wow, totaly out of tune, and women's tone color needs to change dramatically. And i agree with everyone else that there is no dynamic contrast and its it just kind of marched along as my choir director would say. Good attempt, but needs some major work.
... this was really terrible. you completely disregarded the dynamics, half the song is supposed to be piano or pianissimo!! and the diction was quite horrible. :(
wonderful peace i love it. u might want to work on your dynamics. the beginning of the piece is suppose to be piano. from the very beginning the song was belted. i just think if u look at the meaning of the song u will understand y eric whitacre made it piano and gradually builds up to forte on the "angelie" but the performance was good!
my bad i'm an idiot. I meant 1:04 and its not f minor. it actually drops from C sharp minor to C minor. This is a fairly common place in this piece for this to occur. (the "Gra-Vis-Que" section).
having sung this song a few years back, you need the a whole lot of people in the group that have very good pitch. With all the dissonance it is very easy to drop 2-3 whole steps in a matter of a minute or two of singing. In this choir's case, the sopranos missed their pitches in the beginning which sent the whole thing in the downward pitch spiral.
Their conductor is terrible, she's so snappy. This song is supposed to be super legato. And where they were looks like it would have good acoustics, but I guess acoustics can only cover so much.
the pitch issue may have been due to a number reasons. i really start to hear it in 1:19 from the sopranos. also, the hall they were singing in may have not been the best hall for lux aurumque. it could aslo be vowels as well as the consonants...it seemed as if the women's vowels did not always agree with the men's (vise versa). however, the sound is good. but i totally understand the pitch problems. the group i sing in has the same problem. but there's always a better next time :]
I have to say, I not only agree with the comments below me but I must say - shame on the director of this choir! It doesn't take professional musicians to match pitch, or annunciate proper diction. Not enough consonants in the diction...pitches were all over the place, and it sounded like the whole ensemble went flat.
Eek, the pronunciation sounds terrible, and your first sopranos are flat. The singing could be a little more quiet, too, or perhaps that's the quality of the video.

You ought to hear the actual worst on YouTube. I forget the name of the group--it starts with an F. Now *they* are way worse.

i think they might have been flat, or the sound was weird, because some of the notes sound like the original
