Oh my God, Wanda was so cool. These chicks can sing. Them, the Vandellas, Mary Wells, Brenda Holloway, Kim Weston were some of the coolest singers Motown had. They gave it to the Supremes and I say okay, but they were NOT my favorites....these were!
Emotional Song...sang my daughter to sleep night after night with this classic. She is 26 this month would like to mp3 download it for her birthday...doesn't seem to be available.. Soulie's any ideas.
Entertainment Weekly magazine listed "Destination: Anywhere" by the Marvelettes as one of the "essential" songs from the Ashford & Simpson songwriting catalog. Nice to find it on youtube, thanks for posting it.
GREAT TUNE written by Ashford and Simpson - it was released by Motown on August 27, 1968 and it peaked at number 63 on the Billboard Hot 100 in October of 1968-
@christheone8773 The other day we were thinking of the lesser known songs Ashford and Simpson wrote as well as "Never Had it So Good" and the likes of "Let's Go Get Stoned" by Ray Charles. They were really dynamic and I have thought often of how Valerie is without the wonderful Nick. People have said that he was as nice as he appeared to be. Thanks for your response. : D
@beatsboy59 ACTUALLY, the B side to this tune was a remake of "What's Easy For Two Is Hard For One" which actually bubbled under the Billboard Hot 100-
Their singles stand up to anything by the Supremes....and dare I say it, I think their albums are better! At long last we shall have the complete Marvelettes albums on CD in 2009 as part of Motown 50 celebrations. YAY!
God I love this song. Just incredible. And I agree this is one of Wanda's greatest leads. But hey, she had so many! What about "Someway, Somehow"? That one lays me out.
Do i thats all i own theres nothing like it ,,i tell everyone thats where your oldies cds come from and they laugh called me old man but im 35 i guess im getteing up there...lol...nice collectin by the way
Love this song, Wanda, Kathrine and Ann, this is from their LP Sophisticated Soul, "Here I Am Baby" "My Baby Must Be A Magician" and "Im Gonna Hold On Long As I Can" and "Your The One" were the other singles from that album

@christheone8773 like your history. I forget how many songs Ashford and Simpson wrote. RIP Nick. They were a dynamic team!

@boomerang905 of course, you know that they were the prime songwriting team for Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell, giving that duo many Top 10 hits-
