This beat is freakin' sick! But it's not rap. It's too dark to be rap. If you replace the pumping bassline with a guitar, you'll have gothic/industrial rock/metal, but not rap. Sick beat, though.
@Jack0Milde hey man thanks a lot for the comment. Personally I'm not too big on rules for genres, everything changes, what's true today is something different tomorrow..and I'm trying to look ahead. I think rap has been a bit stagnant for a while now so sticking to the same formula would produce boring results. Having said that, as far as this particular track I may end up making it just an instrumental with more things going on
@SpiceyGrooves Ah, that's an interesting way to look at it. I agree (which is probably why I don't listen to rap anymore). That seems like a good idea, as lyrics seem to be added to everything nowadays, and the focus doesn't seem to be on the music itself anymore.
