@MadeToBeGray many diverse genres have a certain sound or a certain blend of other genres to them. like math rock, many casual listeners of rock wouldn't find this appealing. the same goes for avant-garde metal. just imagine a listener of disturbed thinking mr. bungle or iwrestledabearonce would be the same thing as disturbed simply because it was just called "metal".

If they were labeled as grindcore, then I wouldn't listen to their music at all. When I hear grindcore, I think of fools trying to be as "br00tal" as possible or what the fuck ever. That is not the case with all bands labeled like that. Which is what I mean man, you can't put label on everything and expect it to stick logically.

This band and Barrit were the first metalcore bands I got into, and upon further review of the genre, haven't found any other bands that are good. It opened the door to youth crew, screamo and emo though, personally (the actual genres for the last two mentioned...not that Alesana, Blessthefall, Silverstein, Devil Wears Prada crap...see wikipedia under "screamo"). And Estranged, this is highly technical music, nowhere near half assed

@ex0nic That's the thing, the lyrics are pretty much there to be read - not heard. The music is simply too insane, too wrapped up in emotion to connect comprehensive lyrics to. Personally, I think it's awesome. Converge is really the only band I've heard of that does that.

@HydrowolfTD the lyrics are mainly a back story really...the vocals i think represent the fierceness and the anger of Jacob about the theme of the album, which is recovering from a breakup. The lyrics tell a story while the vocals give you the feeling of aggression and pain.
