I got to meet Tammy Wynette when whe was at my parents place in Wisconsin. There were two shows and inbetween shows, I took her over to my parents home. Where she used the phone and called George. Afterwards she held my two small children on her lap. We got pictures of her with all of us. What an experience! What a beautiful lady....inside and out. She was all ways one of my favorites and I was very lucky to have the experience I did with her.
her voice will never be equaled, i will never understand what happend to her later in life / does anyone know? by far the best female singer that ever lived, and this takes nothing away from patsy cline and connie smith; my other two sweethearts....
All these years I did not know this was a country song, because I was telling my boyfriend saturday that I was not letting him go but I was standing by my man. I always loved the song since I heard it on commercials when I was a little girl.
That guy on the steel guitar looks EXACTLY like young GW. It 's bizarre. Anybody else notice that? This is the very best version of this song. I agree with David. It's so cool. It would be impossible to imitate in any aspect today.
If there was just one song used to define the essence of Country Music, this performance by the beautiful Tammy Wynette singing Stand By Your Man would be the one. It stands up so well even as the years go by. Can't improve on perfection.
I like this video very much because there is a lot of electricity in the air, you can see it and you can hear it. this performance is one of these moments when artists write history.
I love the way she sing's through gritted teeth, really conveying the emotion in each song. You can tell she's really lived the stuff that she's singing about. She has a real stoical beauty.
I am going to tell you all something , and it doesnt matter where we come from.!!! WE serve with N.A.T.O,, We are Canadians , Female Medical !!! But , coming home from Overseas , this song was playing on 1 pod to hear !!! Bravo !!!!
That's the "Jones Boys" backing her up, with Freddie Haws on Electric Guitar, and James Holley on Bass. They were a class act, and so was Tammy Wynette! This is the best video I've ever seen of Tammy!
@Johi2410 Charlie Carter is on electric guitar,Charlie Justice, who normally played fiddle on rhythm guitar,James Holley bass,Sonny Curtis steel, and i think Freddie Haws on drums.
Tammy Wynette is spectacular. i think she's #2 greatest female c+w singer. No-one can touch Patsy Cline. every other song Patsy sang is an american classic. No other artist 'ever' sang hit after hit after hit, delivering standard after standard ...Loretta Lynn, again, had hit after hit, but the songs arent 'soulful'as Patsy's are ......Tammy's ' stand by your man ' 'is' a Truly Great American classic .....!
@ElvisFreak77 Patsy and Tammy were very different in their sound, so its not really fair to compare them. I can't imagine Patsy singing this song, but then I can't imagine Tammy singing a lot of the songs that Patsy did- especially the early Rockabilly and Western Swing. Patsy was very versatile as a vocalist. But Tammy was more a shy entertainer and a songwriter. Both were great.
This is a killer clip of the great Tammy Wynette. Classic song, emotion-drenched vocals, tight-ass backing band, cool camera-work -- and introduced, no less, by the legendary old Possum himself, George Jones (Tammy's one-time hubby). She really had a one-of-a-kind voice. Too bad today's country music doesn't have anyone even close to her caliber -- and don't even think about naming Carrie Underwood, or some other modern-day poser.
I agree with you dude , People are so eager to put carrie underwood in the same class as the incomprable Tammy Wynette. Carrie couldn't hold Tammy's picture much less hit the painful notes that Tammy could gut wrench so beautifully.
stupid people who dislike this! they certaintly do not know real music when they hear it

yep .... indeed, the beautiful Faith Hill and the unforgettable Tammy Wynette
have some very similar characteristics .... they could almost be sisters!
.... and they're both one of the most beautiful ladies to ever walk this earth!
.... of course, in my humble opinion ....
