there is a local singer that has done this song and my mom bought the cd he had including this amazing song aswell as others to do with the military. this music is beautiful sounds amazing whether male or female singing it gives me goosebump when i hear it and sometimes tears (the money for the CD went to a charity called Help For Heroes for military veterans and serving members and having a brother and father who were in the military it helped thanks to everyone in the armed forces
This reminds me of a quote given from Saving Private Ryan. "James... earn this, earn it." I may not be a soldier, but hearing those words makes me try to live my life for the best that I can, because I know that others are laying their lives down just so that I may have an opportunity to live a life of freedom and make a nicer living for myself than people living lives of oppression in other countries. Earn the right to live an American citizen ladies and gentlemen. Live your life to the fullest
Many men are remembered for this many men were remember before this all I know it only takes 1 man to start a war and Leave no man behind to die if you cant get out of there die with honor and bravery and freedom becuase you will never be forgoten fellow soldiers...
@MrRemyEtienneLeBeau INDEED! This IS a requiem to Major Winters and ALL the others that fought, died or survived for freedom. I do so long to see the day 'when the world is free'.
Thank you SO MUCH for posting this, BRAVO!! I cried thru the series when it aired.
My late father served as an MP in Los Alamos in 1944-45. Another friend's dad survived D-Day. My best friend's mom, when a very young German Jew was smuggled out of Berlin by neighbors and lost her family to Hitler.
i'm from the netherlands, and everytime i'm in the hills of Arnhem (market garden) i have to think about all the soldiers who died there... its awesome the netherlands has a day of memorial (to remember and honor the dead of WW2) and a day of liberation (to celebrate the freedom we got at VE-day, a few days before VE-day, holland got liberated by mostly canadian troups) ... i remember those days every year, cause freedom is something really special, that should be valued!
This video sent chills down my spine. Don't forget also that this is an international story. A vet from my country, New Zealand had some great tales of serving with U.S. British and Australian soldiers in the Italy campain, although the war had a bad effect on him personally.
@MrJohn2010 He passed away about 4 years ago. He became a pacifist after the war, couldn't even kill the sheep on his small farm, had to ask a neighbour to do it.
@texasmavs1985 Interesting. Well I'm glad for you and your family that he survived. Tell him I thank him for his service. I'm soon to join the Army in three years after I graduate high school. I can't wait!
You don't have to be in the Military to respect and honor those who have fallen for this nation.I'd like to thank the men and women and their families who have sacrificed everything for us to be living freely today.Thank you for fighting for us to be free and live our lives the way we do.
The first time you hear it you can't understand if it's English. But then you actually hear the words the rest of the time... Song always makes my eyes tear up. ],:
my grandpa never lived to see this show. but if he did. he would have said to me. "this is how it happened." but he told me that he had to shoot children towards the end of the war. he said that he did it so i can have the life i have now. R.I.P all of those who died in or survived the horror that this war brought. :(
If there's one thing I shall remember from the 20th century, it'll be those men who fought and sacrificed their lives in the WWII to make it able for the future generations to live in peace. And I really hope their efforts back then won't be in vain in the future as well. They deserve better than that.
This song and video gives me chills. It's very moving. Thank you my brothers and sisters for serving and giving your life to protect the worlds greatest country. Hoorah.
@BOYbelt More give a damm than you think ..we have hundreds of thousands fighting terrorists today that care and prove it by risking their lives daily....they exist because of the example the "Greatest Generation" helped establish..don't let the corrupt liberal Tories we call a media ( aka Democrats) nowadays mislead you...many like them in 1776 thought Washington & his handful of american soldiers freezing at Valley Forge were foolish...they were wrong then and they are wrong now.
its not what you fight for its what you fight against. yes those men fought for each other but they fought against a menace they fought against world domination they fought against racism and cruelty in the end they fought for what they believed was right but they fought against everything that was wrong
The waffen SS, Easy or SAS... anyone of todays soldiers can call themselves "the elite"
those guys walked to hell, fought in hell and finally left hell for ever
as a danish SS man once said " jeg ved jeg kommer i himlen for jeg har været i helvede" - "i know im going into heaven cus' i have already been in hell"

I don't think of this as a mini-series, I think of it as the best movie ever that was split into loads of different parts because it kicked so much ass!

He did kill the young soldier, but in effect it was not protrayed as it occured in reality.
I felt awful when Winter's did that run ahead of the squad up onto the small ridge and killed the young German soldier, a kid drafted into the army who probably didn't even truly realise what he was fighting for.
I thought Winter's may have let him run & concentrate his fire on the German Company instead, he didn't of course, he shot the kid dead; That's the first time I realised, although Winter's had a lot of morals about him, he was a soldier first & foremost trained to kill, fighting a war.
I have to lose a day whenever I see BoB is on. What hits me most are the vignettes of the real men. It reminds me that when we see old farts acting corny really dramatic at veteran's events, we forget - they were young once, full of piss & vinegar as they would say, real fighting SOB's. And they risked it all - and many sons, brothers and dads never made it home.
Back then was real war. Now its all cowards tactics and guns that could shred a couple men in one clip is the average foot soldiers weapon. Its like today we have lost 4 soldiers tday BIG WHOOP! on one day we lost over 100,000 men.
@10012jman The casualty rates weren't that bad during WWII. Not even that bad in Vietnam. And it's not a Big Whoops for every soldier lost. They died for the same thing the people of WWI, WWII, Korea, and Vietnam died for.
@10012jman Really, what war was that? The bloodiest one day battle in American history was Antietam with 23,000 lost. No one that was there is alive today.
@10012jman So you would rather have wars fought like before? Why not do what we can to keep our people alive by giving them the best that we can supply them with? Did you know those 4 soldiers that died? No probably not. So you probably dont care. But others did.
@Scarryotter I would have too..... and I just turned 14. I would have served with any soldier, Air Force, Navy, Army, I don't care. They were and are all brave men and women.
@murooz Same here man. Left me reflecting for a long time. Someone else wrote they wish they could do something back to thank those who fought for us. I came to the conclusion that we just have to live our lives as good people and appreciate everything that we take for granted.
all i have to say is this: The american soldiers who fought and gave their lives to save us are the bravest men in the world, however, the war started in 1939. America joined in 1942. YOU WERE LATE. Even though you were late, you still helped and i am very greatful for that
I don't think that we will ever have peace. There will always be someone that wants more than they have and who is willing to do anything to get it. *sad smile*
@warstickMOVIES its an anti war comment lol but i believed in world war 2 but i love the series and it was a comment on the other people making comments about war for piece
this was so beautiful. man as i am there are only 5 things in this world that have brought me to tears... band of brothers, the pacific, saving private ryan, letters from iwo jima, flags of our fathers, and black hawk down...
I would like to ask everyone to stop bickering about the "what if" and "if this" and accept that our brothers, be it American, English, Canadian, EVERY ALLY...all of them sacrificed everything to give us the world we have today. It may have its problems, however WE ALL are free. If you have the pro Nazi side of the argument then go ahead...state your case. We all did our part, and we should all embrace what tributes like this really mean.
I really love the song and the whole band of brothers. What song do the german citizens play in the ending of the story? (Nixon says it's Beethoven's)
When you think hard what those men saw... you'd never see that in 100 lifetimes, let alone in one year. Can anyone really truly imagine what it must have been like, to go through that, and then just jump back into civvie street? It hardly bears thinking about. Incredible men... thanks for the upload.
Check out Brotherhood of Leet at my youtube channel - a re-imagining of WW2 dramas like Band of Brothers as if they were set during the 8 bit wars of the 1980s where Nintendo and Sega are waring nations.
With a clear enemy, and a sound cause, I would've served in a instant.
Thank you to those who shared this burden. I shall be ever thankful for your sacrifice. This song makes me cry every time I hear it, I will remember you always.
the nazies we're only following orders, they we're not evil they were scared like us, but There is no such thing as batman or Superman, but there are heroes that parents raised... men and women no superpowers.... the people that would put their life on the line for us, for their country.. They made the ultimate sacrifice. and we are all greatfull for it..... R.I.P
@Solarian2495 shut up man!just 3 or 4 people wanted the war!or dou you think that the soldiers like to kill other people???you can´t tell me something!i heard storys from my grandfather i was shocked! so just shut up when you have no clear mind!
@DerPimmler I to have heard the stories, and I am saying that not all germans were nazis. The nazis were an evil, anti-sematic group that should have been stopped sooner, but I salut all of the German soldiers who fought for their fatherland. For example, Erwin Rommel is a hero of mine.

headleesyeti 1 year ago
@10012jman Really, what war was that? The bloodiest one day battle in American history was Antietam with 23,000 lost. No one that was there is alive today.
Vostokification 1 year ago
@10012jman So you would rather have wars fought like before? Why not do what we can to keep our people alive by giving them the best that we can supply them with? Did you know those 4 soldiers that died? No probably not. So you probably dont care. But others did.
Prick.

Total respect from me and Scotland.

@murooz Same here man. Left me reflecting for a long time. Someone else wrote they wish they could do something back to thank those who fought for us. I came to the conclusion that we just have to live our lives as good people and appreciate everything that we take for granted.
R.I.P Major Winters and thanks.

all i have to say is this: The american soldiers who fought and gave their lives to save us are the bravest men in the world, however, the war started in 1939. America joined in 1942. YOU WERE LATE. Even though you were late, you still helped and i am very greatful for that

I don't think that we will ever have peace. There will always be someone that wants more than they have and who is willing to do anything to get it. *sad smile*

To save your world you asked this man to die:
Would this man, could he see you now, ask why?

When you think hard what those men saw... you'd never see that in 100 lifetimes, let alone in one year. Can anyone really truly imagine what it must have been like, to go through that, and then just jump back into civvie street? It hardly bears thinking about. Incredible men... thanks for the upload.

Check out Brotherhood of Leet at my youtube channel - a re-imagining of WW2 dramas like Band of Brothers as if they were set during the 8 bit wars of the 1980s where Nintendo and Sega are waring nations.

the nazies we're only following orders, they we're not evil they were scared like us, but There is no such thing as batman or Superman, but there are heroes that parents raised... men and women no superpowers.... the people that would put their life on the line for us, for their country.. They made the ultimate sacrifice. and we are all greatfull for it..... R.I.P

@elboslayer Yes, but the NAZIS wanted the war, it was the other members of the German military, the non-nazis, that I respect.

DerPimmler 1 year ago
@DerPimmler I to have heard the stories, and I am saying that not all germans were nazis. The nazis were an evil, anti-sematic group that should have been stopped sooner, but I salut all of the German soldiers who fought for their fatherland. For example, Erwin Rommel is a hero of mine.
