Horatio has learned his lesson about keeping men busy. I've watched this several time but I've backed up the bit where he gives Mathews a promotion I don't know how many times. 18 years and it takes a boy to do the right thing. Give this man with all his experiance a reward that he should have had long ago. Neopolian did this. He didn't go by birth or $, he promoted men by their actions and the men loved him for it./ That phrase, "nor-west by west by quarter west" should be a song! It sings.
For those who think Robert Lindsay (Tellew) has sold out to comedy, you obviously have little idea of his multi talents. I'm old enough to remember him in Citizen Smith - a 70s sitcom!! I've also seen him in the musical Me and My Girl - he can sing and dance! He's a fantastic actor who can do anything. I don't think he'd continue with My Family if he didn't enjoy doing it - he has far more going for him than that. I'm sure it's perfect so that he can slot some theatre work into his life too.
@bemms321 I'm looking up some of the things he's done. This is the first thing I've seen him in and it's strange to see him in something else. :) You probably know Ioan is trying to get Hornblower going again by pushing for Horatio to be seen as an older officer. Foster did write that he became an Admiral I believe. And before Ioan gets too much further than the character in the books, the BBC should do this. How many of us would love to see it get made? To see all these actors united again?
@Songsmirth When I was at school I saw him on the stage in Richard III and he was awesome! I'm not a fan of My Family, but I agree that he's a really good actor.
here's what I don't get. Leftenant Chad is ordered to Board the larger vessel, the one with the molasses and report to any English port for "Orders", but later on when they board the Papillon, he is back on the Indy
Chad proceeded with Pellew's orders. Took the ship to the nearest english port. Indi picks up the missing crew from Hornblowers party, and goes back to base. Just so happens Chad is there, and so they pick him up again at the same time
Anyone ever noticed the music on this series is brilliantly crafted?! It's modern classical moviescoring, but with a distinct baroque feel to it. Nice blend! Any classically schooled folk care to comment? I'm out of my league on this, theoretically.

@dxwallace easy to explain really.

Man I love Pellew. I'm sad he's now in comedy sitcoms.... It's like his will to fight has been sapped.
