Believe it or not, I used this song to put my son to sleep when he was few months old, I just put his head on my shoulder and pretty much dance slowly, worked everytime, so another good memory associated with Coldplay.

remember being right at the front at this, still hadn't bought X&Y so this was the first time I heard this song. Instantly loved it....had been waiting for Coldplay to write a song like this for years!! :) don't remember the crowd standing that still though :P

@elefantkaputt I personally think Viva la Vida was a very experimental and creative way to go in the area of song writing and song producing. Granted---Rush of Blood is my favorite album by them, but Viva la Vida feels very "outdoorsy"

Its not about the difficulty of the song, its about how all of the basic tunes and melodys flow together with one of the best singing voices ever along with fantastic lyrics to make the great music that Coldplay dose.

I think he gives each song exactly what they need. The song structures don't call for anything of the nature of a Copeland or Peart. An excellent timekeeper is usually what most pop music needs, for a drummer to play outside of that just to make what they play look more difficult can ruin the song. Rush songs have plenty of space for the complicated fills as do Police songs.

Compared to the X&Y version, Chris' vocal on this is weak. He wouldn't make it past the judges on American or English Idol singing like this. But the instrumental performance is killer.
