sanding to do in the end. and NO sanding in between coats. stop being a know-it-all smart ass. you know nothing

  • I'm willing to bet the guy doing the work is in the country illegally!

  • @RugerNiner and his better then you

  • dont you guys in america use trowels those paddles are only good fotr stop go signs lol from australia

  • @MrDGINT

yes, we use all kinds of trowels here in america; tuck pointing trowels, brick trowels, gardening trowels etc... dey didnt use any in dis vid, but it doesnt mean the rest of america is not aware of em.

  • Too good for expert village lol.

  • LOL did you notice the guy in a blue ha is a typical Mexican LMAO

  • @Usernameinvalid16 thats why the mexicans are working and your ass is sitting at home!! lol....hahahaha

  • @osorio215 AHAHAHHA

  • id feather out the screws more than a inch anyway ...

  • yeah - you don't want to mud over wet mud - big no no!

  • Wow thats funny. Ive been doing drywall since i was fourteen years old and ive never in my life seen someone a coat over one that has barely even started to dry. Only begginers spot screws like that

  • @lovesomecujo the previous coat is a setting type compound aka "hot mud"

  • @talontooner yeah i know what hot mud is. he never metioned having used it so how do you know that. is it in the comments here or something. i didnt look. that would make sense seeing as how it does tend to look wet even when its rock hard but like i said he never said it that i know of and i never just assume anything

  • perfect!

  • thats probably the nicest drywalling I have seen on youtube so far. Still far too much mud, but way better than what ive seen on youtube.

  • @LOLDISNEYLAND

    aint seen my vids hu
