I'll try to answer your question, but in reality, I'm not sure at all. I shoot standard definition and not in HD, so I wouldn't know!
I'm guessing that YouTube is going to go 16:9 by end of 2008. Sorry I can't be of help, you probably know more than I do about this topic.

I can't believe youtube doesn't adjust for 16:9 ratio with their players. With my website I found you can adjust the size of the player, but no matter what you do, it'll keep the 4:3 ratio. Surely they'll at least give us that option; it's not like 16:9 is the new industry standard or anything. lol
