@airHaakon yess.. i have practiced basketball ever since i was 7, i was short for my age, so that really made my first 5 years of basketball a pain, now im the tallest in my grade (im 15) and ever since that i had become so much better
@crps3ESA I respect your opinion man. But i'd have to disagree with you there. There are many players who aren't tall but they still manage to be one of the best players in the world. for example Spudd webb, Mugsy bouges, That 5'5 guy whom everyones asking to watch can dunk a 10 ft rim(No joke search it up its called short guy dunks). but soccer still is an amazing and I enjoy watching it especially manchester untd and wayne rooney.
i love playing it too because their so many different moves u can do like behind the back, between the legs, crossover, fade away, spin move and thats just some of the offense. i could go on and on but i wont i'll just recommend u lookin up VC top 100 dunks. and c how crazy bball gets.
Basketball needs better precision a soccer goal is like 20 feet wide and 10 feet tall a basketball hoop is like a foot big thats why a halfcourt in soccer is easier than a basketball one
Join Tackle Football if you like to be a man and take risks, otherwise stand in one place and keep trying to make a dam ball in the basket so goodluck
those comments before mine was posted WERE n ARE HILARIOUS !! HAHAHAHAHAH
b4 i make any comments,i'd like to clear things up, i dont play football and basketball but i love watching them....skill-wise i think football has more variations than basketball, both r tough sports, but i think football is harder.....dunking-wise i love Michael Jordan's dunk the best....
@akashnepali why are you so stupid? a 8 year old can not shoot over a 7 footer unless he allows him to, he will just be blocked all the time. In football if the 8 year old was given a chance to kick the ball into that big goal with no goal keeper im sure he will score. you should sit down and think about what you want to say before you put yourself to shame. Also learn to read dumb ass
yeah soccer is lame! what is soccer anyway? football is the best! by football i mean TRUE FOOTBALL not american football.. that shit should be called american handball instead
soccer is a pussy sport. bunch of guys running around in their underwear kicking a ball! i mean come on people, soccer is the sport that people play if they live in a poor as fuck country or if they cant play any other sport. i can kick a ball in my underwear! and so can u! and so can this person and so can that person and so can that person...
@AAcrossover2913 Lol I find it hilarious then how these "poor as fuck" countries develop better players than countries like the United States ahahahahaha
There is a reason basketball is not a world famous sport, stick to your underground shit bitch while the entire world laughs at your decaying ass and plays a better sport, Football. Actually, the real skill-needed physical GAME IS RUGBY, YOU KNOW THE SPORT AMERICAN FAGBALL RIPPED OFF AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Basketball has the biggest flaw of any sport, height discrimination. Any sport that discriminates against a genetic factor is simply put, a freak show.
Ok both sports are very good and world famous. Well basketball is my sport. it is very tiring because every sigle player have to be in defence and attack at the same time. that means that u never stop runnig or moving. also it has many things that u have to know wich requires many hours of training (flexibility, mind speed, speed, shoot, streagth et.c) lastly don't think that only americans play basketball
@xXPanosXx1 lol wtf...Basketballs fame is NOT EVEN COMPARABLE to Football...Its like the Mona Lisa and the picture you drew of your dick the other day, we all know which is more famous. EuroCup+WorldCup are the biggest sporting events in the entire world. The World Cup is bigger than the fucking olympics.....dont compare this again novice, basketball is shit all skill compared to Football, 5 pussies with a small ass playing arena lmaooo fuck that
@Jetfire7631 what? you got to be kidding. basketball has so many scores. how can basketball requires more skill? don't you see theres very little score in football? that clearly explains that football is harder to score and takes alot more skill to score a goal. and football takes more strength. haven't you seen the football field? its like 3 times bigger than basketball court. football is more athleticism and professional.
@TranThanhHai1 WTF!!!!!!!!!!!!do u think football requires more skills??i bet u cant even dribble in bball.i can play both football and bball well, and my personal opinion is that bball requires more skills.also, please watch a lebron james or michael jordans video on youtube and you'll understand what strength and athleticism mean.also, the length means nothing, let me explain u,in bball u have to run all the time, while in football u dont have to run all the time.
@TranThanhHai1 If u try to walk in bball the other team will score easily.to conclude,i believe that bball requires more skills, atheticism, strength, explosiveness and of cource cleverness.dont forget that in bball the strategies-tactics are much more confusing than in football
@panoslbj no you are sadly incorrect... in soccer, you have to sprint up and down a field 20 yards longer than a football field while maneuvering a ball that isnt attached to you with your least coordinated parts of your body, while in basketball you use your most coordinated part of your body, you hands, and have unlimited subs. in soccer, you have 3 for use in 90+ minutes. You, my comrade, have just been pwned.
@TranThanhHai1 you stupid asshole. to be able to score over tall people and people that jump high you have to train your ass off. you also need skill to carry the ball across the field without losing it. football is just boring and stupid, its amazing its even a sport...
@TranThanhHai1 You've never even played basketball in your life, have you? "You score more in basketball" Of course u do, because there's no goalie you idiot. I'm not saying football/soccer isn't hard, but basketball is just as challanging. I guarantee if you tried to play basketball you could barely even dribble the ball, LOL. In basketball theres only 5 people on each side at a time. You're constantly running up and down the court, i bet your fat ass would get winded in 5 minutes.
@nzd07 Dont try to act like a boss man. yes there 5 people on each side, but how big is a basketball field? a football field is 4 times as big so fuck off dude
@sm0keshell yeah we call it soccer becuz the real skill - needed physical game of football is americas game! take that football aka 'soccer' shit back to europe u fags
basketball is a very good sport, but it is nothing compared with soccer. Soccer is simply the best sport in the whole damn world. It has the biggest event (The world cup). Not even the olympics gets more attention than the world cup. Soccer is simply the beautiful game.
Most people who don't like bball are not talented enough to play the game they haven't got the hight nor physically built. I've played both sports and bball is sooooooooooo much more tiring then football so you need to be fitter to play bball.
for me football all the way..baske ball is only famous in america...whole world supports footie..footie got champions league..english, spanish league, eruo cup, cop america, asia cup, world cup butBB got nothin lol... so footie alll the way
@lvmusicandpnk, "why not just play one at home and one away the one with the most wins or points wins." That is the dumbest idea anyone has ever suggested LMAO. There are new shots seen All the time in basketball, new blocks, new dunk ons, new reverse lay-ups, new passes etc. Go search for a Magic Johnson, Pistol Pete, or Jason Williams highlight tape. Go watch "Kobe Bryant Greatness personaified." Soccer is good too but the world cup has sucked so far.
Firstly football as well as basketball can get boring, Secondly we dont have time outs "at least 3 times a quarter", with 4 quarters which is boring. Secondly football goals are incredible and rarely seen before"look at roberto carlos , unlike basketball every dunk, fade away, assist, 3pointer has been seen before. Right now it is the NBA finals i can only watch them at 3 oclock in the morning which I enjoy because it is a great sport, it gets annoying that they have to play best out of 7 games?
nba is just steriotype basketball. i play basketball and in my opinion nba basketball lost its charm or soul after the 90s. football allways has more commited fans thats why i like the euroleague better
Football is a way of life, many fans work 10 hrs a day, for five days to watch their beloved club on the sixth or seventh day. One bad match and it screws your mind the whole week. In football there are football clubs that represents your city, they have academies, have football teams from under 12 or 10 up. They are truly a football club and represents their respective cities. most of the clubs were established centuries ago.Football is passion.BB have franchises and are just entertainment.
y ar people sayin fooball is more famous it dosnt matter love both sports but most of the time football gets very boring.... nd its harder to make it has a pro basketballer nd thers more skill envoled its not bout fame its about the sport has a hole nd basketball is better
OK moment of truth now read carefully...FACT 1: Football(soccer for USA) is the oldest sport of all,its first sport with ball... FACT 2: Football(soccer) is much more famous in world then Basketball... FACT 3: Football(soccer) have biggest sport event(FIFA World Cup) and that how will always be. So i guess Football Win this sport with ball contest...BTW i don't like either i like Tennis but that is just taste of people not all have to like what you like but i just said some facts.
@ScreenFunR football never seem to progress from what it was 50 years ago
in the nba 50 years ago there where barely any dunks at all. now they can dunk between their legs from the foul line for christ sake. i think football is a medieval sport
@airHaakon well football 50years ago had no driblings had no tricks.. now some players use karate to score a goal. so if you don't watch football don't talk how it does not progress when you have no idea.. and btw some people say you see many scores in basketball while in football you need to wait for weeks well thats not true there is over 50 sometimes 100 games a day.. and i watch some that i got time and others i watch on Fast-Goal tv where they make fast reviewe of game and put it in 10mins.
Football !!!!!!!!!!!! Forever.........................and btw in football you have much better moves than in basketball, much better dribbles look at Ronaldinho for example.
This is all an opinion question. In soccer you have more variety of goals from different angles and in very different ways while in basketball it enters the same just from different distances. In soccer There is better ankle brake plays check out Cristiano ronald and Messi. all possible dunks have already been made while there are some goals that are just unseen. Basketball has too many commercials and stops while soccer just has one brake. There is only one true world sport.
Yes you are right about all you write there...but i am wondering why is football(soccer) still MORE MORE MORE famous then basketball and why is FIFA world cup bigest sport event in WORLD there ever was and ever will be?.
@CmdkyL You are right about all you write but still i am wondering why is Football(soccer) so much more more more famous then baskettrash in WORLD and why is FIFA world cup the bigest sport event there ever was and ever will be..baskettrash can only dream about that kind of sport event
I like both basketball and football, they are both fast paced. Though personally i think playing football is way more exhausting than playing basketball.
That being said, a R9 player wouldn't dominate today as everyone's gotten all around stronger. Great new highly functional stuff is still making its way into the mainstream. Bending shots, while not forgotten have taken a back seat to driven shots, you see alot more elasticos from many different players, and the Ronaldo chop, instant change of direction puts you between the ball and the tackle instantly, all of these are newer developments. I feel CR7 embodies alot of these positive new changes.
As to Brazilian Ronaldo, well, I hesitate to say it but he was ahead of his time. He was one of if not THE first player to combine size (girth and muscle) with skill and pace. Soccer players having been getting more muscular all over recently but Ronaldo was probably the first. Theres a clip of him with like 2 defenders around him and another comes running from the side, tries to knock him ofcourse, and bounces off him. The guy was a tank, had a nose for the goal, and above average skills.
in football are taller players slower but not all of them. Ibrahimovic is very tall and also fast running. in football, if you are small, you have to be fast; eg. : messi, walcott, lennon, tevez.
And yeah, I slightly prefer Soccer over basketball because I have more passion for the game and the competition is bigger. Bball has alot of things I like over soccer where last minute of game counts the deciding winner and the final buzzer-beater shot, dunks, etc.
Hey I see that you have CR videos in your page. What do you think R9 Ronaldo
@Violentrl As far as height goes, at a certain point it becomes detremental when changing direction which is a huge aspect of soccer. Bball hasn't made any leaps forward other than better physicality. Soccer has that and new playstyles/moves/shot types coming out all the time. The people he feel it lacks scoring don't know how to appreciate the good play going on constantly. I'm also an anti-fan of the last mins in bball. The fouling and etc that drags the game out.
Soccer really began it's dominance 45 years before basketball was even invented. Basketball took many aspects of soccer and creating a game of it's own. It's matter of what suits your taste better. One may say that a game of soccer takes too long and another may say basketball uses hands and easy to throw it into a net. There is right or wrong. It's just personal preference. Btw, I'm not trying to defend my point on why basketball is better.
Maybe you should quit shoving your beliefs on others. Everyone has opinions and they're entitled to it. Personally, I love soccer(check my page) and basketball aswell. Lets just put it this way, the game of soccer has many aspects that are better than basketball and vice-versa. Yes, height matters alot in bball but so do soccer(It really does). I'd say that both take years of mastering.
@Violentrl Soccer doesn't have a body-type bias. Messi is around 5'5, and Ronaldo is about 6'4. They're both considered some of the best in the world. Bball is a limited sport and thats not an opinion its a fact. Theres no limit on the amount of times you can juggle/dribble/whatever a soccer ball. The rules don't hinder gameplay at all. I wouldn't feel the need to "shove my beliefs on others" if A. Basketball wasn't dominating espn and/or B. people didn't make stupid comments discrediting it.
Yeah it's true that there is more capabilities in soccer than basketball as the field is much bigger than the court. Personally, I think that height does factor in soccer simply because when a player is taller, they usually have more power, strides, field vision, chance of header, etc. Well, coming from a fan of both sports, I say that people who dislike soccer will say that not enough scoring, athletic abilities and such. Basketball is a new sport, you gotta remember that... Cont...
Right ofcourse because Soccer doesn't have 20 odd moves I could name off the top of my head, each made famous by a single player. Whereas basketball, has what 3 variations of the crossover. Everything is else drive stop short, drive pass, or drive shoot. Soccer has no style? I guess you're right. No one in soccer sticks their tongue out before they shoot. Tell a brazilian and an englishmen they have the same soccer style. Ur dumb
If you intentionall tackle someone from behind, its a foul as that has proven very dangeorus. If you lose a 1v1, say someone does the "ocus pocus" on you and you fall on your ass and your opoponet is clear, and you dont have the speed to get back and cleanly tackle the person and the just take their legs out, that is an automatic foul and an expulsion from the game. To get the ball "into the paint" in football, it needs amazing team chemistry and a very good corss. Watch: "Football team goals":D
But Id still rather see an overhead kick (or a knucling free kick) and a stepover dribble, or a rainbow flick. That my friend takes more time in training to master. Gotta admit it. Anyway to score a dunk is the equivalent of a header. In both, plyometric training will do you good. Gotta get as high as possible to win the header. thing is in a header, strength also plays a role as you MUST block the defenders from winning the header. You wont get fouls if defender pushes you off the ball.
Thank you sir. I just feel that in terms of skill, football (american soccer) definetly has more to offer both in variety and depth. Basketball is about being great in a much smaller skill set while also having the physical tools (largely genetic) to compete. I can appreciate the fact that the average person won't be able to watch their first football match and enjoy it like they would a basketball game.
Football is the best sport but i like basketball more than football that doesnt make football shit my opinion aint a fact is an Opinion and i watch a lil bit of football best team Manchester United am half wales might aswell football somethimes am getting some british in me XD
What creativity is there in holding a ball or for that matter bouncing it. Defenders attack the man FIRST as any decent dribbler offers very little oppurtunity at a steal (consequently y steals are a big stat in bball). The difficulty and neccesisity of possesion in football (american soccer) forces players to be creative. Furthmore, there is more strength to be found in your legs aswell as greater usable surface area (ie everything) all dynamics that hands, arms, and basketball will always lack
@tghetto5 If by case closed you mean you can't argue my points, this case was closed a long time ago. Besides, I said "case closed" about 3 comments ago. So now you can add un-original to your long resume of shortcomings. "lol"ing at your own lack of wit just proves my point, basketball is a simpleton's sport. A very tall simpleton's sport albeit.
No, its just hard to talk to people like you. People who hold emotional beliefs about a topic they no nothing about yet defend their position vehemently. I mean you dont even know what a post player is yet you feel like you hold the athority to adequately crtique the game. So I figure instead of trying to argue with a closed minded person who knows jack about the game, I'd rather just leave. So peace out, BTW i bet flyer is right and youre trash at soccer. Most Americans are.
tghetto5, bball for sure takes skill. Football also takes skill. But hcdanger has a point. If you look at both games, you'll see that making a point in bball is much easier. Dont let the goal sizes trick you. A 3 pointer is the equivalent of a freekick. You have to essentially get the ball through an obstacle course. You have to get past the wall, but at the same time keep it low enough to score. Bending the ball around the wall is much more complicated. I play both football and basketball.
I dont think anyone here is arguing that it's harder to score in basketball. That would be retarded, like arguing that its harder to stop a score in football. I think Basketball is obviously a more balanced game where shooting percentage is at about 50%. In soccer even the worst defensive teams can stop the best offensive teams over 85% of the time. Soccer obviously favors defence, basketball is more balanced which creates a more entertaining game IMHO.
It takes more than a smoth fingeroll or a cross over to get the ball in football and just run at the goal, seeing as you wont get a penalty if someone touches you a little bit. it takes something special man, trust me. In bball, it happens all the time, but in football you have to take your time and be way more creative to work around the defense. Football is very defensive, so to score the attack has to be able to match up. But I love the dunks and "crosovers" in bball. condtd...
Yeah just watched that video, just proves that football is definitly one of the most beautiful sports when played correctly. Basketballs beautiful also. For a great example of the individual aspect of basketball search "Kobe Bryant Greatness Personified" and for a more team oriented outlook on ball search "Los Angeles Lakers Showtime." Both SHOULD make you realize that BOTH sports are very hard to master, and rather you're Kobe or Pele, you've probably spen hours working on your craft.
And again dribbling/possesion in general is broken in bball to the point that an offensive player can push around the defender essentially someone who can't do anything except try to physically block him. Pushing people around is not a skill. In soccer it takes way more skill to possess a ball. Dispossesing someone is feasible in most situations. If your friend isn't gaining anything from his practices its because hes not practicing effectively not that he naturally sucks. Training is everything
By inacurately exaggerating how difficult soccers offence is, you're by default downgrading its defence. And by simplifying basketballs offence you're in effect complicating its defence. I think this video was made to compare the entertainment value of each sport not the actual aspects. Anyone who thinks they can accurately decipher between which sport is more difficult is retarded. As for skill set it's obvious that on average soccer players attain more. However, skills positions in>>
Defense will always be less complicated when the goal is so much smaller and undefended in the same way that a football goal is. If we defined difficulty as to realms of skill than (as I've outlined) football is more skilled (greater/more diverse skill set no heavy slant towards ideal bodytypes). Defense in football is very complicated. I've illustrated football's offensive complications in reponse to to radioflyer's comments specifically but I'd be happy to highlight the defenisve side aswell.
(con) Basketball such as PG, will probably attain more skills than football players on average (since creativity is endless with your hands and limited with your feet.) Bottom line is to be a successful wing player or football player it's going to take hours and hours in the gym or on the field. (Goal keepers, and Post players will acquire less skills than strikers etc. and wing players.) Also, basketball players will probably include more weight training in their regime than football players.
I've been saying that bball's defense is very uncomplicated rather than the opposite. I've never even heard of "post players" and rather doubt you know what you're talking about. Creativity is stifiled by the fact that creativity isn't neccesary. Possesion is broken in bball. Watch freestyling footballers. Way more creative than anything bballers are doing such as street moves 90% of which are illegal or won't work in real games. Juggling is way more creative than catching/throwing case closed.
Most of yesterday, I was watching college basketball games. Kentucky vs. (cant remember the other team), most of the possesions have fouls. When you charge at the basket, the rules are structured so that if anyone makes you go off blance even slightly, you go the free throw line. A slight touch is a foul, literally. With football, people purposely bring each other down, and thats normal. Nani, got a shoulder dislocation because of a tackle and it wasnt a foul.
Bball players are still way more slanted towards being 1 bodytype ie Really Tall. You can't deny that soccer has a more diverse representation of body types so drop your lost argument. Its not subjective to say that soccer takes more skill to excel at. Soccer has a more diverse skill set. Bball requires you to be really good at a few things. Soccer requires you to be good at many things. My off the ball movement and workrate was great in bball, all from soccer.
cont. I'm 5"9 and can grab the rim However I can't shoot well and before I started working out regularly I was easily pushed around and still sometimes am by naturally bigger guys. Scoring is easier when the target is closer to eye level. Add in rebounds, tip offs, shot blocks, dunking, up high passes, you name it, and height gives you a nearly insurmountable advantage over someone 5'9. Height is not a skill. Heading, diverse striking, ball control, first touch, accurate well wieghted passes are
"No hands rule" That completely changes the game dipshit. All of those bball rules were implemented later in the game's development because it was a limited game that needed adjusting to keep it somewhat playable. And your stats are whack. Any one play could be the game changer. The build up, the suspense, and the moment of truth are way more climatic than the average bball game. The only thing that compares are last second clinchers and late 3s. Sorry that soccer is not for losers with adhd.
In Jordan's crossover tutorial he does not change hands, only direction. However, he does say that to get the ball off him in that situation 9 times out of 10 it will constitute a foul. Point being, possession in basketball is broken. To the point that the shot clock keeps the game from being stagnant. "3inthekey" and the 3point line stop freakishly tall players from completely dominating. A decent dribbler won't be disposessed unless he tries to take on players directly which=gay/lame/stupid
Cough Ryan Giggs cough cough Zidane cough udon'tknowwhatyou'retalking about cough cough. If you don't believe gymnist peak at around 18 look it up yourself. The point is they aren't cognitively adults by 18 and won't be as mentally sharpened/practiced as they could be past 18. The age requirement for gymnist has been raised TWICE since the 70s as smaller gymnist usually dominated. Your addressed arugments suck balls.
Going pro or D1 in bball is based largely on body type and better physical training rather than skill. I'm not saying soccer is hard for me dumb fuck I'm saying it takes more practice to excel at it than bball. Height is an enormous advantage in bball and a relatively skilled ideal body type player will beat out a ridiculously skilled 5'10 150lb guy anyday. If soccer is popular because its cheap y is cricket bigger in poverty stricken India or Sri Lanka? Gymnamist peak at 18ish. True story idiot
My point in listing soccer vocab is to say that sport specific vocab doesn't make the game more sophiscated The equivalent of a crossover in soccer doesn't even have a name bcuz it falls under the mundane realm of normal dribbling Bball is very cut and dry with little room for originality/creativity when it comes to efficency Thus, bballers have a name for a move that moves the ball from 1 hand to the other Driving/shooting/jumping ability pretty much summarize the game w/ passing here and there

Rugbylover39 1 year ago
@TranThanhHai1 WTF!!!!!!!!!!!!do u think football requires more skills??i bet u cant even dribble in bball.i can play both football and bball well, and my personal opinion is that bball requires more skills.also, please watch a lebron james or michael jordans video on youtube and you'll understand what strength and athleticism mean.also, the length means nothing, let me explain u,in bball u have to run all the time, while in football u dont have to run all the time.
panoslbj 1 year ago
@TranThanhHai1 If u try to walk in bball the other team will score easily.to conclude,i believe that bball requires more skills, atheticism, strength, explosiveness and of cource cleverness.dont forget that in bball the strategies-tactics are much more confusing than in football
panoslbj 1 year ago
@panoslbj no you are sadly incorrect... in soccer, you have to sprint up and down a field 20 yards longer than a football field while maneuvering a ball that isnt attached to you with your least coordinated parts of your body, while in basketball you use your most coordinated part of your body, you hands, and have unlimited subs. in soccer, you have 3 for use in 90+ minutes. You, my comrade, have just been pwned.

Football is a way of life, many fans work 10 hrs a day, for five days to watch their beloved club on the sixth or seventh day. One bad match and it screws your mind the whole week. In football there are football clubs that represents your city, they have academies, have football teams from under 12 or 10 up. They are truly a football club and represents their respective cities. most of the clubs were established centuries ago.Football is passion.BB have franchises and are just entertainment.

I feel CR7 embodies alot of these positive new changes.
hcdangerfield211 2 years ago
As to Brazilian Ronaldo, well, I hesitate to say it but he was ahead of his time. He was one of if not THE first player to combine size (girth and muscle) with skill and pace. Soccer players having been getting more muscular all over recently but Ronaldo was probably the first. Theres a clip of him with like 2 defenders around him and another comes running from the side, tries to knock him ofcourse, and bounces off him. The guy was a tank, had a nose for the goal, and above average skills.
hcdangerfield211 2 years ago
in football are taller players slower but not all of them. Ibrahimovic is very tall and also fast running. in football, if you are small, you have to be fast; eg. : messi, walcott, lennon, tevez.
but you don't see often tall player with speed
thaitanium2005 2 years ago
And yeah, I slightly prefer Soccer over basketball because I have more passion for the game and the competition is bigger. Bball has alot of things I like over soccer where last minute of game counts the deciding winner and the final buzzer-beater shot, dunks, etc.
Hey I see that you have CR videos in your page. What do you think R9 Ronaldo
Violentrl 2 years ago
@Violentrl As far as height goes, at a certain point it becomes detremental when changing direction which is a huge aspect of soccer. Bball hasn't made any leaps forward other than better physicality. Soccer has that and new playstyles/moves/shot types coming out all the time. The people he feel it lacks scoring don't know how to appreciate the good play going on constantly. I'm also an anti-fan of the last mins in bball. The fouling and etc that drags the game out.
hcdangerfield211 2 years ago
Cont...
Violentrl 2 years ago

Heres my preference of the two sports:
Freekick>3 pointer
Dunks>Goals
Penalties>Freethrows
Ankle breakers>Stepovers
Saves>Blocks
Long basketball shot>Long soccer goals
Soccer passes>Bball passes
That's just me

Maybe you should quit shoving your beliefs on others. Everyone has opinions and they're entitled to it. Personally, I love soccer(check my page) and basketball aswell. Lets just put it this way, the game of soccer has many aspects that are better than basketball and vice-versa. Yes, height matters alot in bball but so do soccer(It really does). I'd say that both take years of mastering.
Violentrl 2 years ago
@Violentrl Soccer doesn't have a body-type bias. Messi is around 5'5, and Ronaldo is about 6'4. They're both considered some of the best in the world. Bball is a limited sport and thats not an opinion its a fact. Theres no limit on the amount of times you can juggle/dribble/whatever a soccer ball. The rules don't hinder gameplay at all. I wouldn't feel the need to "shove my beliefs on others" if A. Basketball wasn't dominating espn and/or B. people didn't make stupid comments discrediting it.
hcdangerfield211 2 years ago
Yeah it's true that there is more capabilities in soccer than basketball as the field is much bigger than the court. Personally, I think that height does factor in soccer simply because when a player is taller, they usually have more power, strides, field vision, chance of header, etc. Well, coming from a fan of both sports, I say that people who dislike soccer will say that not enough scoring, athletic abilities and such. Basketball is a new sport, you gotta remember that... Cont...

haha no comparison. in soccer u can have no style what so ever.
KingzofNBA2k10 2 years ago
Right ofcourse because Soccer doesn't have 20 odd moves I could name off the top of my head, each made famous by a single player. Whereas basketball, has what 3 variations of the crossover. Everything is else drive stop short, drive pass, or drive shoot. Soccer has no style? I guess you're right. No one in soccer sticks their tongue out before they shoot. Tell a brazilian and an englishmen they have the same soccer style. Ur dumb
hcdangerfield211 2 years ago
If you intentionall tackle someone from behind, its a foul as that has proven very dangeorus. If you lose a 1v1, say someone does the "ocus pocus" on you and you fall on your ass and your opoponet is clear, and you dont have the speed to get back and cleanly tackle the person and the just take their legs out, that is an automatic foul and an expulsion from the game. To get the ball "into the paint" in football, it needs amazing team chemistry and a very good corss. Watch: "Football team goals":D
aspiringfootballer 2 years ago
But Id still rather see an overhead kick (or a knucling free kick) and a stepover dribble, or a rainbow flick. That my friend takes more time in training to master. Gotta admit it. Anyway to score a dunk is the equivalent of a header. In both, plyometric training will do you good. Gotta get as high as possible to win the header. thing is in a header, strength also plays a role as you MUST block the defenders from winning the header. You wont get fouls if defender pushes you off the ball.

maxpein0 2 years ago
Thank you sir. I just feel that in terms of skill, football (american soccer) definetly has more to offer both in variety and depth. Basketball is about being great in a much smaller skill set while also having the physical tools (largely genetic) to compete. I can appreciate the fact that the average person won't be able to watch their first football match and enjoy it like they would a basketball game.

Furthmore, there is more strength to be found in your legs aswell as greater usable surface area (ie everything) all dynamics that hands, arms, and basketball will always lack

hcdangerfield211 2 years ago
No, its just hard to talk to people like you. People who hold emotional beliefs about a topic they no nothing about yet defend their position vehemently. I mean you dont even know what a post player is yet you feel like you hold the athority to adequately crtique the game. So I figure instead of trying to argue with a closed minded person who knows jack about the game, I'd rather just leave. So peace out, BTW i bet flyer is right and youre trash at soccer. Most Americans are.
tghetto5 2 years ago 7
tghetto5, bball for sure takes skill. I play both football and basketball.
aspiringfootballer 2 years ago
I dont think anyone here is arguing that it's harder to score in basketball. That would be retarded, like arguing that its harder to stop a score in football. I think Basketball is obviously a more balanced game where shooting percentage is at about 50%. In soccer even the worst defensive teams can stop the best offensive teams over 85% of the time. Soccer obviously favors defence, basketball is more balanced which creates a more entertaining game IMHO.
tghetto5 2 years ago
It takes more than a smoth fingeroll or a cross over to get the ball in football and just run at the goal, seeing as you wont get a penalty if someone touches you a little bit. it takes something special man, trust me. In bball, it happens all the time, but in football you have to take your time and be way more creative to work around the defense. Football is very defensive, so to score the attack has to be able to match up. But I love the dunks and "crosovers" in bball. condtd...

aspiringfootballer 2 years ago
Yeah just watched that video, just proves that football is definitly one of the most beautiful sports when played correctly. Basketballs beautiful also. For a great example of the individual aspect of basketball search "Kobe Bryant Greatness Personified" and for a more team oriented outlook on ball search "Los Angeles Lakers Showtime." Both SHOULD make you realize that BOTH sports are very hard to master, and rather you're Kobe or Pele, you've probably spen hours working on your craft.
tghetto5 2 years ago
And again dribbling/possesion in general is broken in bball to the point that an offensive player can push around the defender essentially someone who can't do anything except try to physically block him. Pushing people around is not a skill. In soccer it takes way more skill to possess a ball. Dispossesing someone is feasible in most situations. If your friend isn't gaining anything from his practices its because hes not practicing effectively not that he naturally sucks. Training is everything
hcdangerfield211 2 years ago
By inacurately exaggerating how difficult soccers offence is, you're by default downgrading its defence. And by simplifying basketballs offence you're in effect complicating its defence. I think this video was made to compare the entertainment value of each sport not the actual aspects. Anyone who thinks they can accurately decipher between which sport is more difficult is retarded. As for skill set it's obvious that on average soccer players attain more. However, skills positions in>>
tghetto5 2 years ago
Defense will always be less complicated when the goal is so much smaller and undefended in the same way that a football goal is. If we defined difficulty as to realms of skill than (as I've outlined) football is more skilled (greater/more diverse skill set no heavy slant towards ideal bodytypes). Defense in football is very complicated. I've illustrated football's offensive complications in reponse to to radioflyer's comments specifically but I'd be happy to highlight the defenisve side aswell.
hcdangerfield211 2 years ago
(con) Basketball such as PG, will probably attain more skills than football players on average (since creativity is endless with your hands and limited with your feet.) Bottom line is to be a successful wing player or football player it's going to take hours and hours in the gym or on the field. (Goal keepers, and Post players will acquire less skills than strikers etc. and wing players.) Also, basketball players will probably include more weight training in their regime than football players.
tghetto5 2 years ago
I've been saying that bball's defense is very uncomplicated rather than the opposite. I've never even heard of "post players" and rather doubt you know what you're talking about. Creativity is stifiled by the fact that creativity isn't neccesary. Possesion is broken in bball. Watch freestyling footballers. Way more creative than anything bballers are doing such as street moves 90% of which are illegal or won't work in real games. Juggling is way more creative than catching/throwing case closed.
hcdangerfield211 2 years ago
Most of yesterday, I was watching college basketball games. Kentucky vs. (cant remember the other team), most of the possesions have fouls. When you charge at the basket, the rules are structured so that if anyone makes you go off blance even slightly, you go the free throw line. A slight touch is a foul, literally. With football, people purposely bring each other down, and thats normal. Nani, got a shoulder dislocation because of a tackle and it wasnt a foul.
aspiringfootballer 2 years ago
Bball players are still way more slanted towards being 1 bodytype ie Really Tall. You can't deny that soccer has a more diverse representation of body types so drop your lost argument. Its not subjective to say that soccer takes more skill to excel at. Soccer has a more diverse skill set. Bball requires you to be really good at a few things. Soccer requires you to be good at many things. My off the ball movement and workrate was great in bball, all from soccer.
hcdangerfield211 2 years ago
Heading, diverse striking, ball control, first touch, accurate well wieghted passes are
hcdangerfield211 2 years ago
"No hands rule" That completely changes the game dipshit. All of those bball rules were implemented later in the game's development because it was a limited game that needed adjusting to keep it somewhat playable. And your stats are whack. Any one play could be the game changer. The build up, the suspense, and the moment of truth are way more climatic than the average bball game. The only thing that compares are last second clinchers and late 3s. Sorry that soccer is not for losers with adhd.

1keegansdad 2 years ago
In Jordan's crossover tutorial he does not change hands, only direction. However, he does say that to get the ball off him in that situation 9 times out of 10 it will constitute a foul. Point being, possession in basketball is broken. To the point that the shot clock keeps the game from being stagnant. "3inthekey" and the 3point line stop freakishly tall players from completely dominating. A decent dribbler won't be disposessed unless he tries to take on players directly which=gay/lame/stupid
