Those gloves are weightlifting gloves, any good sporting store will have them....make sure there is padding on the inner knuckles, dont get biking gloves as they lack padding where it's needed.

Depends. Do you want to go linear or in a circle to continue your footwork (or reverse it?)
If you're doing it in a set, you probably want a circle, so you'd plant it almost where your opposite hip was (if you're reaching with your left hand, then youd place it close to your right hip, vice versa)
For demonstration purposes I do linear swipes, which from the side, look as if you're reaching backwards

I didn't start doing 1000, i started way back in juniour high with 50 situps (I switched to crunches because I needed upper ab tone)
