Had every album on vinyl and would listen to them over and over in my teens. Miss S.A., his well ran deep and their songs still impact me they way they did all those years ago.
Such a great band. They were so good at creating a mood in their songs. Whether it was joy or sadness, they really made you feel it. Their music reminds me of the only girl I ever loved. We listened to them together in my car on the cassette deck for hours on end. Anybody know where I can buy a time machine?
This song especially is a true driving to Paradise - like . . whatever u would imagine by the sounds, it is truely magic, and . . comes true in whatever positive ways . . just close ur eyes . . dream . . listen . . open . . enjoy & share . . it is Unique & forever 4 U . . . Make it happen
What is most amazing to me is that on a site like Youtube with trolls, lurking at every turn. You don't see a negative post here.
The reason is this. Groups like Big Country touched deep into people's minds & hearts. All done without the glitz & marketing of the media.
They were never any band that trend-jumpers looked to leech onto.
They were never "underground." so those who like the "cool" bands never adopted them. They did what musicians were supposed to do. Now look how beloved they are.
@TigerLikesTail . . After reading your post you made a month ago, I noticed another thing . . No arguments or slagings off break out on the posts in Big country uploads, . . . . Hmmmm
BC is so much more than just a band, these guys are musical sages, and conscientious objectors. I say that, because I think that they would object to swill that is passed off as music these days? BC write good music with epic lyrics...there will never be another Big Country.
I wouldn't put to many groups in the column marked 'inspirational', but Big country is at the top of the list!
Who would have thought God can speak through rock stars the way he did through prophets? The poignant words to this song are up among the words in the Holy Scriptures. They guide, shine, inform, soothe and save.
@MrBreakeven , You're absolutley right, spot on. Tony's backing vocals with Stuart in this song are just awsome, "i only see those sad grey eye's" spine chilling.
You rock too, Twonkyman! When I (quietly) sing to Big Country songs, I find myself always singing Tony's awesome backup parts. He added sparkle to Stu's words and singing.
Great band. Great photo. All with hands in pocket. Protest singers. Good men. One of my top five favorite bands. Rest in peace SA. Another Hawaiian ghost.
Great to see Big Country's music is still appreciated. I have over 200 Big Country videos on my Youtube page which I consider a shrine to the greatest rock band ever!
imso glad to know im not alone in loving this music ive actually loved them since i was about 6 yrs old! but am so saddened now to know that i will never get to hear them in a gig which i would have loved to have done. thankyou for the amazing music stuart. maybe in the next life big chap xx rip
Thanx for putting this on! I wouldn't have thought anyone would bother, as it wasn't one of the "anthemic" songs they were known for. I own a vinyl copy of Steeltown from back in the day and I was listening to this just yesterday. Beautiful stuff.
Im probably speeking for a lot of Big Country fans, if you could have only seen them live! they were fantastic! one of those bands that are better live! still didnt stop me and Amanda jumping up and down on the furniture! but if you ever got to go to a live concert, you'll kdnow what im talking about! i dedicate this to Darren!
As always, thanks for the video, stayalive378. You must be quite a fan.
I almost named my daughter after the Josephine in this song. I was sure she'd have grey eyes. As it turns out, they are grey- blue and her red hair was the deciding factor in her very irish name, Kiernan.
this is alarm good or the fixx ...amazing. tears for fears were almost this good. the waterboys for sure
