  • Well, I've bought a new Rhodes Mark and I'm VERY DESAPPOINTED !!!!!! My dream became a Nightmare ! Over n° 51 B note, sound is perfect : i can feel the hammer and notes get "Brillance" exellent metallic sound. But under n° 51 B note, sound is not good AT ALL; exactly like simple synthetiser. VERY DESAPPOINTED! A SHAME !!! " Yours sounds better !

  • If you want to record the Rhodes without any effect pedals, you can unplug the RCA jack under the lid, (rear left as you are facing the Rhodes), and take a signal off the RCA jack direct without getting any "coloring from the "Bass boost" & "volume" knobs, (which I believe are the same electronics on a Fender P-Bass).

  • Way cool piano. Classic machine. Timeless instrument.

  • bad quality, but one can hear the rhodes sounds good and funky, i like it when it sounds more wurlitzer-like more than too soft

  • Yeahh boy ;D thats awesome

  • It was done by a good tech, why are you recording it in such a bad way?

  • You dont want to record it like that. You are masking the tone. Start over!!!

  • what are the play squares on top of the tonebars in the higher register in the first 30 seconds of the vid?

  • @HammondB200 They are tonebar clips, they add sustain to the higher notes on the piano.

  • I'm confused. You tuned a piano but it sounds like a synth.

  • @MrChameleon2010

    RESEARCH!!!

  • @DaveLowe28 If you don't have the answer then I understand.

  • hi what machine do you use for the rythm samples?

  • FUnky man! And to the left had voicings guy elektromin - whatever lol You don't have to be a piano guru to be funky - as a matter of fact it helps with the creative mistakes the less technical you are. Be original not a copy.

  • Nice rhodes sound and good funky feeling! But you need to practice a few things: Left hand voicings - you're hardly yousing your lefty at all. And then you need to avoid playing that E on the F7 chord - you should be playing Eb instead. Keep up the good work!

  • wait i think you need a longer screwdriver, that one is a bit short.

  • @mahadevaji

Gotto agree, you don't want to take risks with this baby.

  • STANKY!

  • How do you do to tune it? I would love to know, to tune my mark II

  • @112358miau On each tine is a small tuning spring. The nearer the spring is to the pickup the flatter the note becomes consequently the further away from the pickup the sharper it will be. You can use a chromatic guitar tuner to tune it.

  • Thanks. I'm trying to restore my mark II, it's an awesome instrument

  • Get the mug off the Piano Ass!

  • Gah! That scared me too!

  • @camillespeijers hahahahahahhahaahaha !

  • what, the mug that is empty? tit

  • @camillespeijers mug (filled with coffee) belongs on the piano! you know nothing bout music ;)

  • David Ell just worked on my Rhodes. I'm driving out to remote Richland, Washington to pick it up in a couple of days. Can't wait!

  • I just got a rhodes, but it needs a tune-up. Does anyone know of a resource I can turn to for pointers on how to fix one of these. Its nothing major, I just need to fix two or three notes.

  • You got that Yellowjacket sound!

  • yeah funk-kay!!

  • Look close - A dude is pasted out on your bed.

  • ? No there isnt.. it doesnt look like it. it just looks like a pillow

  • Too bad the sound quality is so ugly.

  • i live in eaurope are there any of these diamond things available or not?

  • nice job, you sure do got some funky licks

    :P

  • Great stuff, i havent seen anyone play a keyboard with a screw driver since Keith Emerson !!! :)

  • actually, he plays with knives

  • How long does it take to learn how to play piano or fender rhodes? I have a new obession! I want one!!

  • i think piano and fender rhodes are very similar to play. But On a Piano you can play everything from rock to classic, and on a Fender Rhodes jazz/blues sounds best. And when you want to play like this dude hmmm it would take a few years, but i think its very important if you're talented enough and if you have the finger skills to play like this. At last there is one thing you have to think about.... you can't only play the music you have to FEEL it and then groove on =P

  • Damn Thats so FunkY!

  • whats a good site to go to find a working rhodes. the motif is cool, but it ain't nuttin like the real thing!!

  • excellent playing - shame about the audio quality

  • akai and rhodies nice :)

  • sick playing I play guitar but just picked up a great mark 1 from 79 it's great.. love it

  • Awesome!!!!

  • I would love to have one of those. What do they cost nowadays in US??? new

  • i don't think you can find one new but i just checked and they're like 500 or so.

  • ok...how can i learn to play like this and if you say "practice so help me god i will cut you

  • besides practice.... listen to funky music, anything that challanges your ear

  • I just got a Mint Condition Fender Rhodes 73MKII for $75 & I love It

  • Holy crap!! only $75 do you realize how lucky you are? LOL

  • I Know LOL.

  • FOR $75??!!! Where did you get that from??

  • I got it from Somebody who walked in my piano shop and really needed the money so i gave him the $75 and took my Fender Rhodes and told him thank you kindly. LOL I LOVE MY FENDER RHODES

  • Only a fool would part with a Rhodes for $75

  • He Was A Big Fool LOLOLOLOL

  • buy A mixer with usb out.. like alesis with ipod docking is the best just got me one.. so I can play my stuff and get it on the road right there.. these mixers work like a board.. and work on mac/pcs.. great sound dude.

  • how did you amp it?

  • I just run it straight into a Peavey KB100 Keyboard amp? When recording- the sound just goes straight into the crappy mic on the video camera- I should look at getting a proper line in to the laptop really!?

  • You should :)

  • Is that what you do? If so what hardware/ software to you use? Are you in the UK?

  • Going straight into your pc/mac is what most Rhodes-YouTubers do. You better contact 'volvoxburger' he is more experienced with recording.
