Gorgeous strat. How does the neck feel? Hard to bend? After playing gibsons for a while, strats feel like stiff dress shoes, whereas the gibsons are like broken-in sneakers. But the sound of a strat is unbeatable.

are texas specials good for other genres? i am a very diverse player from blues to rock to metal. I'm in the market for a strat and i know that texas specials are supposedly very good PU's but i have a feeling they're only good for blues. Any thoughts? Thanks! :)

I have an old MIM Strat, built in 1991 or 92. It's been a great guitar, I bought it brand new off the wall in as a sophomore in high school. I have stock pups in the middle and neck, and a Seymour Duncan Hot Rail humbucker in the bridge. But, I like the sound of those Texas Specials.

This is how I wanna live. Just have a medium sized living room with simple clean furniture, nothing fancy, just comfy and clean and tidy. And lot's of guitars hanging on the walls. Change out the CD stack at beginning of video with a hi-fi stereo system and a Samsung LED Full HD TV. Christ I'd be there 24/7 except from work.

Then you get wife and kids and all comforts fade away. But you're still happy, I guess.... :/

theres actually a mexican fender with usa texas special, its called fender deluxe roadhouse, its pretty awesome, i own a similar one, but with a humbucker instead of one of the texas special

Many of the Mexican made strats come with Texas Specials already. The Tex-Mex series do, I believe.

The SRV guitars are where they started using them.

I noticed that your playing style and the thick pick you use makes all your guitars sound the same...great tone nonetheless, but if I closed my eyes and listened to your videos, I would never tell that you were using a different guitars(except maybe when you switched from a humbucker guitar to a single coil)

To be fair I think most tone is in the hands and, as you mentioned, the tone here is good.

I think pedals also lend a less transparent tone than going straight into the amp.

Anyway, I can hear the strattyness at the beginning and when he hits the bass strings at about 22 seconds.

More importantly I hear a really nice Larry Carlton sound and approach in bending and getting a little outside with a similar tone squeezed out of a much different set up.
