I have seen this song sung by Richard Dreyfus in the movie "Mr. Holland's Opus" ... listening to this song today..just giot me teary eyed...just a bit...ehem...(clears throat)... my son's name is Sean...
John was so versatile as an artist. He did rock, pop, the first heavy metal, and with this song, you can see him experimenting with Japanese and somewhat Caribbean elements in his music. It's beautiful no matter what genre he chooses! It's just amazing.
Actually Julian wasn't really,John hardly spent time with him.But when John grew older he felt bad and went to New York to see his son to spend time with him.But sadly never returned back to England.
No he didn't get what he deserved if you're talking about the manner of death. If you're talking about the fame and fortune then you're right. No one is perfect.
i can't find a picture of my ex, my father buried all the pictures i had for the last 17 years under his crap, it's not that i would ever get back with her but i miss my past and my own history, as for john lennon, what a two-woman womanizer..i look a lot like lennon but this is all fantasy..i miss fantasy though..it helps bring spirit to my dull-aching misery
Yoko is a bitch. Sean and Julian get along, but Yoko wouldn't give Julian letters he had written back and forth with his dad. She sold them at an auction and Julian had to use the little money he had to buy letters his dad had written to him.
Julian, by the way, never inheritted any of his father's fortune.
Remember my dad singing this to me when i was a kid, we don't get on that well anymore, why? i'm not sure! but i was at home when we played this and a tear came to my eye and made me realize how special your parents are!
i hate it how john wrote a song about sean and how much he loved him.
but he didnt write one about his othre beautiful boy julian did he.
paul did that for john and also showes how much more he loved sean more.
i also hate it how people think of john as a saint because he was a membor of the best band in the world.but thats no exuse to aboandon his child, start a new family and make shure he isnt apart of it.
john had affair after affair when he was with cynthia and when he kicked her out he didnt see julian for 3 years and never rang to see how he was and when he got with yoko he hade sean and treated him with love and care but never for julian.i know johns dad abandoned john but thats no excuse to do that to julian is it
Try this. It creates a wondrous dissonance. Play Lennon's song "Beautiful Boy" on one window while playing at the same time "Paul McCartney's "Waterfalls" song on another window. Have it so both songs start at the same time, and then just listen to how they mix together. Back in the 70's I did this on two stereos just for fun to hear Lennon's & McCartney's voices singing together again. Ahh, I know, sad nostalgia. But I was astounded at the sound of those two songs blended together. Try it.
What the hell!! Did John, whom I loved dearly, forget that he had Julian first? Couldn't he spare a picture of him in his videos? I'm sorry but Sean is a poor excuse for Julian Lennon. As a child pushed aside most of my life, I can understand the terrible feeling of being thrown away for my own brothers. John, you would be proud of Julian and, I'm sure, Sean.
yea julian kinda had to make all this music stuff happen on his own yet sean got all the attention cause john was obsessed with yoko. i think its kinda sad... sing about peace so much they kinda disown your son
Yoko had a great deal of trouble with infertility, so the fact that she even had Sean was REALLY a big deal for them, so I understand his love for that special child.
not to put a damper on the video. it is a great vid by the way and a kick ass song but when i really think about it. if john hadnt met yoko i think the beatles could of stuck together. i think she talked him into going solo just so she could be in the spotlight in a video. cause really think about it. shes in all his videos just standing there like a zombie. oh well. anyway R>I>P john lennon you are truely missed. if anyone would like to leave me a comment or a rebuttle pleae do so.
John Lennon and Paul McCartney were alike in some interesting ways. The major similarity of course is that they were both happy go lucky musical geniuses that sprang out of nowhere from Liverpool. But the other similarity is that they both married ugly women and insisted on shoving them down our throats. I'm not sure what that means, but I find it remarkable.
Love John Lennon. I know my kids [when i get older] are going to listen to this very song before bedtime.Beautiful song.Inspiring man.

This is my favorite song by John Lennon. I enjoy how he is sending a message to his son throughout the entire song.
