as soon as battery enters, it sounds very high schoolish... too bad the percussion doesnt have an instructor and poorly written... the rest of the ensemble sounds very good.
But in all seriousness.......... I used to laugh at bands with no all state musicians that were out acting like a bunch of badasses. In reality, All of these competitions came down to wich kids held their instruments the highest and had matching socks.
this show was just kinda bleh last year. it never got to its potential. very disappointing from houston. but the musical selection wasnt very good to begin with, so it wasnt all your fault.
So much for everyone else thinking we shouldn't have won. From all the bands I saw, we were the only ones to get lots of other people from other bands to get on their feet and clap.
Oh well, we're going to be incredibly better next year. We weren't that good last year, but we're going to blow competition away this year.
in 2006 (my freshman year) houston had the one of the most talented freshman classes in its history, together with one of the best senior classes we won 1st in every competition including Bandmaster's except austin peay we got 3rd =/ but anyway this upcoming 2009 show is gnna be awesome, with our 2006 freshman becoming seniors and our "refuse to lose" attitude...i wish Munford the best of luck at the competitions that we aren't at

i saw avon.......the only reason y i dont like boa is because it seems like their shows never have drumbreaks.........im a drummer and i can care less about hornline.

I just get mad when people get cocky so i feel like i have to bring them down so they will stop. i guess i shouldn't though. we should all get along. I apologize to everyone for my comments. Way to make yourself sound intelligent. First off, your insults are completely random and just make you seem stupid and arrogant. Second, if you're going to insult someone's intelligence, at least TRY to use correct grammar and spell your damn words correctly.
A large amount of Houston Band is lazy or just not cut out for competitions. A lot of it has to do with arrogance in thinking we don't have to try and the fact that we haven't had a decent Freshmen class since '06.

I do not really follow the marching bands that close. My nephew is in the JHS Band, and he wanted to see the other bands play. The people in the band apparently do not get to watch the other bands due to the large group, and being ready to play their songs. I know Houston Band was huge. When the first section came out we thought it was the entire band, and I think it was just the horns. It really surprise us. They all did great, and should all be commended on their hard work.

@copedapope2425, i graduated houston band in 2005.......... pretty sure they dont have to travel far to place well? We beat Munford many times. The joke is MTSU competition. Houston did amazingly well every time and hardly ever placed in the top 10. My senior year we reviewed the vids and it was perfect.. placed outside the top 10, and we had NINE all state musicians on the field.... NINE. (including myself). For me Marching band was about the music, not about being at attention and behaving -
@copedapope2425 if we win it we deserve to celebrate. and at least we're not bunch of stiffs with poles up our butts like the rest of the bands. there's actually a lot of technicality and precision as well as creativity to a lot of the moves and drill patterns. and we won bandmasters mulitple times and are 4 time defenders of the vanderbilt competition. unprofessional are we?

I would recommend to the Caption Head of the percussion section to raise the tuning on the tenors. Great job with the basses!
