Jane represented Playtex for years.....as for that "Jane Russell, starlet" photo, she was being modest. That picture was part of the publicity for her first and best known role- as "Rio", in "The Outlaw" (1943). EVERYONE knew about her and her famous cleavage- even before the film was "officially" released [Howard Hughes had problems with the "Hays Office" about her sexuality and some parts of the film, and it wasn't generally released until after World War II].
Even though this had to be at least 30 years after "Gentlemen Prefer Blondes," it's just like watching Dorothy Shaw! That's how good Jane managed to look. RIP, Ms. Russell.
She was one of the locals here, in Santa Maria, CA. GREAT Gal! Very involved with her kids, the family, and mentor to her childern and their spouses - and the personification of a strong charging Lady. She will be sorely missed here. Strong family values there, and then some. Very much an inspiration to many of us. The entire community misses her!!!
Jane was gorgeous. I imagine Raquel will be a total GGILF when she's in her 80's too.
Soo many of those old actresses have aged soo well. Looking at you Sophia.
