A friend and I went to a Fiona Apple concert during the tour of her first album........Laika was opening. We showed up in time for them, never heard of them before. Been listening since. Love it!
Please post "Lower than the Stars" Impossibly impossible to find in Canada. I had their 3 song Canadian Tour Disc from 1995 and it seemed to disappear with a relationship.
Margaret Fiedler must be a depressive - all her lyrics are about a particular kind of immobile emptiness that I know too well. I love Laika because of the beauty that she and Guy Fixsen persuade out of that dark silence - every Laika song should be heard late at night, in the impenetrable dark that you only find miles from anywhere.
I listened to this song earlier today, and couldn't help indulging in a flood of tears, summoning all the pain of emptiness to account.
Very much so, isn't it! Got the album about 12 years ago and it's still brilliant every time I listen to it! Btw 999klondike, it's 'nerves' not 'nose':)
