I always remember the 87/88 era because Liverpool were totally destroying some teams with breathtaking football. Beardsley, Barnes, Aldridge, etc. What a team and months before it was how will they cope without Ian Rush?
liverpools 87/88 side was one of the best teams to have played the game along with arsenals invincibles.the 5-0 victory against notts forest was a pleasure to watch
Gotta say i saw the 87/88 team and is was amazing. would have been interesting to see them play against Arsenal's invincibles. would have been a cracking game
@uniquemind85 what a tit, makes me laugh cos a couple of years ago Man U fans weren't counting the old football league titles and didn't care, it was all about how many premier league titles you won. Now you're tally amounts to 19 the football league titles matter?? make yor mind up!! and enjoy you're moment in the sun because the moment that whiskey drinking gob shite taggart retires/dies you're fucked and you know it! and by the way you didn't knock Liverpool off there perch, Souness did!
@eddiemurphy12 I think the football played in 87,88 was the best and was the most atractive football any Liverpool team ever played but the 78,79 team was also something special.
@eddiemurphy12 The 83,84 season must be Liverpool's greatest ever season when they won the first ever English treble using only 16 players all season and the great IAN RUSH scored 47 goals and a penalty in the Rome shoot out.
@eddiemurphy12
hey man where did you get this video from BBC?? or is it Anfield made documentary??

Bloody shame they were deprived of the double that year. Liverpool should have done the double at least 4 more times.

liverpool 87/88
arsenal 90/91
arsenal 97/98
arsenal 03/04
my top four sides purely for their virtual invincibility and amazing talent everyone could see
arsenal 91 had limpar, who for me was just amazing and the most exciting winger at the time.

This your best ever team?
Or does 1978/79 get that honour?
cajjer 8 months ago
@cajjer 83/84 won a treble (league, league cup & european cup.
but in terms of the football played a lot of people reckon 78/79 or 87/88.
up for argument tbh.

Practically impossible to call
Just know Allan Clarke was full of shit when he said Leeds 1973/74 was better than Liverpool 1987/88
