Works even better with a coating of paste flux first, helps liquify the solder, especially the old 60/40 stuff. Keep an old plate or ashtray or such to the side of the iron to blow the solder out of the iron. Be wary of spatter when you do blow it clear, it freaking hurts on bare skin.
If I were you I would sue the school that you were attending. The parts fall into place and should come back out the same way. By having to pry in any way that can cause damage or fractures to the components. How about you remove the video and re-post one as soon as you can do it in a way thats not displaying for people to try to follow and destroy valuable and expencive parts.
You were making a video to show a tool. But you also stated that its ok if you have to pry it off.
@unrewritable Get a heat gun and some aluminum foil to get the GPU out of the 360's mother board. By removing the GPU out of it you will need to reball the GPU for installation and thats a bit of a trick without the proper stuff to do it with.
@DarkPlagueStudios Radioshack won't ship out of the US, and The Source doesn't have them. I really wish to put my hands on one of these but couldn't find one anywhere here in Canada. :/ Any idea?
if you must force the IC to take it off, then desolder pump didnt make a 100% good job, but any way, looks way better than the crappy desoldering pump, wich never work well for me.
never trayed braid but dont looks good for holes,
This looks the best cheap solution,
wish i had money to get a professional one with constant vacum
I think you're using it wrong... You're pulling it away before it can suck it away.

The Radio Shack one I bought in 1985 still works perfect to this day and I use it a lot for service work. Had to replace tips maybe twice.
