  • STOP THE COMMENTS ABOUT ÁCROSS THE UNIVERSE NOT BEING BETTER THAN THE BEATLES.

It's just a cover; can't we all just enjoy good music without hate?

Like really? they're just as good as the Beatles.

  • Why even compare the Beatles to a movie INSPIRED BY THEM, using their songs and the time frame. That makes no sense. They are not trying to outdo the Beatles, or ruin the Beatles. They just wanted to make a story from the songs. People need to chill the heck down, you are spitting on the Beatles image fighting about such pointless things. You complain on a video while Genocide is taking place AS WE SPEAK. Oh how soon people forget that all they ever need is love.

  • In my opinion, if they took this version and mixed it with John Lennon's vocals, it'd be fucking PERFECT.

  • Lucy is awesome

  • @supermario897 thats why its a cover.

  • Bono is shit

  • @FelixFelisis Beatles aren't silly at all. They experimented so many different things, in such an amazing way! They were so futuristic for their age, nobody has ever been like them and nobody will. Maybe what you call 'silly' is psychedelic music. They invented ska music (i.e. Hello Goodbye), hard rock (i.e. Helter Skelter) videoclips (before no one had ever thought about it) and they did the first concert in a stadium (Shea Stadium). No one is above the Beatles. Beatles are art.

  • I don't really care for the original songs by the Beatles themselves. I LOVE the Across The Universe covers, but when I went to listen to the original Beatles songs, I honestly didn't see what everybody liked about them. To me they sounded kind of silly. Although, Twist and Shout! is a really awesome song that I like by the Beatles.

  • @FelixFelisis 0.o are you outta your mind? you like the across the universe covers but the originals sound silly? they're the same songs

  • @FelixFelisis "Twist and Shout" is a song written by Phil Medley and Bert Berns. It was originally titled "Shake It Up, Baby" and recorded by the Top Notes and then covered by The Isley Brothers. It was covered by The Beatles with John Lennon on the lead vocals and originally released on their first album Please Please Me. The song was covered by The Mamas & the Papas (in the style of a ballad) in 1967 on their album Deliver, and on a film soundtrack by Cliff Richard. also covered by The Trem...

  • @barrysofma Okay... well that was nice to know?

  • @FelixFelisis That's mainly because the Beatles didn't have all the technology we have today. But if you step back and look at what they DID have, you'll find it quite extraordinary that they did what they did. They changed the entire world of music forever, to put it lightly.

  • bono rules!!!!!!!!! /helena

  • this was a terrible movie. totally fucked up every beatles song they touched. i can't believe paul or ringo permitted this shit.

  • This is the original voice. They only cleaned it.

  • bono's a douchebag... doesn't even compare to the likes of john lennon and paul mccartney

  • @123roryk321 Bono is no douche, true he cannot compare to John Lennon or Paul McCartney, but he has his own views and the Beatles were one of his top inspirations! Why do you think he did this movie? dont judge if you dont know the information

  • please...bono is a gadfly....look it up...its his face there in the dictionary.....catorce...lol

  • This version doesnt have that effect the Beatles gave

  • suck sucks sucks sucks sucks

  • This song gives me goosebumps, I'm sure sure why but it's incredible. This has got to one of the greatest Beatles covers ever, I think John would have been proud.

  • Did someone say BONO!?

  • I came my pants to this song when i was high true story

  • @DjRoCkEtFINGER something similar happened to me but with across the universe.. lol

  • Actually the drawing this song referances was drawn by John's son Julian

  • THIS IS NOT ABOUT LSD! paul mccartny said he based the song off o a drawing his daughter drew.

  • @csswafford thank you!!! finally somebody agrees!!

  • @csswafford Although I agree that it is about the picture, there is no doubt they were probrobly on acid when they wrote some lyrics. There is just no way this is about the picture itself.

  • @csswafford Paul Mcaertney?....John Lennon wrote this song....

  • Haha if you remove the o from Bono and then add er it spells out Boner hahaha!

  • @Sk8ertim724 wow your immature

  • @Sk8ertim724 That... was a waste of writing space. What are you, 11?

  • @sugarandspice4815 Even I was more mature a that age >.>

  • @Sk8ertim724 thats not immature.. thats just stupid.. who cares if someone says boner? once you reach the age of 14 you will understand.. hopefully

  • Comment removed

  • @Sk8ertim724 Haha if you take all the letters out of your name and replace them with "Dickface" you get DICKFACE! hahaha!

  • @tikifreakazoid ROFL!!

  • really good but abit slow

  • Nothing can compare to the original, but Bono sang it wonderfully!! Who better than him to sing a Beatles song, really?!!

  • The initials for the song are LITSWD.

Get your mind out of the gutter.

  • @tikifreakazoid

    Not at all.

When you write acronyms words like "in", "with", "at", "on", etc. are not represented, much like you are not supposed to capitalize them when you write a headline.

"Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds"

  • @tikifreakazoid yeah but if you only listent o the nouns its lsd

  • LSD hmmm on it

    haha

  • Every time I get high, I make sure to listen to this song. This one, or the Beatles' original. It keeps away the anxiety. It just gives you that good feeling.

  • @miked18482 every time you get high, i make sure to eat all of your food and drink all your beer before you snap out of it, and then i fart in your face.

  • The Edge!!! I love him! Bono's good too

This was my favorite cover out of the entire movie

  • awesome song

  • I have to say, I think Across the Universe did the impossible and improved on a Beatles song. I wouldn't say it for every rendition, but this and Happiness is a Warm Gun were EXCELLENT.

  • @tikifreakazoid i met joe anderson!

  • @denniandrew2002 im so jealous rhuhtuehtrhthneskjr :[

  • I like the verses of this version better, but the beatles put more emotion into the chorus.

  • I want to watch the video part from Across the Universe when they sing this, not just listen to the song. I remember it was trippy as hell

  • It's Bono & The Edge Ladies and Gentlemen!

  • Across the universe is Amazing :D

  • this seems more rock n roll then the beatles version, but dont hate bcuz i love the beatles

  • the orginal rocks, you can never beat it. But this is pretty damn good.

  • I think this cover is trying too hard. It's too serious. It's really good, but just doesn't fit very well.

  • This version is really great, but the Beatles version is more haunting, the Beatles verson just sounds it has more emotion, and more meaning than just a song. Can you imagine what the Beatles were thinking when they wrote this song?

  • @iwontbenormal They were thinking, "This is some damn good acid!"

  • @CeruleanFilms Hahaha you're probably right. All the same, it's still my favorite Beatles song :)

  • I love this version! Bono did a great job as Dr. Robert( I think). His voice is so relaxing in this song

But I still love the Beatles version more

  • The irony of the highest rated comments are quite entertaining.

  • @keitharbie hahahaha thats true :D

  • @tink111495

    ^_^

  • i kinda like the beatles version better lol but this one is good too

  • omg! i love this version so much...but its all coz of the original composition of course! so John Lennon <3 <3 <3

  • u2 does it better and the beatles suck...plain and simple

  • @dwalsh96100 whoa whoa whoa I think this is a great tribute, but the Beatles DO NOT SUCK, U2 rocks too!

  • @dwalsh96100

Did you even try to listen to the Beatles? I was once like you, but just give them the chance and you'll see why the Beatles does not suck.

  • i dont really like bono's voice

  • @purpleproductionftw He probably doesn't give a shit.

  • BONO BONOOOOo

  • @tink111495 i can ay i love both versions

  • This is crap. The original has actual good singing... You sound like some crack head

  • @MelRules911 This is from a movie. Not recorded by the poster. That's why it says "Across the Universe."

    DERPA DERP DERP!

  • this entire song is like an octave lower...... it sounds like they are sad or something lol

  • sounds like bono's version, just a bit

  • Beatles do it way better

  • i'm a rabid beatles fan, but i'm not totally blind to all covers, and this one is amamzing

  • this is good, but the smart thing to do when watching people or listening to people do Beatles covers, is you have to realize that the Beatles Version will be better, always, now you judge it correctly on how good it is.

  • im sorry no one hate on me but for me i think he kind of ruined the song for me

  • i love this song and elton john is an AMAZING singer

  • @imagine123451

    This is Bono. Not Elton.

  • This version is better.....great movie:)

  • beatles version is better

  • did jude sing this?

  • LSD~ Lol.

  • Why did they do that? :S Wtf its The Beatles.? :O

  • man when i saw the movie i thought it wouldn't be any good but in stead it bloow my mind a way i was like supper baked when i watch it maybe it might of help but i didn't even know what i got my self into when i seen it it really Good and the songs too!

  • i saw that movie today!

  • love love love this song and always will!!!!!!!!

  • Sounds like Peter Gabriel doing a Beatles cover.

  • @shitmandood Actually, its Bono who sing this cover.

  • @shitmandood Actually, its Bono who sing this cover.

  • i love this version better then the original, just to say

  • the beatles is seriously the best band ever made they made a song for every kind of emotiona a human can have...i use music for therapy and they do a fantastic job

  • @DeGellekej what emotion would this be?

  • the beatles reign king

  • I mean that this was before Coldplay....and U2s song Winter, up for an Oscar, people keep saying sounds like Coldplay...with the strings and all....but this came before them...sooo...yeah...U2 is U2 and Coldplay used Eno for last album, like U2 has ...Ok i am rambling...

  • Gee this sounds like COLDPLAY!!! JUST KIDDING....i can hear them now.....

  • this is good but you can never beat an original.

  • @ringgoldrox

    yeepp!

  • @ringgoldrox unless the original was bad.

  • @ringgoldrox You can never beat the original. That's why it is called the "original." and everything else is a remake.

  • @ringgoldrox Acualy the remake of the across the universe song is better with the trippy sounds

  • best movie ever!!!!!!!!!

  • wow this sounds amazing

a great cover and a GREATER movie!

  • this is pretty good but....as good as the original? I DONT HARDLY FUCKIN THINK SO!

  • Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds.... Lucy, Sky, Diamonds= L.S.D. I'm pretty sure that's why the credits scene when this song was playing was soooo trippy. 0_o (kaleidoscope eyes, lol)

  • hahaha so true man XD

    awesome song either way though!

    and movie <3

  • I...don't like this cover. I just don't. Nothing against Bono but...gha!

  • @TheMintyMuffin Yeah, I don't really like too. I mean, the way he sings it is absolutely not like the Beatles did, and... it's not the same spirit, and the Bealtes spirit is very important. And all the across the universe film seems far away from that spirit... Whatever ^^... ^^ :-)

(sorry for the bad English, I'm from France ;-)

  • No problem! Your English is better than my French ;-)

I agree about 'ATU' not capturing the spirit of the Beatles. But hey. At least it introduced a lot of us to some great music!

  • Sorry Bono. Elton John's version is better than this..... word, can't find the right word.

  • The Beatles version is better than Elton John!!! The Beatles version is the original

  • That goes without saying. The movie is built around The Beatles music, or were you not aware of that? I haven't heard a Beatles cover that comes close to the the original. The point is that Elton's version is better than Bono's.

  • but i don't like the elton john version, i think this version is better

  • bad cover. he did really good with i am the walrus though.

  • Instrumental version of this is nice.

  • Bono

  • so who sings this in the movie. The actual guys' name not his character.

  • @Crzeimasha Bono from U2 sings this version, he plays the character of Doctor Roberts

  • Bono

  • now, you can PREFER one over the other--personally i like things in this one and things in the original. i like the key this one is in, and i prefer the singing in this one, its not as nasally, and the verses sound all space-y. but i agree, the chorus is OK. i never really liked the chorus anyway, i always thought there should be more verses. but that's just me.

  • eh people seem to be confusing their opinion with fact... it's kind of impossible for a cover to be objectively better than the original because the original is the only one that completely and accurately portrays what the songwriter was feeling at the time. they can come very close, but never completely. (although, "better" can't really be used objectively... whatever)

  • The Beatles Original is Better.

  • i thought that off the movie most of the origanals were better, but i like this one better

  • I like the beat in this version.

  • The chorus was alright. Original was better.

  • I love the movie and the songs, but this is the only one that just didn't convince me...sorry, Bono, but The Beatles pwn you.

  • i personally like his version better

  • good till the chorus came in, o well beatles will always be better because they always will be the originators

  • I like Bono, he's an okay guy, great humanitarian and all, but good lord, please stay off John Lennon songs man, that should go for the entire cast of this movie honestly.

  • Cirno is the best!!

  • This version sucks but the movie is Badass

  • sucks.

  • the reason why they couldn't make a video to go along with it was because this song is so personnel there was no possible way for one person to imagine it into a video. Everyone sees it in a different way. This is my favourite song by the beatles and i think it was the bestremake from the movie. Mind you i hated the movie but i enjoyed the songs.

  • alright, now don't go pressing the little "thumbs down button" just cause I said this (cause it's only my opinion!)

    I love the beatles,

but I LIKE THIS VERSION BETTER.

    Okay? now chill.

  • @tink111495 way to show your opinion man, i hate that everyone rates you down just because you disagree with the mainstream, I once wrote that I liked elton johns ersion better, and got rated down immediately.

  • @tink111495 Never thought I'd say it before, either, but I actually agree. I think it's the bass kicking in an extra notch at 3:29 that really wins me over.

  • @sugarandspice4815 haha it get's so dynamic there :) i love it!

  • @tink111495 Yeah, I like the chorus a lot. :)

  • Wow whoever says this is better than the BEATLES VERSION, you are either def or retarted. this is crap compared to the original

    BEATLES FOREVER

  • AGREED! i mean across the universe did some better i admit, but this one.. the original its just way better. some songs NEED to be psychedelic, and this version is WAYY to toned down.

  • THANK YOU. I mean this is too modern. The Beatles are NOT supposed to be modern. Their supposed to be psychedelic as you said. I mean listen to the chorus here....it does not fit the song

  • WOO! high five for interweb agreement!

  • WOOHOO!

  • luci in the sky with diamonds....LSD, it fits pretty well :b

  • this isn't supposed to be like the beatles, it's someone else's style of them, it's a very nice sound and if you don't like it don't watch it. across the universe is amazing and a wonderful movie i think it actually does fit the songs quite nicely

  • I agree! I gave you a thumbs up!

  • better than the original actually

  • You must be deaf...

  • the guitar in the back ground of the chorus reminds me of take my breath away. I love the beatles and U2 this is win win for me

  • so much better than the beatles

  • i love the beatles

  • R.I.P Lucy O'Donnel

  • Wow. I like this version and the Beatles about the same. I REALLY WANNA SEE THIS MOVIE SOOO BAD! lol.

  • Watch the movie on youtube lol

  • meh its ok but it sucks compared too the oringinal..

  • Everyone is wrong, the picture was drawn by Lennon's son Julian, who came home from nursery school. He drew a picture of his classmate Lucy O Donnell, who had diamond shaped eyes. He said it was Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds.

  • im pretty sure it was john lennon's kid's friend

  • The song is actually literally about LSD, but the story about Julian Lennon's drawing is partially true. As I'm sure you know, John used LSD quite a bit and wanted to do a song. Of course, they couldn't admit it was about it, but years later, Paul admitted it was.

  • actually the song is about johns lil son sean who drew a picture of a girl in the sky with jewllery and he named her lucy

  • This Song Makes Me Happy!! I Just Love The Beatles!!!!

  • This song was in the credits right? Does anyone know the name of the instrumental that's also in the credits? I can't find it anywhere.

  • "Flying"

its on the Magical Mystery Tour album :]

  • THANKS A MILLION!

  • No problem! Happy to help

  • i like this version better than the original

  • i think he was like Paul McCartny's daughter's friend

  • An infection

  • oh my god. I hate it when people do this.I's just freaking retarded, ruining a masterful band, with this crap! Who in their right mind would remake a beatles song?

  • bono would.

  • lol. By the way who is bono?
