  • ive listened to em all and augeri is waaaaay better then arnel

  • Love this. Thanks for sharing!

  • @Brokered5 It seems that you hate AP so much. He is a talented tenor singer who can cover a wide range of genre, earning a decent living by singing to feed his family. He didnt impose himself to be with journey. He was discovered and offered the job and gratefully accepted. If you were in his shoe, woudnt you accept? Now that he is millionaire, he is giving it back to poor children in his country-giving free education to street kids, medical and dental to the poor and needy. GOD bless him

  • @maverickdelacruz73 No don't hate, just quite disappointed when buying/hearing Revelation the "note for note" rerecordings. That's an insult to Steve Perry who would never stoop to insult s/one he calls his"idol." Pineda even acknowledged that being. Don't give me his sob story. The ends don't always justify the means. Outright copying others style/sound is beyond my appreciation of true artistry. Seemingly he spent life learning how to do others so now when trying to do self (Eclipse flop).

  • Soto was the official lead singer for journey for a very short amount of time. They should have kept him. I like Arnel, but soto is fantastic.

  • Augeri was a million times better on this track. Arnel simply can't sing, he just mainly speaks the vocals instead of actually singing, but people are too dumb to notice. He has it so easy in this band, Augeri was grill hard for directly taking over for Perry. JSS never really had a shot because he was too out of the normal element for this band. But people go for Arnel because of the youtube sucker story. You can keep him.

  • He is the best Journey lead singer. I was not a fan of Journey at all but since Arnel Pineda is in. I am now

  • I ALWAYS WONDER WHY THEY NEVER PLAY "ALL THE WAY" ANYMORE?

  • Stop fighting people! some of you act as if you're personal friends with this band. It's a BUSINESS they're in it to make money. RIght now Arnel Pineda suits their needs and he does a great job!

  • sanny,

I wonder if your S.P, SA and JSS can sing "Alone" by HEART.............mm yeah I thought so too :)

  • @IvegotacrushonEmB I'm sure S.P. can sing anything, but keep in mind he's a true complete artist that doesn't spend his time learning how to ape other artist music b/c he wrote or co-wrote his own. There is no talent in singing others songs "note for note" for that's the easy way when you cannot create anything of your own. Journey's recent Eclipse album was its biggest flop ever with karaoke whose talent seemingly is copying others music. That screamy & talky singing up there is unbearable.

  • @Brokered5 it is what we call "rock" baby...and it should be sung with brute force

  • @maverickdelacruz73 I guess their new album "Eclipse" was sung with "brute force" and it is the biggest flop in Journey 35+ years history. As has been said, "he only knows one singing style - loud." I guess I'll pass on that "rock" and from the sales of "Arrival" and "Eclipse" many others too passed. Put a little Soul in it.

  • @Brokered5 and you expect them to top billboard sales? huh!!! even augeri's 2 albums are way beyond "eclipse" album sales.

  • @maverickdelacruz73 Yep, Augeri's trump Eclipse's 67K sales. But band just came off fake platinum (1 sale/2 counts) Revelation/2008 w/karaoke rerecording of the Greatest Hits (famous by voice of Steve Perry) to push sales, so thought Eclipse w/have done little better. Guess people only interested in Pineda's karaoking others hit songs. Don't like karaoke and can't find my copy of Revelation (trashed?). Seems band only left to trying to ape the past. Got the right copycat!

  • @Brokered5 well said, say example you own journey, and you have to really find a singer and it should be a "tenor" voice that can emulate anything and move on to other direction. Which will you preffer? A tenor voice that can do anything? or the other way around? And bear in mind that people go to concert to hear the dirty dozen, giving justice to legacy sound. Pls do not consider AP as we are talking about "tenor" voice, may it be an elephant or gorilla singing. So which do you preffer?

  • @maverickdelacruz73 Would prefer a true artist that can do anything-sing/WRITE/play. Why go w/tenor voice(Must)? Why not a Van Halen/Hagar, Genesis, etc. musically successful w/o going karaoke w/same sound (Can't?). A/Lambert singing w/Queen was great, not sounding Freddie. If singer only accepted emulating hit songs, probably won't "move on to other direction" (Eclipse flop). If own Jrny w/go w/known artist who could sing, write and sell it. No respect for designed karaoke.

  • @Brokered5 Tenor is a MUST, Journey's signature sound is tenor. SP's tenor's voice that can reach stratospher catapulted them to supremacy. Only a true tenor can sing journey's dirty dozen night after night. Maybe you right, eclipse CD may be a flop but not "eclipse tour". I can give you link that eclipse tour was among the top 20 in terms of attendance and they earned millions. Heck, who buys CD nowadays? You can get pirated copy on internet. BTW AP can write.

  • @maverickdelacruz73 I got the "link." In 2008 #20 Top 25 tours with $35m (52 shows) and 2011 #18 on Top 25 tours (73 shows) $39m, all package deals with equal artist. Should not be on that top 25 list b/c artist below made comparable money and didn't have to hog the road to do it. People bought Revelation in 2008 w/karaoke rerecordings, just not interested in anything else from Journey. Pineda didnot write on City of Hope about him/his home? Stuck his name on couple of songs for cred.

  • sanny1966,

.. when you say "we live in a free world" You meant >> matrix? If you really believe wholeheartedly that we are living in a real / free world ..well, you are stupid and ignorant!

  • @sanny1966

UPLOAD A VIDEO OF YOU AND PROVE THAT YOU CAN SING BETTER THAN THE FRONTMAN OF JOURNEY! PFFT.. ADMIT YOU ARE JUST JEALOUS BECAUSE YOU ARE NOT THE LEAD VOCAL OF THIS GREAT BAND! YOU ARE SUCH A NUISANCE !(*>,<*) !

  • @sanny1966 .... "THAN" NOT "THEN" (MORE THAN) NOT (MORE THEN)

YOU ARE SUCH A SCHEMER-LIAR! YOU DID SAY THAT YOU HATE ARNEL PINEDA BECAUSE HE HAS AN AMAZING VOICE AND AN ASIAN."ASIAN ROCKER? WHAT WAS NEAL THINKING?!" YOU WERE SO PISSED THAT NEAL SCHON DID NOT DISCOVER YOUR TALENT (that is if you got one). And why are you listening to JOURNEY with Arnel if you abhor him so much? Seriously get a grip :( you are daft as a brush! You are just simply jealous of this guy because he can sing.

  • All A.P haters I only wish you all die in your sleep (*X _ X*) Your Steve Perry, Steve Agueri, Jeff Scott Soto/Sotto will never come back! This Arnel Pineda is the current lead vocalist of Journey today, tomorrow and forever! Arnel Pineda owns an amazing brillian voice period!

  • @IvegotacrushonEmB Who on God's Green Earth would want JSS back? This has become one of my all time fave Journey songs...I liked it live by Augeri...I still like it live with Arnel. Arnel HAS pipes no doubt. I'm not overly impressed with the new Eclipse album...but there are a couple songs that rock. I don't think the lack of hits has anything to do with Arnel's voice to be honest. I think it's likely the lack of Perry writing songs with Neal and Jonathon.

  • @Recovery101Rule62 Which is a bullshit reason for having no recent hits. Revelation and Eclipse were, to me, absolutely mind-blowing, and Eclipse is the only Journey album in their entire history where I've loved every one of the albums, even the ballads. "Never Walk Away", "Change for the Better", "Wildest Dream", and "City of Hope" deserve a place on a new Greatest Hits album. The same can be said for their Steve Augeri material.

  • @KeiIshiyama I agree totally with "Change for the Better" and "City of Hope"...it may just be that Arnel and Augeri came in to a well established band where everyone is still pining for Steve Perry....If Arnel had come in in the late 70's it would probably be different...then again...Perry wouldn't have co-written songs like "Open Arms", "Faithfully" "Don't Stop Believing" and a dozen other hits...so we'll never know. In any event...I think Arnel kicks @ss...I just didn't care for JSS...

  • He does some killer Queen renditions though...I just don't think JSS was cut out for Journey. Dean has amazing vocals as well...

  • @Recovery101Rule62 Soto wasn't meant to be a full-time man, thankfully. I wasn't too big on him, either.

  • @KeiIshiyama LOL! Wrong. Soto was the permanent replacement of Augeri. He was announced as such after the tour with Def Leppard.

  • @skinsguy34 Then explain why Arnel Pineda is Journey's lead singer. He's held the position since 2007.

  • @KeiIshiyama Because Soto was fired from the band while he was overseas on his last tour with his former band Talisman. He was informed by somebody else outside of the band that he was out. After the tour with Leppard in '06, Soto was officially announced lead singer of Journey. Believe what you want to believe, but I'm telling you you are incorrect in saying Jeff wasn't meant to be a full-time front man of the band, because that is simply untrue.

  • @skinsguy34 If he was meant to be the full-time lead singer, why isn't he? And, regardless of the circumstances surrounding it, Journey could easily get rid of Arnel and put Soto in, so why do they bother to keep Arnel?

  • @KeiIshiyama Um...I think I answered your first question already. I can go into further detail for you if you wish to email me, but it's late here in the states and I have work tomorrow. And yes, Journey could easily get rid of Arnel and put Soto in or anybody else for that matter. I'll be happy to tell you all the background history on this band, because I have followed them since the very early 80's.

  • @ tomlew2007 , you are so stupid! Journey (Neil Schon) asked Arnel Pineda to be their lead singer, you dip shit! You are just a jealous man/woman/gay. And, by the way he is not Chinese, idiot! He is a FILIFINO! Tom, you are no better than Neil Schon he knew what he was doing when he decided to get A.P as their frontman!

Tom, may you die in your sleep... you waste of space!

  • sorry for steve and augere they own this song but they can't pull it off like arnel can because they don't have the voice like arnel...

  • Comment removed

  • Steve Augeri was SO much better, he OWNED that song. Arnel,...well,.....hahahaha

  • augeri was so better then this clown

  • @Y2J770 we all need a clown to make us smile - steve perry

  • @zoobandrocks perry and augeri were so much better then this putz

  • i think, steve p the old man can't pronounce due to parkinsonisms

  • NoSteveHasReturned YES YOU'RE RIGHT! NO MORE JOURNEY FOR STEVE. THE VOICE IS EXPIRED 1996 SORRY.

  • NO STEVE= NO JOURNEY

  • this song was made to and for Steve Augeri. i think...

  • I would enjoy listening to Arnel if he would pronunciate better.... Until then, I just can't...

  • @nickmiller71 Was that a joke?

  • @thecianinator No, that was not a joke. I would have preferred that they either stuck with Augeri, got Perry back, or went with Deen on drums for vocals. Arnel just doesn't have those pronunciations down pat yet.

  • @nickmiller71 Oh, I just thought you were joking because you said pronunciate instead of pronounce when you were criticizing someone for talking wrong. I actually disagree with you on the whole; I think Pineda annunciates well and is easier to understand than Perry.

  • this is great. aw amazing!

  • Been a Journey/Neal Schon fan for almost 30 years. Nothing personal against Augeri, but every time I hear him sing now I wanna stick my head in a woodchipper. Pineda's ability is light years ahead of Augeri. Videos like this don't do Pineda justice. I've seen all three versions of Journey live many, many times, and they don't miss a beat with Pineda.

  • Karaoke. It's like watching the finals of American Idol. That accent is just too odd. He has a nice voice though. Prefer Augeri.

  • @DoctorDelaware I like Arnel and both Steves. I found this CD(Arrival) at Wal-Mart a few years ago. It was only $5.99. I like it as much as the other Journey CDs. Wish it would've sold more and Steve A would've stayed with Journey longer

  • @DoctorDelaware I bet you can sign karaoke like this. Funny. Not.

  • @DoctorDelaware I bet you can sign karaoke like this. Funny. Not.

  • Great song and a great singer.Wow!

  • The vocals have a 2nd lead vocal on it! Hear it? Listen to the bridge!!! But what a voice!

  • Lo maximo! Journeyyyyyyyyyyyyyy

  • Great job by Arnel but I think Augeri still sings this song the best

  • Augeri's is the best by far

  • Good. But Steve´s better.

  • Hearing Arnel sing anything reminds me of seeing the Japanese hair band Loudness open up for Motley in '85. After the first song or two the singer says "Herow, we are Wowdness!!". Not making fun or putting anyone down, but like it or not, Arnel sound like a guy with a thick non-English accent singing Journey songs. To me, they're never quite right.

  • @tama2112 You are making fun. Filipinos do not mispronounce L and R because we have both of this in our alphabet. Sorry for you.

  • I've now listened multiple times to Steve A.'s version, Deen's and Arnel. Of the three, Arnel's voice is more suited to this song. A rock song always sounds better with a strong big voice like Arnel's.

    Thanks for the vid.

  • Steve Augeri's version is great but Arnel made it sound more like a Journey song. :-)

  • Awesome indeed!

    Powerful and clear.

    Thanks for posting!

  • wow i hoped so much that they would play this song with arnel - just awesome...

i like the augeri-version, too, but arnel has a much more fresh and powerful voice. is this from their last tour?

  • yes, from the 2009 tour

  • arnel version is way better than steve

  • si deen sumasapaw wehehe

  • steve augeri's version is better

  • i heard this with augeri, love it. arnel's rendition, much better.love it more.

  • I agree. Arnel's voice's sounds cleaner and stronger.

  • This is probably my favorite song from the Augeri era next to Signs of life. Is there a higher quality recording of Arnel singing this song anywhere?

  • Love, love this song too! Arnel did not yet sing Signs of Life in any concert. I love that song from Arrival too. And also, I would love to hear Arnel sing World gone Wild! Thank you very much for uploading this, tsor2112!

  • jon cain is really filling in this song, what a great sound. What a complete band:-)

  • Bongbacz:

You've got the best video, thanks in a billion!!

    It's AWESOME!!

  • Incredible vocals by Arnel!

plus Deen on backing vocals, and the soaring guitar sounds from Neal equates to a super combo!

    Rock on Journey!

  • this song rrrocks!!!....love it when Arnel does his own touch on Journey's classic and veer away from sp-ish sound...delivered w/ more power and exuberance....first time to hear it and am liking it!!!

  • What are you talking about? This song was after SP's era. You mean SA-ish sound?

  • :-) good job

  • @DonEnyo - more power and exuberance than Perry? Huh??

  • Wow!! I was hoping Arnel would do this!! Maraming salamat!!!!!

  • AP start to dig deeper on Jboys Bside. Great ' Thanks for the video.

  • AWESOME!!!!!!
