Exactly same thing here. I am alot like a woman in a jewels shop, when it comes to engineering a female protagonist in just about every game, where you can do so. Took me around four hours to make my Shepard. Usually I ended up going through all the first cinematics and the whole Lazarus station, assuming afterwards, that this Shepard is not worthy enough and started a new game from scratch.
i mean it's a little annoying that bioware also created dragon age and dragon age 2, in which you can create a GORGEOUS female protagonist. with mass effect and mass effect 2, it's damn near impossible to make an ATTRACTIVE one!
@keatyton it's the hair styles that's the problem since commander shepherd can't let her down below her shoulders or at least touch them because it's not allowed in the military at all unless you're off duty and not wearing the uniforms at all.
@SonofPencilHead well then they are going have to learn not to with default shepherd but like i said commander shepherd was a military officer so she had to follow regulations in the other games but since in the next game she is being trailed so she is discharged from being an officer so she is technically a miltila officer and don't have follow most of the military regulations but just try to defend earth.
@keatyton that's not very true. Go to ME faces or check the FemShep thread in the ME2 board on BSN. You'll see what I mean, lots of gorgeous, unique femsheps. It depends greatly on your perception of beauty, but I've seen a lot of striking FemSheps for their uniqueness and in my humble opinion, beauty. Also, the stories the owners of said FemSheps add to them give context to that avatar in ways that would make you fall in love with them all over again.
@MizzNaaa haha i've done all that, trust me. but yeah, it is a matter of opinion and perception of beauty - i agree 100%. but for me, i think bioware did a much better job with DAO and DA2 with making attractive female characters.
@keatyton A few problems that plague Shepard are 1. Duck lips 2. Lack of hairstyle options, and most of the ones that are there aren't good looking 3. Presets like head shape, eye shape, and lip shape all have only one or maybe two good looking ones and the rest are awful 4. Lack of skin/hair color options, bad color matching between the two also (put the light blonde hair on any Femshep without the skin color as pale as possible, and you will see what I mean by bad color matching)

@NinjaRed5000 You're right about Miranda, but then I don't think what she's wearing is a pressure suit: it's cut too low in the neck. You would need some sort of rigid collar or self-rearranging nanotech-laced fabric -- something which doesn't exist in the world of Mass Effect -- to seal that. She's likely just wearing a suit of low-profile armour.
But N7 armour is a full pressure suit, and sometimes you need to get that sealed NOW! Thus, all the long-haired Sheps wear their hair up.
@MyOwnNameWasTaken i guess, gut have u seen the capacitor helmet? if u look closely there is some kind of hood to hold in the hair. maybe something like this is available within the other helmets. and there are women who role up there hair while putting on a helmet too
Mine is more of a tough looking female Shepard with slightly more defined cheekbones and her hair is in a tight bun. She has light eye shadow, but after a bit I felt like getting rid of it so I kicked myself for not doing that in the beginning of ME2.
Hottest Shepard I have ever seen in game. Then again I suck at making people in games. Lol But I love this Shepard. Wish I could have a Shepard like this in Mass Effect one too.
Anyone wonder why they don't give femSheps long hair options? This is pretty much the longest hair they have and I wanted it longer for one of my characters. :-\
@uhLyssa15 theres a little bar on the character creation screen at the bottom there you can enter the code only problem is sometimes the codes dont transfer well to different platforms such as a character made on XBox 360 might not look good on ps3 and vise versa

giving FemShep Ashleys face texture is the best thing to do. the normal skin in ME2 sucks.
only official Sheploo doesn´t have to care, because he was designed....
we will see what ME3 will give us....
