The sane way to get to level 99 is to equip the demon familiar (lv 99), go to the castle entrance with the merman, jump up on the ledge all the way to the left so you cannot be hit, and let the demon kill the merman (who shall continuously appear). Leave your console on for hours and hours (either during the day when you're at work or school). Try to go for 8 to 10 hours a day or more (though make sure you turn your console off occasionally because it'll get hot!). Do this for a few months :)_

I agree with Rutherfort , your kills number does not match up,with your charecter level , I have almost 3 times as many kills as shown here.And I'm at level 87, It's clear to me that you used a gameshark to get these stats. and not to sound like an ass but using this method in the upside down castle room with the octopus's will be quicker
@MrWickedmidnight69 The puppet spears and shields don't add to kill count, and power of sire doesn't kill the central sword fast enough by this method. For more information check gamefaqs(dot)com and look for low kill count guides for SOTN. This is one of the methods of leveling without raising kill count but it's by no means the only one. Other rely on glitches and such though.

Bah,that's the weakest way to do that and the slowest. Try playing the game on lots of luck code and then battling it out to reach level 99. It may seem easy way later in the game but i promise that it's like playing on extreme mode during most of the game till you reach the upside down library. Also so you people know, if you want all your familiars to level 99 than a really good way to get them to 99 without even playing is to go to the beginning where the zombies are and stand at end of hall where they can hit you by walking into you. Equip the Medusa Shield and than use something heavy ( I used the edge of another playstation controller) to weigh down the O button and than when they walk into you it will kill them giving the familiar exp. It's basically infinite exp.

by the wy people, an easy way to get hi hp is to do the 'infinity' glitch by going to the waterfall part of the underground caverns, use the wolf to run through the bottom left of the water fall (where the ice women are) skp the first and last one. then when your head hits the wall in the water and you change back into alucard, go back to the ice women and jump into one of them. then go to the place where u get heart and hp max and they'll be there. even when u leave the room and come back.
im level 69, i got 2018 hp... seeing as im level 69 i think everything pretty much gives me 1xp =[ ill try doing it this way. but i expect it to take me AGES to get to level 99...

I tried to get it with and without the brothers glitch and for some reason I cant buy the duplicator. Is there some special time I can get this or after I beat a one of the bosses can I buy it, cause its just not showing up.
The armor guards right of the inverted clock room are worth a few thousand xp each. at around level 50 they're worth about 5000xp. easy way to kill them is to poison gas cloud over them. it worked for me!

He's using duplicator(s) and Power of Sire. Combine the two and you'll never run out of PoS to use. You can level like mad with it to the point that if you play the game right you can get this WELL before you even play the inverted castle. And once lvled, can nearly one-hit kill ANYTHING in the game.
It's stupid how every enemy will eventually only give you 1 exp point, it makes no sense later in the game when killing Mermans in the early stages makes you level up million times faster than killing tougher enemies later
You could Also do this at the dark octopus, which grants 11 EXP, but you have to tap "X" or "A" in order to leave screen, so techincally this is faster.
Dude he is just gaining more experience points to level up. I believe that monster/sword gives you a lot of experience points. That is only if you want to level up to level 99 but not require to do so. You could easily beat Dracula at level 40.
hes using both "power of sire" at the same time while wearing the duplicator to kill the spectral sword and the spears/shields that surround it giving him alot of experience .
I got the duplicator too, however i did this trick close to the giant clock of the Marble Galery of the inverted castle (near to the place of the final battle) since there were this Iron Giants (i dont remember their exact name) who gave you a lot of EXP, altough they take away a lot of HP from you if you get hit.Altough i never really reached Level 99, altough i reached 70, which was close (anyway that level as well for my weapons made my battle with Shaft/Dracula a piece of cake C: )
failed, the point isnt just to get to level 99, its about haveing 99 in eatch stat as you get to level 99, notice when u level up, its random what stats that go up, only one stat might go up *random, all 4 stats may go one up more random :) so every level you gota watch if all ur stats went up by 1, even in luck mode its possible to get 99 in all stats if you allways get 1+ in all stats per level up :P duh
I have my limits with completionist things like this. I've never bothered to level anything up to 99 in any game (although in Lost Odyssey, I've been lost in the Temple of Elightenment long enough to hit the 80's, so I just might).
I did find all of the souls in Aria of Sorrow... twice.

I did, however, save up for *two* duplicators, just to see if anything interesting would happen when you equipped two of them. :-( Nothing.

If you pause the clip at the beginning and study the screenshot more closely, you'll see that the guy has a "Power of Sire" in each hand + the Duplicator item.
It's one of the handful of items that could pretty much destroy any non-boss monster in one shot, guaranteed.
Can't you do the same as this in the reverse caverns room with all the dark octopi? Since at high levels everything gives you 1 exp, the idea here is to kill as many as you can instantly (I think)
Or you can put yourself on the stair in the start of the game by the zombies with L99 demon or sword fam. And go out an enjoy the sun while they do the grind. ;D
yep this is how im leveling up to 99. my strategy: kill Guardians till about level 68 or so. then go here and power of sire the spectral sword to 99. tho this takes a long time, its the best method.
Another way is slower but you get more exp, in the upside down castle go to the clock room, and go to the doors with the golden nights, Equip the fire absorb circlet thing I think it is a Ruby Circlet and duplicate power of sires or pentagrams and keep on going in and spamming them! It's how I got to level 83 from 47 in 3 hours :P
The clock room is easily the best place to go, for certain level that is, but the exp given to higher levels is much lower, so i guess this is the best solution.
There's certainly an easier way, just get a turbo controller, rubber band a button, then box zombies. I did that for my Naked Alucard run, I left the game on while I went on vacation.

how long did it take you 2 years. after 70 enimies only give you 1XP... you tend to want to try new things. Even though Brute force is fun as hell. Its still fun to cheat because it still makes the game have its secrets.

what you can also do (some might refer to it as cheating or not really playing the game) is, you get the medusa shield, or the dark shield, equip it and go to the entrance just before the room where death took all your weapons. have your back facing the set of stairs, get out one of the shields and voila. you can put a weight or a rubber band on the button and leave it running for a week or so. not the fastest way, but it works. great for leveling familiars too.
For any of those who are unsure, the amount of experience that an enemy gives you is dependent on your level.
If you're on the same level as the enemy, then you get the usual experience, but if you are on a higher level, you get less. The higher you go, the less you get, which is why the Guardians end up giving 1 point.
I always hated that. The highest level I reached was about 71 or 72 and I gave up from there. Part of the fun of these types of games is leveling up, so that's one of my gripes about SotN. Thank God Konami fixed that in subsequent games.
Just go to the inverted clock room, and equip the "shield rod" and "Alucard's shield". You will find some golden warriors there.(I forgot their names) Press square and circle at the same time to activate the spell of the shield, and then just walk towards the warriors while holding the shield, that would take like 225 damage every second and each warrior gives you like 1500 exp. Do this for like 10 minutes and you'll level up like 40 times.
they might have removed that from xbox 360 arcade, tried it and damn, at first u get some levels but not only 400 max for each "golden warrior", every other monster gives me 1exp... dunno whats wrong (lvl 68)

first 10 lv: 1 HP/LV up
2nd 10 lv: 3 HP/LV up
3rd 10 lv: 6 HP/LV up
and then 10, 20, 30 ,40 HP/lv up etc
the last 10 lv ups gives 200 HP if i remember sorrectly

failed, the point isnt just to get to level 99, its about haveing 99 in eatch stat as you get to level 99, notice when u level up, its random what stats that go up, only one stat might go up *random, all 4 stats may go one up more random :) so every level you gota watch if all ur stats went up by 1, even in luck mode its possible to get 99 in all stats if you allways get 1+ in all stats per level up :P duh

I have my limits with completionist things like this. I've never bothered to level anything up to 99 in any game (although in Lost Odyssey, I've been lost in the Temple of Elightenment long enough to hit the 80's, so I just might).
I did find all of the souls in Aria of Sorrow... twice.

Heheh... I'm with you, VeggyZombie; I could never be bothered to level up to 99 in this game, despite discovering the same trick used in this video. I only went to 70-something. I did, however, save up for *two* duplicators, just to see if anything interesting would happen when you equipped two of them. :-( Nothing.

well if you equip 2 it makes your int go down so you can use your knives to fight the octo monstert things for the blood sword <.< i hope you can get what im saying out of this

If you pause the clip at the beginning and study the screenshot more closely, you'll see that the guy has a "Power of Sire" in each hand + the Duplicator item.
It's one of the handful of items that could pretty much destroy any non-boss monster in one shot, guaranteed.

Can't you do the same as this in the reverse caverns room with all the dark octopi? Since at high levels everything gives you 1 exp, the idea here is to kill as many as you can instantly (I think)

Or you can put yourself on the stair in the start of the game by the zombies with L99 demon or sword fam. And go out an enjoy the sun while they do the grind. ;D

yep this is how im leveling up to 99. my strategy: kill Guardians till about level 68 or so. then go here and power of sire the spectral sword to 99. tho this takes a long time, its the best method.

Another way is slower but you get more exp, in the upside down castle go to the clock room, and go to the doors with the golden nights, Equip the fire absorb circlet thing I think it is a Ruby Circlet and duplicate power of sires or pentagrams and keep on going in and spamming them! It's how I got to level 83 from 47 in 3 hours :P

When your in the room with the Clock, go to right or the left, it doesn't matter for the guys are in both sides. :)

The clock room is easily the best place to go, for certain level that is, but the exp given to higher levels is much lower, so i guess this is the best solution.

There's certainly an easier way, just get a turbo controller, rubber band a button, then box zombies. I did that for my Naked Alucard run, I left the game on while I went on vacation.

how long did it take you 2 years. after 70 enimies only give you 1XP... you tend to want to try new things. Even though Brute force is fun as hell. Its still fun to cheat because it still makes the game have its secrets.

i reached the level 99 in this mode: i go to the inverted marble gallery and reached a room full of medusas the i equip the dark shield n' then i've put my ps2 slim above the circle bottom of my psp then i've waited alucard livelling without doing a shit!!!
PS: psp rules because is the easyest console that you can reach level 99 and is the best castlevania SOTN

what you can also do (some might refer to it as cheating or not really playing the game) is, you get the medusa shield, or the dark shield, equip it and go to the entrance just before the room where death took all your weapons. have your back facing the set of stairs, get out one of the shields and voila. you can put a weight or a rubber band on the button and leave it running for a week or so. not the fastest way, but it works. great for leveling familiars too.

For any of those who are unsure, the amount of experience that an enemy gives you is dependent on your level.
If you're on the same level as the enemy, then you get the usual experience, but if you are on a higher level, you get less. The higher you go, the less you get, which is why the Guardians end up giving 1 point.

I always hated that. The highest level I reached was about 71 or 72 and I gave up from there. Part of the fun of these types of games is leveling up, so that's one of my gripes about SotN. Thank God Konami fixed that in subsequent games.

Just go to the inverted clock room, and equip the "shield rod" and "Alucard's shield". You will find some golden warriors there.(I forgot their names) Press square and circle at the same time to activate the spell of the shield, and then just walk towards the warriors while holding the shield, that would take like 225 damage every second and each warrior gives you like 1500 exp. Do this for like 10 minutes and you'll level up like 40 times.
That's easier.

they might have removed that from xbox 360 arcade, tried it and damn, at first u get some levels but not only 400 max for each "golden warrior", every other monster gives me 1exp... dunno whats wrong (lvl 68)
