Dido always has such nice things to say about others she's worked with. They're the lucky ones to get to work with her. I don't believe there's ever been such a beautiful voice. What I love about this song is that it's what it doesn't tell you that makes it so intriguingly beautiful. The singer mentions a father and a sister, but no mother, and of course, what happened to the young man to prevent him from coming to collect his love on Christmas Day is also left unexplained. Great songwriting, beautiful singer, amazing song.

This could be a story separate from Dido, or it could be relevant to her in which case, Christmas Day would have a special meaning due to the fact that Dido was born on Christmas Day.
