You really see the differences here between dogs and wolves. The behavior is familiar, but the displays of aggression and dominance in wolves are serious and no joke
I'm fascinated with wolves. When compared to domesticated dogs of equal size: They have better immunity, much bigger brains, bigger paws, and much stronger bite. HEre are my questions: 1. is it apparent to you which is smarter - a dog or wolf? 2. how much does your wolves weigh? I'd say more than 110 lbs. 3. they are wild animals. could they make you feel threatened? they only see you as a food source. 4. would you ever consider crossing them with a docile big dog like a labrador? that'd be cool
@LeftistUprising 1. Wolves are smarter, coyotes are a lot smarter. 2. Our males weight 85-95 pounds, our females weigh 75-85 pounds. 3. Correct, they are wild animals. They have been habituated to human contact- they tolerate us and are pleased that we bring them food. Some of our wolves are affectionate with some humans, but not always. 4. Why ignore 10,000 years of domestication? The only thing you would get is unpredictability. Wolf hybrids very often become unmanageable and are euthanized.
@wolfparkweek From what admittedly little I know about coyotes, they seem intelligent enough to possibly be "problem-solving intelligent", to borrow a phrase from Jurassic Park. Would you say that this is true, would they actually be able to figure out puzzles and solve simple problems?
LOL they are licking and hugging each other , they are hugging a guy too ? I can understand why they are hugging a guy but why WHYYY are they hugging each each other ?haha wolfporn
@listentomewhynot They're not hugging, they're showing dominance by rolling the others over or pushing the others away. Obviously they all see the guy as the alpha, which is why they're licking his chin.
@lolpos2 watch A Man among wolves for the awnser the leader has to keep his pack in line and maintain a hiearchy with the other members of the pack if one gets out of line then he's put in his place with a little "time-out" or a lil bite to the nozzle of the nose it's also used in playing as well but don't worry about the wounds inflicted tho wolf saliva is said to have really amazing fast healing abilities :)
This is a bonding ritual performed often in the pack. See my Video -- The David Attenborough on wolves one. Also if you generally like wolves check out my channel if you want. I am not a serious 'wolfaboo' I enjoy drawing other magnificent beasts but I'm not the stereotypical "I liek wulfs" 'wolfaboo' I just think they are beautiful, enigmatic creatures that we should treasure but never forget the brutality and power they poses. People forget they are wild animals -3
@2:03 apparently all they want to do is lick the guy’s moustache but @2:16 a little fight breaks loose. For fuck’s sake is just a moustache, calm the fuck down!
P.S.: @2:54 look at that "guy" going in "for the kill". He licks the shit out of that moustache & makes it his bitch...
@ScientistCat They are constantly driving the point of who's the boss. As far as I could tell, the two bottom wolves were being dominated by the leaders when they tried to cuddle Monty before they did, kind of like a 'Know your place, fool!' thing. That said, it takes a special kind of human to just kneel there in the middle of a small pack while they're growling and snapping at each other to assert pack roles. I would just pee myself and run up a tree! :D
I've been to Wolf Park many times, watched Monty interact with these wolves and had the pleasure of visits with the main pack, as well. Even though these wolves are raised partially by humans, they are still wolves and not dogs and must be treated as such. WP gives us a "rare" opportunity to interact with these magnificant creatures. I'd say Monty does have a special bond with the pack..."wolf whisperer" comes to my mind. I wish I could be so lucky as to spend each day with them! :)

There's a pack of wolves that hang out by my roommate's grandma's house and they're very friendly for the most part.. I live in southern Arizona by the way. Today we went out there and the oldest one acted like he knew me for years, walked up to me and let me pet it and stuff. Pretty surreal, the rest of them started jumping on me and trying to lick me like puppies later one.. only one out of 6 or 7 actually kept its distance or showed any signs of hostility. Epic.
I wish I was Monty. Those growls I would have to get use to hearing though in figuring out which growl is a threat, just leave me alone, showing affection or I just want to growl. ^_^
I've been to Wolf Park every summer for the last six years and it keeps getting better. Love the addition of Dharma, too bad she's not in this video. Having spent 10 years volunteering at a wolf sanctuary, and having lived there on and off, I can say how amazing this video is. Many wolves follow Gods will for them-looking up to humans and revering them, understanding that they were created to be our "friends" in the Garden. Even now, many wolves understand that and will go into dominance rituals over who gets to spend time with the human. This is what early people saw in wolves, and is why we have dogs today.
