  • Why do the best always die young?

  • Not even Chuck Norris messed with Leroy

  • Italians do it better

  • Ah Real talent ;-)

  • He was so great

  • What?! No pyrotechnics? No dancers? No autotune? Good grief! That's an acoustic guitar he's playing! How dare he! /sarc

  • such a freaking awesome entertainer he was! I have a friend here who had tickets to one of his concerts the year he was killed. he still has those tickets.

  • My uncles name is Leroy Brown

  • @Jordan3261994

    Watch out ;-)

  • am radio stuff man -- before 8 tracks --

    <3

  • My car stereo is crappy.. it decides which stations will work on which day, and yesterday... All I could get was the oldies station. I was dismayed until this song came on, and brightened my entire day.

    Thank you shitty car stereo.

  • yeah Ironstixx you gotta go with the flow, better than screaming all day turn that shit off!!!! Would I rather listen and watch Jim? Of course, but I never want to be out of touch or be those "people my parents warned me about" as another Jim would say.

Aun casi 40 años, despues sigue gustando y aumentando fans.... Gracias por tu musica.

  • Always had a smile on his face !!

  • @itzpms Upps! Por error se anotó como un "no me gusta"... Jim Croce siempre tuvo una sonrisa en su cara.

  • @itzpms i thought i was the only one that ever noticed that

  • I am 60 yrs old and this was MY music firggin kool that I can just hit a button and be there again! I am encourdged that the youngetr people also enjoy PURE music. Just a side line, I have a 22 yr old daughter, Peyton, that has embraced my music as I have embraced hers...like nickleback, ememin, rhihinna, usher, it's all about the music

  • @nthemoment929 your right i love it when people think like you its not the new trends and crap its people that like different types of music and like different music that their friends/family like as well as their own.

  • @nthemoment929 you embraced THAT shit??

  • When talent got you far. Rest in Peace Mr. Croce, thank you for the music you gave to us still living on this planet.

  • @weloveDWW Yeah, how about that. Remember the days when you had to be TALENTED in order to get famous? RIP Jim, the world will never know how much more talented you would have become.

  • Dusters!!!!!!!

  • Every one is intitled to there opion. Even if it is wrong! Lets respect others even if we do not argree with them.

  • @ahnbra Perhaps you should learn to spell. "intitled" and "opion" and "Lets" I'm with the others that think that this man is the best of the best. If you are illiterate then I am sure that you can't possible appreciate Croce's poetry. So, in a nutshell (pardon the pun), knock it off. I agree that the six naysayers need a little education too, but if you are going to write a commentary on any public site, please put down the martini and spell check before hitting post.

  • brilliant,shades of myself

  • i love him

  • oo that girl looked nice XD

  • It’s such a shame he died so young what a talent we lost!!!!

  • LOVE !!! This

  • Rockin' !

  • Thanks so much. Luv Croce and unfortunately know every word to this great song by heart ;)

my toes and feet tapping and im seeking like mad

    so fine

    he died too young

  • "oooo dat girl looked niiiice"

  • Correction!! JIM CROCE is...the "BADDEST MAN IN THE WHOLE DAMN TOWN!" And we Youtube-folks Are unanimous in that! Thanks for Posting!!

  • There were 7 empty seats on Croce's plane meant for those people who disliked this video.

  • @PredatorKillsAlien Keep your blogs commin'. I totally agree. Family friend and neighbor

  • Comment removed

  • check out me and my buddies cover on my channel! wicked song

  • You don't tug on Supermans cape and u dam sure dont pull on the Lone Ranger's mask! lol

  • AHH....vh1..when the music was good...-sigh-

  • hay my names is leroy brown

  • o yea leroy

  • the 6 that dislike must of met leroy brown!

  • Another great songwriter gone to soon. Almost 40 years later Bad Bad Leroy Brown still lives!

  • Happy birthday Jim

  • love the song... love the ironed pleats down the front of their jeans too... lol

  • @TheSupersneed That is not pleats...I think it's shadows from his mic stands coming from two different lights.....it looks like pleats, though.

  • Well, at least there is plenty of footage of him.

  • anybody that hates this should have an anvil dropped on their head from 1,000 feet....

  • i love these songs but he is one ugly dude

  • all i can say is . you haters suck. ya don t deserve this mans music. you deaf bastards

  • This one always seems to go over well when I play it live.... but I'm nowhere near as good as Jim Croce.

  • 2 acoustic guitars and a piano, that is music

  • is he related to bill crosby ?

  • @teflonmagnet bill crosby is not a person.

  • @utrocksit i'm sure he exists...just as i'm sure you do; and, i'm sure there is an extant bing cosby.

  • @teflonmagnet You either mean: David Crosy, Bing Crosby or perhaps Bill Cosby.

  • Everyone is entitled to their opinion in music. We will never see talent like Jim or his guitar player again in our lifetimes. Did you all know he had three songs hit after he died with one of them going all the way to the top. Wow!

  • Live music doesn't get much better than this, nice post!

  • God Bless Jim Croce and his Porno moustache!

  • The 6 people who disliked this should go spit into the wind, tug on Superman's cape, pull the mask off the old Lone Ranger, and mess around with Jim.

  • @MrBeatdown I'ts at 7 now. This has to stop. How 'bout a 1 way drop off in Louisiana

  • @MrBeatdown Amen to that!

  • @MrBeatdown You forgot one - take the loin cloth off Tarzan :-)

  • @MrBeatdown lame

  • I LOVE THIS VIDEO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • An incredible and gifted man, a sad loss to the music world when he died so tragically young.. R. I. P JIM......

  • Amazing talent!! What a song writer,How in the "FUCK" CAN YOU NOT LOVE THIS SONG?

  • awsome man R.I.P

  • That song is amzing

  • We lose a lot of People at a young age! I remember hearing him sitting in the back seat of my Parents car!

  • September 20th 1973 was a sad day.. He had the world by the balls..

He was so on his way to becoming a super star... R.I.P. Jim...

  • Great live acoustic version! It tears me up whenever I think of the fact that neither Jim Croce nor Maury Muehleisen are no longer here to make new music. Hard to believe it's been almost 37 years to the day since they left this precious Earth. Jim & Maury, thanks for all the great music you've provided us for all these years, because the classics never go out of style!

    Missing you both.

    Jim Croce (1943-1973)...R.I.P.

    Maury Muehleisen (1949-1973)...R.I.P.

  • thats a country boy right there

  • Speechless. (Don't know what to say 'cept farrrrknoathmate.. is that cool?)

  • 6 people need to take a music appreciation course.

  • @imtellinellen yes. definitely

  • He died just as he seemed to be catching a break, but at least he'll always at his best in our memories. Look forward to visiting his restaurant (opened and run by his widow Ingrid) in San Diego in the future.

  • Just a thought but it seems the R&B classic "Stagger Lee" was an inspiration to this and "You Don't Mess Around With Jim".

  • Meaner than a junkyard dog......a true classic!

  • A 32 gun and a pocket full of fun...I love it

  • JIm is a great composer and performer...

  • @MrJazkiller Was.

  • @kungfujellybean ohhh..that reminds me..he died already...it seems he's still alive....his music will last forever....

  • Nice revival! even better than Sinatra's version

  • @MrJazkiller Revival? Croce wrote this and is the original performer. Sinatra's version was a cover.

  • @Macbeagle yes! i am more amazed by Jim...he really is a great composer...i thought sinatra was the original..thats why jim version is so great cause hes the original..thanks for that info..

  • I like Maury @ 0:06 Wooo! lol. He was way over looked!!!!!!!!!! Listen to the backing vocals & guitar work, Plus he helped write, Thank you Maury, R.I.P.

  • That's it. I'm never flying again.

  • Just a few months before his death he caught my ears and I can say that if ears could cry, my ears would have!

  • Jim Croce kicked butt in his day. What the heck is it about musicians and airplanes and bad luck? Such a talented guy! So many worthless scumbags but he is the one to die. Life can really bite sometimes. He'll always be one of my all time favorites. Thank God for YouTube!

  • I wish I has born in the 70's.good music,good pepole,good life,better day's then what we have now...2010 suck's.and so well the next's 20 year's we are going to have.going to suck.I am a old school guy.

  • Only Jim Croce' can play this song better then my old friend Joe Gregory~ Miss you Buddy always~ RIP

  • this was one of my Dad's favorites...

  • awesome

  • this music is beyond great. words are failing me!

  • Maury Muehleisen was as much a part of Jim Croces success as JIm himself, sadly was killed in the same plane crash.

  • @alderete74 Ohhh, sorry to hear that, he was indeed a marvelous guitar player.

  • Very Good!!!

    sidnei-Brasil

  • reminds me of my late mom

  • Beat that, Eminem!!!

  • oh yeah, the good old days :)

  • OMG! JUST LOVE THIS MAN! MISS HIM!!!

  • So far, according to the ratings, six people don't deserve to live.

  • @Sombrek LOFL

  • @Sombrek Don't worry about 6 idiots. 491 to 6 doesn't bother me a bit.

  • @Sombrek GOD DAMN RIGHT!!!

  • @Sombrek ... it's musical taste. Get some perspective.

  • @Sombrek Call Leroy he'll use his .32

  • @Sombrek six people are friends of Leroy!

  • @Sombrek You mad, redneck?

  • @Sombrek 7

  • I've been listening to Jim Croce since I was a teenager. I can relate to many of his songs. He was an awesome artist.

  • Dnon: The song was only released about six months before he died and reached #1 three months before he died. Odds are that this is from some time in the summer before he died.

  • Jim Croce's Greatest Hits was my first album. I saw this on t.v.

  • What a wonderful performer,so talented! So sad!The best die young!

  • Man he looks so old here and he died when he was only 30 so he can't be older than that in this video.

  • i love this song

  • great song. bad bad leroy brown, not fat fat leroy brown :)

  • Great footage!

  • im a rap person love rap but this is a great song tons of respect for u R.I.P

  • i love this song.<3

  • Nice easy performance - sad to lose him so early

  • This is the best Live performance of this song!

  • What I believe is that the only songs on youtube by Jim Croce should be sung by him no one else.

  • Omg this song is also sung by the best band in the whole world Celtic Thunder I love it especially Damian Mc Ginty! Check it out!!!

  • There's a version of this by a group called Celtic Thunder. Pretty good. You should check it out.

  • theres a video of jim croce saying this song is based on someone he knew in the army.

  • Jim and Borat look pretty similar.

  • haha! the guitarist looks john lennon!ahahah

  • who's the other guy... john lennon?

  • his name is maury muehleisen

    hes a great guitarist/backup vocalist.

  • @Hamelin121 Maury was the man. He added so my to Croce's songs. The backup guitar/vocals he does on operator is amazing!

  • he was only thirty years old when he died the same way as aaliyah and stan rogers.

  • James Croce had more talent in his pinky than a lot of artist today have in their own body.

  • It makes me sad when I think of this guy dying right when he about to make it real big!

He was very very very talented....

I wish more young people knew who he was...

I hear he was a nice man.

  • Is this song about a Black Chicago pimp?

  • @MondoBeno I always thought so. At least a brown Chicago pimp. I always thought of Harlem myself. If you didn't know who Jim Croce was you'd think he was a black dude singing about another black dude. Dem 2 mens took da fightin. Are those adverbs he's leaving out of the sentences to those lyrics? I cannot remember my highschool grammer and sentence diagraming.

  • @Delticola ha yea I always thought Jim Croce was black. Been hearing his songs for years always liked this one. Never knew his story till recently. Sucks he was only big for about a year or so before he died. But that shit happens and just goes to show to appreciate every day u have left on earth cause it can END at any second....

  • no...as the story goes I think, Jim Croce was doing construction and a coworker "leroy brown" was one of those arrogant "I have life by the balls" coworkers who always talked smack...

  • i agree \l/

  • Happy Birthday, Jim - wish you were here. Your music is still wonderful today!

  • Happy Birthday, Jim!

  • wesley Brown!

  • It's always the good ones that leave way to soon. Imagine how many other songs we could be listiening to if he had not passed.

  • @jsh78mang SERIOUSLY! One of the best fuckin singer/songerwriters of all time!

  • All the people in his songs were real people he has met in his life. Leroy Brown was some dude he knew from when he enlisted in the Army. I wonder if he is still alive?

  • Live on jim you have won my heart

  • Jim was a legend and still is RIP brother.

  • the guy was awseme

  • i was at NSU (Nothwestern State University) in Louisiana watching him in concert. 30 mins. later on the way back to Shreveport, La. a news flash came on radio saying his plane went down 1o mins. after take off killing everyone. Man it sure ruined a good buxx zz. RIP buddy there will never be another one like u. :-(

  • Thank you very much Mr. Croce, talents in time!

  • Great song from a great musician. RIP Jim and the rest who died in the plane crash.
