One of the reason for jobless numbers are high worker costs such as health care. If employers can provide cheaper health care then what wrong with that?And then people who lost their job are covered until they get a knew job. You can give people that don't use it tax incentives. You can grant healthcare too everybody by making insurance obligated, regulating the insurancemarkets and subsidizing it in a modest way. The current U.S. system sucks, but that's not a reason to change the whole foundation radically. Clinton's idea (regulated free market insurances) was a better idea. I don't think obama has done enough research on countries that actually have a tradition in this socialized healthcare. He should come to Europe and get sick;)

There is no provision to kill old people. What the bill says is that the Government will pay the doctors bill if old people want to discuss their living will. That old person might decide they want to be on life support for 100 years.

I think it's a combination of both. When you go to a town hall meeting it's the same rhetoric. Everyone says the same things and it's often absurd. I think people like Glenn Beck and Rush Limbaugh play a huge role in getting people scared by spreading lies which leads these paranoid people to act out against their elected officials. It's really sad. The most recent meeting I went to, this man got up and started yelling and the congressman put him in his place which was nice to see.

Many beleive the quality of the doctors is better also, which makes sense, because doctors make alot more money in the US than in Canada.......You don't want to be put on a waiting list for a gall bladder operation if its hurting you now..........

Which will also be payed for by big insurance companies who would have been able to hire someone who has been looking for work (that person who cant afford insurance). If employers can provide cheaper health care then what wrong with that?And then people who lost their job are covered until they get a knew job. You can give people that don't use it tax incentives. The problem is we will pay ending up paying for health care in some way. The only choice right now is will you benefit from paying for it?

I liked John Kings Questions a lot. Seemed very fair and intelligent. Now I have looked as I am in Illionis and see Dick has no town hall meetings of any sort. Real nice. I agree with Dick Durbin 100% There is nothing wrong with debating the issues but when nobody can even ask a question much less get an answer then I do not see how anything productive is happening. It's nothing but a bunch of nonsense to try and prevent people from getting information and that in my opinion is a pretty crappy thing to do considering all of the rumors that are being tossed around.

Nobody asks for a status quo, something has to be done. But implementing a system of single-payer public option will simply destroy the entire healthcaresystem. The insurancemarket needs to be regulated, but for the love of God, don't let some bureaucrats control healthcare.

Public schools compete with private schools.
Public police departments compete with private rent-a-cops.
The VA is a public health care system, so is Medicare. All of those people have a public option.

The public post office services SUCK. Look, I live in EUrope at this moment and I can assure you that a likewise healthcare-system is not what you want. I'm not a rich man and I care about poverty. But seriously, overhauling healthcare to the government really isn't gonna solve the problem. Some people will have a more difficult acces to healtcare (like the elderly). And innovation will be stopped and no new techniques or medicines will be made.

Look, if I have a toothache and I want to see a dentist I have to wait a week if I'm very lucky. If you get cancer you better go to the U.S. to get the operation, since it doesn't exist over here. And I live in one of the wealthiest european countries, France or Brittain are far more worse. I saw Moore's "sicko" and I can tell you it was all bullshit. The french couple he interviewed earned 7000 euros per month. The average payment in France is around 1000 euros per month.

You can grant healthcare too everybody by making insurance obligated, regulating the insurancemarkets and subsidizing it in a modest way. The current U.S. system sucks, but that's not a reason to change the whole foundation radically. Clinton's idea (regulated free market insurances) was a better idea. I don't think obama has done enough research on countries that actually have a tradition in this socialized healthcare. He should come to Europe and get sick;)

No, in such cases one must review constitunional law so it won't happen again. Healthcare can't stay the way it is, but a government take-over will only make things worse. I had a great career for OVER A DECADE, until Bush fucked me over and the whole company nearly went down..... even with a job and "good" insurance it sill was not AFFORDABLE. Had to move to a smaller town, no jobs... start my own business, make too much for MediCaid not enough to afford private insurance.... I just have a strong feeling that you're a piece of shit person and nothing I say will matter... you must enjoy the suffering of others quite a bit.

There is no provision to kill old people. What the bill says is that the Government will pay the doctors bill if old people want to discuss their living will. That old person might decide they want to be on life support for 100 years.
How could anyone think that it's bad to allow old people to discuss something so important with their doctor?
