I have a question. What is the white cord that is attached to the screen called? Because mine is all twisted up and it starts to smoke. Can that be fixed?
@TheguywholikesRPGS antistatic wristbands are for noobs, I moonwalk in my socks with a sweater and sweater vest over said sweater while I handle all of my important components.
This video is only good for disassembly of a broken laptop. For one, you would NOT treat the screen the way he does by how he handles it, and two, he needs to account for EVERY screw by marking where they go. And three, where is his anti-static wristband?!
@dragnridr05 I agree with 1 and 2, but do you really need an anti-static wristband? I was always taught that you just need to ground yourself ideally every 10 minuets while working on a laptop.
@mikaila31 An Anti-static wristband is needed due to the fact that the clothes you wear can produce static discharge within milliseconds. The wristband prevents unwanted static discharges from occurring.
Not meaning this in offensive way but you clearly have no idea what your talking about.
There was nothing wrong with the way he treated the screen.
In general there are only 3 maybe 4 different screw sizes in a laptop and the sizes either are marked or the screws have different thread sizes, they may have letters corresponding to the size of screws like Toshiba.
and as for the anti static wrist band.. I Never use one. And I have never had a problem.
@rossiboysound Actually, I do know what I'm talking about. I build and sell desktops and laptops for people, and for one, anti-static wristband PREVENTS unwanted static discharge, and two unless the screen is CAREFULLY handled, there could end up being alot of unwanted/unneeded scratches. He was handling the laptop like it was already broken. And not all laptops or desktops label what screws go where, which is why you should always label them.
@dragnridr05 you build desktops and laptops for people.
I have dismantled and repaired thousands of laptops and never where an antistatic wristband, I have never had any problems with killing a motherboard and even when working on a motherboard itself still haven't had a problem.
as for experience I am a laptop and computer technician /engineer , and in my personal office have well above 1500 laptops waiting to be sorted.plus I also deal with a lot of desktops and servers and the same with those
Oh my god what is up with screen nothing under neat , that is the reason why i hate persons who fix computers , i always trying to save my laptop form any kind of damage , and when i give it to someone , well done all my hard saving work is just gone for ever in 3 days of service ... byt he way nice video , i have learned to do everyhting for mine as possible after 4 months of PC use ... :D
@tamaskrisztian Grammar isn't your forte' I see. In between all your gibberish I was able to decipher that you "hate" people who work on computers. Well, I can tell you from the service end I HATE when noobies try to fix their computers and then bring it to me to fix it after they have performed "repairs" on it. They have the nerve to tell me what to do to fix it lol You are all idiots and you need to stay away from PCs, (especially laptops!) because you have no experience to fix your mistakes
@azrock4ever grammar , well it might not be the one i supposed to held up to , even when i do my best will end up fine ... about noobies you , described i was able to fix mine after using till , now pc not more than 2 years and i all ready fixed my total down laptop , my comment was based on , the ect that i do not like to give out my laptop to someone who cares about less , than i do about my own ... i did , not made any misstake over mine how , ever ... back to gammar , learn protocol as well!
@tamaskrisztian Wow... even more crap spewing from your fingertips. Seriously, you can't write anything that makes sense. Atrocious.... simply atrocious.
@azrock4ever i can shit down but you can shit up that is your issue if you don`t understand something i have typed or as you were saying spewing from my fingertips :DDD hahaha lord in heaven ... any way fuck up man not off / up ... cheer`s
@tamaskrisztian Just give it up man. Seriously. You type like a 3rd grader. In fact, not even at that level. There isn't any comeback you can type that has any teeth to it.
@azrock4ever aha see some one else means loook into the mirror my dude and see what you see ... you said i was talking about bullshit 3rd grade and stuff like that ... etc. And top of that look what you were respond it to ... i mean what did i wrote and where was our conversation went so far ... ??? :D sure be polite ...
@azrock4ever i know don`t worry it`s never too late to start among grammar , to learn else takes years but you`ll learn ... cheer `s ... just kidding man don`t take it personally ... bye
Hi, if you wish to disassemble your laptop, and you are a novice, I dont recommend doing it the way he is. First of all, right of the bat, he does a few sloppy things. He unscrews the screw and then lets it drop in his table. Secondly I noticed he opened the screen wide at 180 degrees and let the LCD rest on the table top. Bad idea. The screws strewn on the table could tear the screen. He should account for every screw, and group the sizes and pen mark the holes to match the with their screws.
I don't know whether to digg you up or down. On one hand you are correct, on the other hand it doesn't mean you can't learn from the video by watching him.
@FiveIronFrenzyFK I am simply stating the obvious. if you wish to learn, then learn from someone who instructs properly. I am a computer professional. I see a lot of imperfections with his methodology. There a lot of other good videos around. You have little margin for error when you fix a Gateway laptop. And the parts are not easy to find. They are low cost laptops designed for low-end market. Their parts are comparably cheap and of low quality to other makers. Good luck.
Altogether, a tech noob.
