  • Ive got my lt230 out of the 110 at the moment. Im replacing seals and was happy to find a cross drilled input gear also. I have noticed a very small amount of wobble in the output shafts. Do you think this is reasonable or is it time for new bearings? Regards

  • You need to quantify "a small amount" I'm afraid.

  • If you can picture the handbrake drum being able to shift side to side about 1mm at most.

  • I'd say new bearings then mate. There's no reason why you should see so much. Bear in mind that there is nothing "special" about LR bearings - get the numbers and source them from your favourite bearing dealer, you'll be AMAZED at the savings ! ( That said, that's my UK experience, Oz may be different)

  • hi when you say the centre diff do you mean on the axle or in the tran box thanks darren happy new year

  • The one in the transfer box was causing MOST of the problem. There IS play in the axle diffs - but the centre diff fixed things pretty well.

  • The centre diff WAS knackered - the internal shafts were worn to bits. I have some pictures somewhere

  • hi did you sort the ply out what was the cause i have same prob on defender thanks darren

  • Its between the flange out to the diff and the main box- the Gear box is in 4th, the T box is in high, and I have 3/4" of movement at the edge of a 3" flange. what do you reckon ?? Too much ?

I have a horrible 101 prop rattle, but thats in this free play !

    Thanks !

  • so is that in the diff or the gear box?
