One of them did sing the wrong note and doubled with someone else, but it IS supposed to be a jazz chord at the end and not a standard barbershop resolution.
I hate to be a party pooper, but I have to!!! I blame it on my Swedish instincts =P
I believe that the baritone "-ber" (as in barBERshop) is a whole step flat in this recording from the original. And also, the high tenor doesn't go to the 9th in the final chord, he doubles the 3rd (although Aaron teaches it correctly). The 7-6 drop speaks for itself =)
Yeah! I love the 7-6 thing on that final 9 chord! It's like a hipper version of the old Barbershop supension 6-b6-5! Barbershop chord progressions baffle me...Haha I can see you at the beginning Big O!
It's not actually a barbershop tag. The words are actually "sing an old time song again", but they changed the words for sheer irony. I'm thinking it's originally from an old hi-lo's song by Gene Peurling.
You're right, and actually I've also got a video of them singing it with those lyrics as well. This one had the teaching of the parts on it though so I used this one.
If you listen at the very beginning you can hear a guy say "no, keep it barbershop all night" that was them deciding which version of the lyrics to use.
hahaha ridiculous tag great job all around. haha uhh excuse my theory but those sound more like jazz chords hahaha and eerily familiar to sing an old time song ;) but overall great Job all around
Love it!

What part does Aaron Dale normally sing? Because that's a crazy range he's got there!
Lince7777777 1 year ago
@Lince7777777 He's a tenor by heart. He sang lead in 65 South though.

The chord on "shop" is the best part!

Love the tag.... however. "Keeping it barbershop" would be four parts, not five....
PrimaDonnaBass 1 year ago
@PrimaDonnaBass Yes, that's the whole point. It's a joke. A jazz chord tag with 5 parts with words "keep it barbershop".

Does the guy with glasses in the beginning have perfect pitch?
thetubkins 1 year ago
@thetubkins No, but he's one of the best arrangers of barbershop music in the world right now.

Dude, almost cry here, soooo cooooool this tag...
I think I'm loving barbershop style... But we don't have barbershop groups in here (Brazil)
this is bad, I really want sing this style...
Ps: How can I practice range?

That looks a lot like the inside of an LDS church btw...
Odoth 2 years ago
That's because it is KVU practiced in an LDS chapel. Or at least they used to. I think they are moving locations.

sing an old time song, again?
blackiron44 2 years ago
Yup. Same one.
murry537 2 years ago
Haha still gotta give it to them! A high A in the high tenor! That's insane! =D
FineyLeee 2 years ago
Definitely. The crazy part? The guy singing that A sings bass in the KVU chorus! I wish I had a range like that.
murry537 2 years ago
was the last chord supposed to sound like that? I would have though that they would make the full sound with a full major chord.

I live in Louisville! there's not that much barbershoppers I know in my District except the Thoroughbreds...

You should visit the Kentucky Vocal Union then. That's practically next door!
murry537 2 years ago
I should probably keep that in mind... when I finally get my license and/or have the money to go... Hah... LOL
vanish129 2 years ago
there's lots of people that come down from Louisville. I'm sure you can hitch a ride.
murry537 2 years ago
Heh. Someone should sing this at the BQPA convention. Drive the hardcore KIBbers up the wall!
