Last year I was very successful with buzzers however this year I haven't had one fish on them. Can you tel me how you would fish them, the retrieve etc and how you know what buzzer to select?
If you fish them sometime in a day I'm sure the fish would be feeding on them in some form, the size and colour will come down to the hatch but I would most times fish a black version, other colours like olive and brown are very good, Materials I like are pheasant tail, peacock quill, turkey biot, hare's fur and finally just thread..
I have sent you a link to the bug-bond and as well the torches which are available to cure the resin, the one that I would recommend would be the pro version it works a lot better than the cheapest one..
Herring aka Tommy rough (arripus georgianus), Southern sea gar fish (hyporhamphus melanochir) mainly but on a larger hook like a Gamakatsu saltwater fly ss15/t and with dumb bell eyes flat head ( Platycephalus indicus).
Do you have any recommandations for mullet (Mugil cephalus)?
Thanks for the info, and well done...I'm sorry but I don't tye a great deal of saltwater flies or fish in the sea as we are a bit colder here and not as many species to fish for like you have...
For some time I look at your videos and am fascinated by your wonderful Buzzers. The Buzzers are the most beautiful I have ever seen! I'm from Switzerland and you are for me the best buzzer maker of all time. I looking forward to see more videos of you. In this video you show a box with yet another Buzzers. You have more Buzzer Videos? Thank you for your great videos. Sorry for my bad English but I hope you have understood everything.
I'm happy that you really like the buzzer patterns, which I have tyed hundreds over the years in all sizes and colours not all work but they can be deadly when the fish are feeding on them..My best pattern is a simple pheasant tail tyed with copper wire which I have on here, the best colour is black by far, next would be natural, olive and dark green but I do have many other colours all worth trying..
I am struggleing to get hold of decent plastic tubeing for Sunnray's. Wher did you get the tubeing you used in the Bunny leech video? Any info would be kindly recieved.
First class as usual Davie, I took a 5lb rainbow on an olive (shop bought) just yesterday, would be much more satisfying catching on one I've tied myself. I'll get a few sorted this week following your instructions! Cheers
Another outstanding pattern Davie, just wondering if you have ever tied a 'Driffield Dun'? I live in Driffield, East Yorkshire and would love to know how to tie it..
Thank you so much for your time, posting these videos and helping us beginners learn how to dress flies..
I haven't tyed a Driffield Dun before, I had a look on the internet and found a few different dressing but if you could find the local pattern then I would see what I could do..I'm glad you liked the buzzer...
A static buzzer will catch you a fish but to be honest I prefer to have mine on the move, not that I would be fishing them fast but with small twitches and flicks of the rod tip and with pauses inbetween but as well I keep in contact with the line with a slow figure of eight, all this done with casting mostly into the wind so that the fly drifts naturally towards me and to the bank where you're more likely to find the fish feeding so my buzzer never stops moving.
@DavieMcPhail Thanks for the tip , i usually fsh on the oats with the drogue and that, i'll try castng into the wind and do some of the other tips ye gave me
Hi Dave at 51 years young I am new to fly fishing and tying I should have made the leap years ago. I have learned so much from your videos and thank you very much for them. I was wondering if you could talk a little about the tools you use especially vises And what kind of wax thank you again for your videos
It's never to late too start tying your own flies..
Here's a list of the tools I use;
Bobbin Holder, Tiemco Heavy Duty Ceramic
Scissors, Tungsten 4ich fine piont
Whip Finisher, Materielli
Wax, Veniards Prepared FlyTyers Wax
My Vise is a Law but unfortunately is no longer made but if you do go to start your own flies let me know how much you would like to spend and I could give you advice on what one to buy..
