Far as I'm concerned, C-Webb maybe goes on my starting 5 list (Magic, MJ, Bird, _ , and Shaq) better than Malone, Chuck, or Duncan because of his fluidity and passing. He was obviously a power player but proved later on to have a killer mid-range game too. C-Webb, the greatest PF? Hm maybe.
@1Eu4ic I'd say he's definitely up there with Olajuwon, slightly different kinda player to Olajuwon but I'd say considering your team C-Webb would probably fit it better because of Shaq occupying the paint and the blocks so much. C-Webb was a great player though and it's kinda sad that he didn't win that ring in '02.
@MonstarENG Maybe he should go on my 3rd string: Stockton, Pistol Pete, LBJ, C-Webb, Hakeem. Wooo-wee! Yes C-Webb deserved that '02 ring. He's a champion in my book for sure.
webber would have had a title in 2002 easily. thanks to tim donaghy and the other pieces of shit that called themselves "refs" (hope i dont get fined) that fixed the games for the lakers making the WCF the only seven game series that year. the kings were averaging a hundred points/game that year. how many free throws did kobe shoot in game six? fucking bullshit! lost respect for the nba after that. oh, and they screwed divac out of a title as well...
@conwayandwhitmanman No he wasn't. He averaged 25 PPG and 11 rebounds with the Kings in the playoffs. A rigged series and an injury cost him back to back championships.
agreed i watched the series, its so frickin rigged. lakers was overrated. they just want to sell kobe jerseys and to create a wannabe jordan. steve nash also got ripped off. nba is phony.

Chris Webber - one of the most overrated big men in the history of the nba. How can this choke artist be called one of the greatest big men of all time? Hes top 10 for biggest choke in the history of basketball for his little stint in Michigan. And For those who watched him closely he was well known for choking in key moments through his career especially in many key moments in the 2002 wfc, bibby was really the major reason for their success in that series vs LA.
@leadiceman22 stojakovic, jackson, christie, wallace....but not martin. he didn't play back then and he wouldn't have fit the group. overrated player with ugly style of play.
2002 Kings-Lakers: Kings were in full control, but the refs decided that LA should get their 3peat and whistled in an unfairly manner, so Sacto was not able to get the ring...
it it pretty sure that the whole thing was planned and that the kings never had a chance!

@epileptikal if it's a shot then it's a block (on the way up), if it's a pass then it's a steal...a rebound is after a shot hits the rim or backboard, or an airball. so this one was a block.
god i miss that kings lakers rivalry and even as a laker fan I will admit the kings got cheated by those refs in 02 and should have went on and won the finals that year.
@essfjay It was great, there was on year where they had beat! I think even used the claim that the game fixed, and i may have at the time, but was silly! They did have a few times. They also had a good post season rivalry with the Jazz for a while! Poor Webber and Malone, 2 of the best to never win a title.
There were plenty of good power fowards in the 80's and early 90's. Kevin McHale, Karl Malone, Buck Williams, Terry Cummings, Charles Oakley, Horace Grant, etc. Webber simply wasn't as good as Barkley. it wasn't just because of injuries. He was never as dominant as Barkley and he could never finish a team off as well as Barkley. Webber was always a bit too passive. He was never the scorer or rebounder that Barkley was.
Barkley was great, but if Webber could ever stay healthy he would have been better. And statistacally Webber is better, not to mention if the refs would have called a fair game in '02 Webber would have a ring..........and another the next year if he wouldn't have blew his knee.
What are you talking about? Statistically Barkley is far better. Barkley has him in about every category except for Webber having a slight advantage in assists per game and blocks. Barkley averaged 22.1 points, 11.7 rebounds, and 3.9 assists while shooting 54% from the field. Webber averaged 20.7 points, 9.8 rebounds and 4.2 assists while shooting 47.9 % from the field. Barkley also played in more than 200 games than Webber. Barkley was also a better foul shooter and got there more.
@Force2mj Once again, if Webber could have stayed healthy he would have been better......matched up against Tim Duncan, Kevin Garnett, etc. There weren't too many good PF's in the 80's and early 90's..........C-Webb didn't play to his full potential and never played a full season. He also would have had a ring if the game would have been called right which would outweight 2 points and 1 rebound that Barkley had on him.
@04ATLien Well that is ironic considering Barkley also toughed it out with the best and the only thing that stopped him was his back. I have to admit webber never reached his full potential until he became the backbone of the Kings franchise and his knees sadly would break his career. But in question of dominance, there is a reason why Barkley is made the most of his career even early on while there had always been questions about it with webber, even in finishing key games.
@newagepun You have a valid point, CWebb never reached his full potential and for Barkley to be 6-6 and over weight he could run and jump better than most PF's, and CWebb never came thru in key game time decisions from college to pro. Still I would have to give it to Webber with scoring, passing, rebounding, shooting and even style if he could have stayed healthy. I would go with Barkley in a franchise but if Webber could have stayed healthy I would go with him in a heart beat.
@04ATLien Statistically speaking, C-Webb is in the top 20 most clutch players of the last 15 years. And amazingly, he's ahead of Kobe on that list. There was an article on espn that basically laid it all out a few weeks ago.
@Mikey1724 WEBBER WAS GREAT BUT OWNS BARKLEY?SIR CHARLES HAD 56 AGAINST HIM IN PLAYOFFS AND KILLED HIM EVERYTIME.BARKLEY IS THE BEST PF EVER ALONG K.MALONE,DUNCAN AND HAYES!
Gasol doesnt come close to the passes Weber used to make. Gasol has the potential but uses his skills more for scoring. I agree though that if he put his mind to it he has the passing skills to make plays everytime.
wow chris webber has some the best plays ive ever seen. what a great basketball player

There was an article on espn that basically laid it all out a few weeks ago.

chris was a stud.. gasol reminds be of him right now especially with the passes

@spinal68
Gasol doesnt come close to the passes Weber used to make. Gasol has the potential but uses his skills more for scoring. I agree though that if he put his mind to it he has the passing skills to make plays everytime.
