Good narration, and it would have fit in with the pseudo-disney style Lucas was taking with the phantom menace as opposed to the gritty 70s look of the original trilogy. Had he actually used these narrations in the film, it may have mollified some of the criticism. He tried to retain the skeleton of the OT when this style actually DOES work for the film. A new hope was based on The Hidden Fortress, space war through the eyes of robots. TPM through the eyes of a former slave, why not?
