All of our Grandfathers probably served in the 'Great War'. In my opinion, it was the shittiest, most pointless war that man has ever fought. I give a salute to those who fought, lived, and died just to impress their generals.
Well put together video although some of the footage has been proven not to be original, but manufactured for propoganda.
My Great Uncle was blown to bits at the 'Battle of the Somme' & his remains were never found. His name is engraved on the 'Thiepval Memorial'. Thanks for the link.
Thank you for sharing this with me, my Grandfather was with the Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers during the Great War and managed to escape the wrath of the maxim machine gun at the Somme only to return home to Ulster and try to cope with the horrors of this war for another 35 years.
You crafted this together brilliantly, thanks for sending this to me. Do link it to the Willard poem if you wish. Where is the footage from? The battle of the Somme? Very important that people see these brave men, harrowing though it is.
What a waste of life. You think anybody wanted that ground after those poor souls were done fighting for it?
Either way, that was very well done. The only thing that could make it better would be if one could find those sorts of clips in colour; it would help drive the point home that they were real people back then too. Impossible to get that kind of footage, though, I admit.
Regardless, good job on the video. Illustrates a WWI-era assault perfectly.
O melhor , vale cada segundo.!!

Very good. I was actually making something very similar except a bit more of a radio show.
