yes, it must be love, after 13 years as of yesterday. O.T., The Peerless Quartet also did the Rutgers song "On the Banks of the Old Raritan." I don't know if it's on youtube, but it's on the Internet somewhere, and can be googled. Well worth listening, even if you never followed the Scarlet Knights.
I'm usually not all that fond of these types of harmony groups but this record is exceptional. I really like the Comedian Harmonists and the Revellers. My favorite Revellers record which is extraordinarily beautiful includes some stereotypical racist language and I don't think I should post it.
Yeah, I know of at least one Peerless Quartet recording that's either laughably or disturbingly racist, I can't quite decide. I guess with Birth of a Nation playing in the Whitehouse we can put some of it down to the times they performed in... still.... sheesh.
I think you have to take into consideration the time period that these were recorded in. Racist or not it still is part of history and do we learn from it if we just try to erase its memory.
Darling Bob, You are a very Special Romantic and YOUR Wife must be very Special too! How lovely that you would sing this to her, I love the Romance and LOVE! Thank you for sharing and posting this sweet song. Right to my Victorian Playlist. I am misty eyed! :-)
What magic to hear electric recordings by the Peerless Quartet. They are so few and far between as they were recorded toward the end of the quartet's existence. Compare this with the Tennessee Happy Boys' Edison diamond disc rendition at the Redhotjazz site (look under Harry Reser).
I think Henry saw the hand writing on the wall and was trying to keep going. It's too bad they only made it a couple more years. Once RCA bought Victor they did not renew their contract. Because of this we only have a few electric recordings from them.

What an excellent sound quality.
Sounds like it was recorded in the 60-s !
And an excellent example of quartet harmony singing as well.
Thank you Bob

Interesting upbeat version but I prefer it at the slower tempo. Thanks for letting me know about another version. I was wanting to find one.

I agree probably one of their best.
