You don't have to a "billionaire" to own a plane- although it can be expensive. Really it's all relative to how much you earn and where you want to spend your money.
There are a lot of pilots who own a share in a plane to reduce costs as well.
Ya when it was the smith cub it sold for 30k now that tcow owns it their wringing out another 10k for it. It amazes me how a couple hundred pounds of steel and aluminum can be turned into gold. The poor customer gets no benefit from the scale of economy of a manufactured product. Its alot of money for just a two place aircraft. This product is marketed to people who have more money than brains. LOL should be replaced by COL.. cry out loud.
kits are not THAT expensive but they do take hundreds of hours .. which basically translates into years for the average person (with a job/family/other commitments) ..
yess i live in Atlanta but im concetered a resident of Wyoming(Jakson Hole) wait i haft to build it iM all for building things thats my thing but i honestly dont trust anything i make enough to fly it lol
Yes this is Nick Smiths Old Company. He sold it to Turbine Cubs Of Wyoming LLC. TCOW company loved the product so much that they wanted to buy Nicks share altogether. Now the products are ever better then ever due to CNC routers and other machines. Wayne Axelson is still the wing manufacture and is doing an awesome job with each set of wings. Just check out the forums that are everywhere online. TCOW have the new Mackey SQ2 coming and it will be shown at the Alaskan airman show this year!
Yeah, base price for the kit they supply. Then, add an additional 30-60K depending on whether you use new or used parts, and you have yourself an airplane. Of course, that is after a couple of years (typical homebuilder time frame) of part time labor. If it yours it's free, but if you hire it done it ain't. What is your time worth?
I will fly again.
