Well, I've bought a new Rhodes Mark and I'm VERY DESAPPOINTED !!!!!! My dream became a Nightmare ! Over n° 51 B note, sound is perfect : i can feel the hammer and notes get "Brillance" exellent metallic sound. But under n° 51 B note, sound is not good AT ALL; exactly like simple synthetiser. VERY DESAPPOINTED! A SHAME !!! " Yours sounds better !
If you want to record the Rhodes without any effect pedals, you can unplug the RCA jack under the lid, (rear left as you are facing the Rhodes), and take a signal off the RCA jack direct without getting any "coloring from the "Bass boost" & "volume" knobs, (which I believe are the same electronics on a Fender P-Bass).
FUnky man! And to the left had voicings guy elektromin - whatever lol You don't have to be a piano guru to be funky - as a matter of fact it helps with the creative mistakes the less technical you are. Be original not a copy.
Nice rhodes sound and good funky feeling! But you need to practice a few things: Left hand voicings - you're hardly yousing your lefty at all. And then you need to avoid playing that E on the F7 chord - you should be playing Eb instead. Keep up the good work!
@112358miau On each tine is a small tuning spring. The nearer the spring is to the pickup the flatter the note becomes consequently the further away from the pickup the sharper it will be. You can use a chromatic guitar tuner to tune it.
I just got a rhodes, but it needs a tune-up. Does anyone know of a resource I can turn to for pointers on how to fix one of these. Its nothing major, I just need to fix two or three notes.
i think piano and fender rhodes are very similar to play. But On a Piano you can play everything from rock to classic, and on a Fender Rhodes jazz/blues sounds best. And when you want to play like this dude hmmm it would take a few years, but i think its very important if you're talented enough and if you have the finger skills to play like this. At last there is one thing you have to think about.... you can't only play the music you have to FEEL it and then groove on =P
I got it from Somebody who walked in my piano shop and really needed the money so i gave him the $75 and took my Fender Rhodes and told him thank you kindly. LOL I LOVE MY FENDER RHODES
buy A mixer with usb out.. like alesis with ipod docking is the best just got me one.. so I can play my stuff and get it on the road right there.. these mixers work like a board.. and work on mac/pcs.. great sound dude.
I just run it straight into a Peavey KB100 Keyboard amp? When recording- the sound just goes straight into the crappy mic on the video camera- I should look at getting a proper line in to the laptop really!?

It was done by a good tech, why are you recording it in such a bad way?
TheSongsparrow 1 year ago
You dont want to record it like that. You are masking the tone. Start over!!!
TheSongsparrow 1 year ago
what are the play squares on top of the tonebars in the higher register in the first 30 seconds of the vid?
HammondB200 1 year ago
@HammondB200 They are tonebar clips, they add sustain to the higher notes on the piano.

I'm confused. You tuned a piano but it sounds like a synth.

how did you amp it?
HammondB200 4 years ago
I just run it straight into a Peavey KB100 Keyboard amp? When recording- the sound just goes straight into the crappy mic on the video camera- I should look at getting a proper line in to the laptop really!?
garethashman 4 years ago
You should :)
HammondB200 3 years ago
Is that what you do? If so what hardware/ software to you use? Are you in the UK?
garethashman 3 years ago
Going straight into your pc/mac is what most Rhodes-YouTubers do. You better contact 'volvoxburger' he is more experienced with recording.
