  • hi sir, i have a toyota tercel 1997 EL50, the control arm crash, what other similar toyota model replacement can i made, as tercel is very rare in my country. i mean , can you suggest me other toyota that have similar left control arm..your reply will be appreciated thanks :)

  • @hacker219105 I am sorry but i do not know that much about the EL50

  • @richpin06a thanks for the reply, another question 1 mechanic told me to buy a new one, and another told me it is possible to re put it back in shape. Do you think it will be good and secure to use it again or i go for a new one???

  • @hacker219105 You do no want to put a bent or straighten one on.

  • @richpin06a thank again, finally the mechanic bent it to use temporarily, till i buy a new one from the net!!

  • Not bad rich !! Say would this process be similar on a 96 nissan maxima ?

  • @tbskirk Very similar except the ball joint can not be unbolted from the control arm.

  • @richpin06a So the ball joint is pretty much built into the control arm ?

  • @tbskirk Yes it is pressed into the arm.

  • Check Out My Pimped Tercel :) On My Channel Or Type Down Toyota Tercel 99 it's the first one

  • Rich,

I have a question on the impact wrench you used. I have one also, where it has the 'oil' fitting, can you tell me if that is the place where you put regular air tool oil, or is that a place for motor oil inside the impact wrench's casing?

I ask this because on my impact wrench I thought you put motor oil in the 'oil' fitting, and you put 'air tool' oil down the air inlet.

    Thanks Ferd

  • @gst69man very good question i always just put tool oil in the inlet...must investigate.

  • i just posted on your other video but forgot to add the car is a Toyota Tercel like this one. do you notice problems with steering and front end problems on these cars? reason i'm asking is because my front end seems real loose and it's creeping up with the miles with nearly 130-160k miles.

  • @deeboi619 I do not drive the tercel but the owner has not complained about any looseness.

  • Great editing skills, One thing id like to mention is that the control arm bushing bolts should have there final tighting while the vehicle is at normal ride height and loaded. A way to mimic this would be to jack up the control arm that was replaced, until the car lifts off of your other jack slightly, thanks again

  • When do we get to hear you on car and truck talk with rich baxter and eric the car guy?!?!?????

  • @foxdmulder you really what to hear about my life's story it will put you to sleep....lol

  • Great Video!

  • do you torque the bolts to a certain spec or just zip em on with the impact you have?

  • @Diesel1Dee There are torque figures for the bolts.Balljoint to arm bolts and nuts 59 ft-lbs.Control arm front pivot bolt 105 ft-lbs.Rear bracket bolts 94 ft-lbs 1993 and earlier.

  • Wait what do you mean wheel assembly? That confuses me (and maybe others) because it I don't know if you are referring to the hub assembly also. Do you mean the rim and tire set as the wheel assembly? It's confusing because you said assembly and I don't hear a lot of mechanics say assembly, they just say wheel. Althought I can see why it's an assembly, technically...

  • @man1d2tran I call it a assembly because it is two parts the tire and the wheel sorry if it is confusing.

  • cool

  • Good video. You should remind everyone though that after doing something like that you need to get a alignment done or you'll have tire wear.

  • I like the idea of putting the ramp under there, close to but not touching the sill. I haven't been under a car in a while but I liked to fill up space underneath with old wheels and anything else solid in case the stands fail or get bumped over or something. Just put it all under, close to but not quite touching the bottom of the car so it's not supporting it but the car doesn't fall very far if it goes.

  • You're a great teacher and i've watched all your videos. I appreciate it alot. Please continue to make those videos. I'll be watching.

  • Gotta love those balljoints that bolt on vs. those press-in types. Makes thing so much easier.

  • @JohnzCarz O ya much easier

  • Great video! Looks like the Rustoleum paint job is holding up well.

  • @tbird30 surprisingly so i believe to is almost a year now

  • thats pretty color

  • @crystalscan2002 My father thought so it is oil base paint i have a video on it.

  • @richpin06a I just watched those videos. For what you did, I'm amazed. Really cool to say the least. :)

  • First time I got to be the first to say good video ;)
