The rabbit symbolizes his mother, he has been waiting long for his mother and really misses her, but then she goes away again, just like the rabbit. beutiful piece
It's a very sad short film. As far as I see it, it's about loneliness and rejection. Both characters are very lonely, probably due to the mother's absence. The rabbit was supposed to be their salvation. Things actually pick up at 9:37. But then it runs away... The final shot of the two sitting in alone in the couch is brilliant and it perfectly captures their loneliness and abandonment. That's how I read it anyway...
Very well executed cinematography, the story line is a little sad! I know some one that this actually happened to, but with two daughters. She never came back!
I'd like to know what ultimately happens between the father and the mother.
My favorite line of the movie belongs to the child with the half eaten apple as he was about to leave. He hands it out and expresses, "I don't know what to do with this."
You guys are doing good work. I hope you all reach your goals and that the writing can stay close to what it is now.
hey i have a ? how do you bring little kids and um you know tech them to say this act like this and do this and that? its so hard for an adult to do it and for kids i wounder!? can you tell me bluetoungefilms /
not easily. it's different for every kid. a lot has to do with casting. trying to find a kid that has the qualities that you are looking for and then making sure the environment you are working in makes it possible to bring what you need out of them.
hey i have a ? how do you bring little kids and um you know tech them to say this act like this and do this and that? its so hard for an adult to do it and for kids i wounder!?
that was really amazing! i've only just learnt about blue-tongue films today but the shorts that i've watched since then are beautiful! really inspiring work.
So accomplished throughout - the phenomenal performances in particular, the cinematography, editing and writing - that it is that much more frustrating to be left with the ending as is. Beautiful components, but ultimately not brought together to a satisfying conclusion. The rabbit should have served as a metaphor, but didn't quite. The kid's longing for the rabbit should have been about wanting attention from his father, given too late, but didn't quite. Stellar effort, unfulfilled promise.
Does anyone know how David achieved the multiple shots when the father and boy are having a conversation whilst preparing dinner? Did he use several cameras or did they retake the scene a few times?
It's probably a bad sign that the camera starting on the floor, showing the kid standing on a crate, had me thinking he was gonna hang himself. The boy's mouth-breathing makes him more adorable.
UM, he could have so caught that rabbit, it didn't have that many places to hide! Gave up too fast! That was really mean to the rabbit! I don't like films that encourage irresponsibility!
That was a very good video but it was sad to. :)
