I wouldn't want to buy consumer grade stuff for that sort of heavy use. There are already loads of appliances that could do the same job which are designed for industrial use. The iPad thing is just fashion, plus their UI is badly designed as asmcriminaL among others pointed out. Unfortunately the world is run largely by people with zero science or technology understanding.

HOw the hell you going to say the ipad is "good in this situation" as the manager said. It has it's categories of food, lets say I want to order a roast beef sandwhich and some coffee. so you have to press the screen sandwhich > roast beef >back(to main screen)beverages>coffee 4 clicks. IMagine a mcdonalds cash register, you click "roast beef sandwhich" then "coffee" 2 clicks compared to 4??? It's funny when people try to sell you products and they are idiots.

excessive much? I'm all for trying to be flashy but using an ipad solely in this manner is more the stigma purposes not for convince. The return on investment for buying an ipad for each waitress would be unattainable compared to a station, or maybe even pen and paper. Ergo common analogy, the US spent 4 million developing a pen that could write upside down in space; the Russians did with no expense; ala the pencil.
