VW named TSI for the first time the new engine 1.4 turbo and compressor engine. Because it had two supercharging units (turbo + compressor) it was different from the older TFSI engines like the one on the GTI 5 : 2.0 TFSi 200hp. After Golf 6 emerged VW named all supercharged engines (no matter if turbo or turbo + compressor) TSI instead of TFSI. But the 1.8 TSI 160hp from this video has only turbo and direct injection. No compressor.
What the hell is wrong with you people! FSI (Fuel Stratified Injection) is atmosferic engine. TFSI (Turbo fuel stratified injection) and TSI (Turbo Stratified Injection) is twin or single-charged evolution of FSI. Same technology, only different name. TSI engine don't mean it has to be a supercharger with a turbo. It could be only turbo as well... VW dropped the 'F' on the badging. AUDI & Skoda prefer TFSI badge. False asumption is that TSi means twincharged stratified injection or a Turbo-Super
The VW GTI had a 2.0T FSI for the first couple years then suddenly in mid 2008 they introduced the 2.0 TFSI. Its the same exact means of forced induction but the TFSI version is direct injected. Its just a slight rename for a slight revision.
