I'm tired of reading comments from people about Bolt being faster than Gay just because he is taller. Stride length is determined by power production not limb length. Infact, increasing stride length by modifying technique would result in a greater breaking force per stride. By this bull shit logic the worlds tallest man should be the worldsfastest man too, where was he at the Olympics final?

Tyson gay is pure speed at his height. He's only 5"11 and is second fastest man in world. The world's fastest man is 6 inches taller, which is 6 inches more he can stride throughout the entire 100m. Now don't tell me that won't give you a better time.

@sergnavarro bolt is faster. The only reason he's faster and has a long stride length is because he is able to generate a lot of force through his hips, knees and ankles, not because his legs are long.

@TransformingGamers Thing is bolt has to trade off his long stride with decreased stride frequency. Leg length is algo no directly proportional to stide length. Its all about how much power the leg can put out during the small moment of time (about 0.1s) that the foot strikes the ground. Its not as if they're walking down the track.

@TransformingGamers That, my friend isn't entirely true. Being 6 inches taller doesn't necessarily mean 6 inches of leg length. It's distributed among the body and the legs. You can count on it being a good 3 inches. I respect Tyson's speed and form for his body size against Bolt. It always looks as if he'll catch up in the last 10 meters but runs out of room to catch up with. If you look at their meets, Tyson trails for a good 75% of the race but slowly starts to catch up.
