awwwwwwwww your apollo is WAY more patient than my mainecoons were they would tolerate kids for all of a few minutes until it got too rough then theyd get mad :( i miss my babies...
maine coons are honestly such amazing family cats! i love all cats, but maine coons are really remarkable when it comes to children. i think it's because they form stronger bonds with their owners than other breeds (they're so much like dogs!) and so they're more protective of "their" young :)
What a beautiful and patient cat. So loving toward the children. You certainly are blessed. Thank you for teaching the little ones to be gentle so many don't . Such angels you have (both cat and grandbabies)
They are right there making sure the baby is gentle with the cat. The cat would get the heck out of there if it was being hurt. Lighten up people. It is obvious that the cat is as interested in the baby as the baby is of the cat. I had a big main coon and he liked babies too.
@illegalsmirf First of all, she is my granddaughter. Secondly, we are right there teaching her how to treat an animal. If he were being abused, he would bat her or simply run away. Our house is pretty large so he didn't need to stay there with the baby.
Hi, thanks for watching my video. Apollo is especially loving and patient. Riley is now 2 and loves the cats so much! I bought both my cats for a cattery named
Koontahdin Cattery Apollo is in the North Shore litter and his name was Ipswich. I had purchased Jasper from her first, and wanted another one. I went with the intention of buying Beverly, but when I got these Apollo "chose" me. He kept jumping up on my lap, purring, rubbing against me. How could I pass him up?
Can cats sense when they are around infants? I know it's obvious to see but my cat acts really submissive and tolerant around my little nephew. I mean if I tugged at her ears/tail the way he does she'd ravage my hand but she seems to tolerate it despite looking annoyed, heh.
Maine coons love children..My maine coon runs to the window to look at kids playing outside...and when he sneaks outside, he goes to where the kids are playing and walks around them in circles waiting for attention....
Even though they are large, they can jump pretty high. I have a curio cabinet and one of my Maine Coons would jump from the back of the sofa to the top of the cabinet and sit up there. I couldn't believe it because it was still very high! If you train them with a spray bottle with water, you can keep them off almost anything. I don't have claw marks on my furniture, but every cat is different
Thank u for letting others know that it is not okay to declaw a cat. For all the people that are so concerned about cats scratching the couch then they should not bring a cat into their home. We were shopping for a new couch and the sales man had the nerve to ask me if our cats still had claws. Declawing a cat is like the equivalent of ripping our a person's nails and cutting off their thumb. Nature intended for cats to have claws and climb.
I had a Maine coon ragdoll mix once and I remember he would always purr no matter what even if me and my sister threw him in the bathtub he would still smile and purr
Oh my god are all maine coons like that? I think this video made me going to call a maine coon breeder and buy one of those gentle giants myself! How old was Apollo when you got him? How did you teach him to be that patient? :)
my chacha is just as nice but it takes a long time for him to get used to anyone. i think he would be ok with babies though. :-)

Does Apollo have his claws ?
csillag4 1 year ago
Of course!! Declawing a cat is cruel. I just keep them trimmed so he won't scratch the babies.
okathyol 1 year ago 11
Thanks for the reply. Another question (if I may): If a cat has his claws trimmed would he still be able to climb up on furniture cabinets ?

This is one relaxed cat. He does make it clear if he does not like something. Good thing the baby is told time and again not to pull the tail.
